Chapter 395
Yun Yao's words made the giant excited and made him realize that he had walked into the wrong path.
If you have to implement the proposition, you will know whether it is good or not. It is not verbally said. Just like in the story of an old farmer and a cattle, no matter how nice it is, it is another matter to do it.
Yun Yao would not have thought that his story of insulting Song would be recorded in the Mohist classics in the future.
Since the implementation has been reached, the Giant Zi talked about Mo Wei and Yunyao about "Shang Tong". He asked Yunyao: "What do you think Shang Tong? Can it be implemented to the end?"
"I don't think so." Yunyao said.
"Why?" The giant was not too excited. In fact, he knew very well that it was not realistic to let the king listen to God. The giant was not stupid, but they had no choice but to do anything. As civilians, what qualifications do they have to ask for the king? They can only set another existence above the king.
Later, Confucianism was united by man and nature, and the king's power was granted by heaven. In fact, this was the same. In order to restrain the king's power, the king's power was set to be managed by God. If God caused natural disasters and man-made disasters, it would definitely be that the emperor was unqualified.
Later, the monarch's power was not easy to use, so he introduced the hearts of the people to restrain the monarch's power. If the emperor did not follow the hearts of the people, it would be unqualified. As for the specific content of the people's hearts, the final interpretation power was in the hands of the literati.
The giant proposed that God supports and love and restrain the king with this, which is also a helpless move. In fact, it is not only difficult to make the king obey God, but also difficult to make everyone listen to the leader.
Shang Tong is basically the most ideal situation, and the Giant Zi doesn't think it can be done.
"So how can we make everyone accept both love and realize both love?" The giant asked.
Taoist Lingbao thought that the giant had asked too many questions. If Yunyao answered, wouldn’t she be a giant?
But after asking, Yunyao answered: "I said, 'Govern a big country is like cooking a small fresh food', and asked me to say 'Govern a big country is like doing business', and governing a country requires capital." If Mencius heard this, he would definitely spit on Yunyao's face, not saying benevolence or righteousness, opening his mouth is capital and profit. Mencius disdained to talk to such people.
However, the Giant didn't have so many rules, and he was happy to listen to Yunyao's thoughts: "Please continue."
"I won't talk about it in ancient times. Even in the early days of Zhou founding, I would have to deal with criminals. I would have to paint a jail while holding a stone and sitting on a punishment. It is definitely not possible until now. With prisons and torture, but even so, the social atmosphere cannot be changed, and the world is still getting worse and worse. But the criminal law is becoming more and more strict, so more people have to enforce the law, which will cost more money and more taxes." "Confucianism calls for self-discipline and regaining etiquette, hoping that everyone will go back to the past, and everyone will spontaneously abide by the rules and reduce governance costs, so I am sure that Confucianism will surely prosper in the future, because Confucianism requires everyone to be conscious, and then the monarch can spend the least money to govern the country."
"Ah?" The master did not expect that Yunyao would assert that Confucianism was booming, but what the other party said made sense. If everyone unconsciously wanted to spend more money to manage the country, the king would definitely be unhappy. In other words, if the king wanted to save money, he would definitely promote Confucianism.
From the perspective of capital, the master thought that if the "Shang Tong" was to be promoted, it would definitely cost a lot of money. He said: "Confucian benevolence has long-term and close relationships, based on blood clans. The relationship between parents and children is established from the birth of the child, so naturally there is no money to maintain it. However, the universal love advocated by the Mohist school does not have blood clans, and it costs more money to promote it. So you said that Shang Tong cannot be realized?"
"Yes, I think no country has such sufficient capital to practice Shangtong now. Especially when there is the candidate option for Confucian benevolence, he will not choose Shangtong."
The giant proposed the theory of gods and ghosts, but in fact, it was because the Mohist school could not pay Shangtong's cost, so it introduced the concept of ghosts and gods to reduce costs. The theory of ghosts and gods is still useful at the bottom, but it is useless to nobles and doctors.
After hearing the silence of the giant, Yun Yao's words made a lot of sense. Although they were told from the perspective of "profit", if everyone did not consciously accept the proposal, it would inevitably cost to implement the proposal. Severe punishments and ruthless laws are much higher than the cost of drawing a prison. However, once people's hearts become flexible, it will be difficult to consciously and will inevitably rely on external costs to manage.
Therefore, Taoism believes that the best ideal era is not the Confucian Western Zhou Dynasty and Yao, Shun and Yu, but the primitive tribal era, when everyone was very conscious.
"So how can we make people conscious?" asked the giant. Since consciousness is the lowest management cost, how can we make people conscious?
The Confucianism says that self-restraint, sacrifice one's life for righteousness, and preserve the laws of heaven and destroy human desires are all for people to be conscious, and they are all standards for self-consciousness.
"Guan Zhong did it." Yun Yao said: "When Qi was prosperous and strong, the people of Qi were very conscious. Therefore, Guan Zhong proposed that 'If the granaries are full, they know etiquette, and if they have enough food and clothing, they know honor and disgrace.' This is a spontaneous pursuit of happiness. At the same time, now that the servants are obeying a special 'consciousness', that is, the following is better than the following. Although everyone does not like the following is better than the following, no matter when the time is not right, no matter when the country is not right or wrong, no one is whipping it with a whip or force it with a sword blade. But everyone has embarked on the path of following the following, which shows that this is also a kind of self-consciousness."
"The following is also self-consciousness?" The giant was stunned. He thought that self-consciousness was good, just as Confucianism believed that morality was good, and they did not realize that the universality of the world was contradiction and unity.
Only Taoism has realized it.
"In fact, our understanding of the world is very limited, and it is just a blind man touching an elephant. Just as consciously speaking, Guan Zhong has achieved a kind of self-consciousness, and the following is also a kind of self-consciousness. But we can summarize it. To make everyone conscious, we must meet the two conditions of eating, wearing and getting warm and getting higher. This is a summary of my experience."
The giant suddenly disagreed: "How can this be done? If everyone pursues the following and the superior, instead of the wise, there will be a large number of villains and treacherous ministers who are not virtuous and do not match the position. How can the world be good?"
"This involves the cost of selecting people and management costs. It also costs money to select talents, and it also costs money to manage talents well."
"Is there no choice but to be an official?" asked the giant.
"I'm afraid these two items must be managed by capital, not by self-consciousness. In the final analysis, self-consciousness means following human nature. To choose a virtuous person and become an official, it must go against human nature and be willing to give up your power to others. This is the level of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. To be a good official, it means to devote one's energy to drive a large number of Chinese people to live a good life, to ignite oneself and illuminate others, and to self-harm. This is definitely not self-consciousness, but high-cost management." That is to rely on the law, but it is all about the symptoms but not the root cause, and it is difficult to achieve self-consciousness.
"That is to say, you can do whatever you can make yourself live well. Anyone who dedicates yourself to help others live well must spend money to guide and maintain, in addition to the bloodline of your parents and children." The giant has a high IQ. Not only did he understand Yun Yao's description, but he also summarized it.
Yunyao nodded in agreement with Mo Zi's partial summary and added: "The first point is incomplete. You should be conscious of things that can see benefits in the short term. If you persist for a long time, it will be beneficial to yourself, and if you cannot see benefits in the short term, it will be difficult to be conscious."
So Yunyao, a god, can do nothing. She doesn't have enough capital to maintain peace in the world, but only helps the people around her.
