62 Small talk

After entering the King's Landing, most of the troops were arranged to guard the city walls nearby, and some of them were assigned to be stationed in the Red Fort. Shire followed this part of the troops into the fort, and finally met Ed Stark, who had not seen for a long time, in the Red Fort Prime Minister's Tower.

The Prime Minister's Tower stands quietly not far from the Red Fort Meige Tower. The stone tower is tall and strong. Looking around from the circular window with gold edges, you can clearly see the entire King's Landing City at this time through the glass.

Low buildings are densely distributed in uneven urban areas, occasionally dotted with brightly colored palaces and spires, and wide or narrow streets are crisscrossed. People like ants look here, like small black dots, moving slowly, living in this wide and narrow city.

In the distance, soldiers surging on the high city walls of King's Landing. It looks quite hazy here, but you can still find their busy market conditions. Three huge catapults are quietly placed in the nearby schoolyard of the city wall, and the color seems to be abnormal.

"Before Lannister left, he took away everything he could, wealth, weapons, fire wizards, books and the three prostitutes in the Landing."

"The three prostitutes in the king's land?"

Upon hearing this, Charles turned his head to look at Ed, who was sitting in the prime minister's position. At this time, his head had already grown a short black brown hair, and his chin was covered with a circle of gray-black beard.

"It's those three catapults."

Ed said, put down the quill in his hand, looked up at the young man standing at the window and said, "The army of Lanli will come at any time, and outside the Red Fort has not stopped recently. You will be temporarily staying in the Prime Minister's Tower during this period. If you are interested, you can also participate in the daily trial in the King's Hall. Maybe I need some advice from someone who is trustworthy."

"Where are your courtiers?"

"It's His Majesty Stannis' courtiers." Ed corrected it, and then snorted coldly: "Those courtiers were still humbled to Lannister a moment ago. Now they will kneel in front of His Majesty, bowing their heads. How can you let me trust them?"

"In fact, if possible, I hope Lannister will take them away, as well as the people in the imperial meeting. I will remember every thing they have done before."

"You will certainly remember clearly when stabbing you in the back."

"You mean little finger?" Ed shook his head gently, "He is a smart man and has already run away."

His tone of speaking was still dull, but the little unwillingness hidden in it could still be heard by Shire, but he did not have the intention to explore the dirty things between this and his former "love rival", but instead cared more about another matter.

"I don't think it's a good thing for you to sit here." He said with some meaning.

When Ed heard this, he remained silent for a moment, and then replied, "It is because I have been the king for a period of time that His Majesty has entrusted me with this important task."

"So you just called out military power so easily?"

"An army does not need two mouths to give orders, and His Majesty Stannis's former record also allows me to hand over the army to him with confidence."

In response, Ed then changed the subject and said, "You have made great contributions in Luanhe City, and Your Majesty he intends to give you Herrenberg."

"Herenburg?" Charles was stunned when he heard this, and then he was stunned.

Herrenburg has a long history and existed when the founding monarch of the seven kings rode a demon dragon across the sea. Its builder was Helun, one of the seven kings of Westeros, who relied on Herrenburg's tall and thick walls and did not take the conquerors seriously, so he died under the dragon flames falling from the sky.

As far as Charles knows, the castle seems to be the largest in Westeros and the most tightly defended for the city wall. Its walls are thick and steep, easy to defend and difficult to attack. The city is quite large, and a gatehouse alone is larger than many main buildings of the castle.

This is an advantage, but it can also be said to be a disadvantage. The castle covers too much land and the maintenance cost is not affordable to ordinary people. It may be quite cursed. The Count of Herrenberg in all dynasties seems to have no good ending.

Its builder, the Blackheart Herons, died under the dragon flame of the invaders, and their blood was cut off.

The head of the Strong family and his two sons died in a bizarre fire, and the rest of the family also died in the chaos in the kingdom.

After that, the Rothstein family, which owned Herrenburg, only lasted for a few decades, then quietly perished for unknown reasons.

The Hean family, the He'an family, was once prominent recently, but there was only one widow who was lonely and lacked soldiers in the present. In the end, Tywin Lannister, the contemporary head of the Lannister family, took a fancy to that important military place, drove it out of the territory, and then disappeared.

At present, the poor widow is probably dead in some corners.

...

This information was told to Luce Bolton when he decided to attack Herrenburg. At that time, Charles felt that the castle was not a Feng Shui treasure land, but now...

"It's really a thoughtful decision." He shrugged: "But I'm not his vassal, and he doesn't actually need to do that."

"A reward for any merits, Your Majesty insisted on this." Ed said, "But this matter must be done after the war is over."

"Of course." Charles was indifferent to this. In other words, even if he was given the fortress, he might not have to live there - he had no money or soldiers. How stupid would he run to the haunted place alone to "eat bird shit"?

He would not be stupid enough to think that he could completely escape the protection of the army and "work alone", otherwise he would have left the Northland soldiers and went around alone, so how could he endure the fatigue and follow him here?

Now "hugging" Stark's thighs is the wisest choice.

After casually looking at Ed and the stack of letters on his desk, he thought for a while and said, "The security in this city may not be very good, maybe you should prepare as soon as possible."

Charles did not intend to get involved in this matter, but since Ed became the "prime minister of the dynasty" at this time, he had to remind him somehow.

"I'm just worried about it." When Ed heard his words, he felt as if he was aroused by his worries.

"When I entered the city, I realized that there was something different. There was no turmoil now, just because Jun Lin had just changed a new master and had a good reputation. But if His Majesty performed worse than Lannister during this period, then some things would not be avoided."

"Will your Majesty do something bad?"

"He won't," Ed said, "but his enemies won't plan to let him go."

"so……"

"Since Lannister left so happily, it is impossible for us to occupy it safely." Ed frowned and said, "I have made a lot of preparations, hoping it will be effective."

As he said this, he shook his head again.

"Rob died and had no descendants of his own line. His second brother Stannis was the first heir to the throne. I wrote to Robert's other brother, but Lan Li refused to listen to the advice and insisted on rebelling."

"Not only that, he also brought up his brother Robert to fight against the Targaryen family to falsely make a fuss. The so-called power comes from plunder, and it is a very distortion."

"I think what he said makes sense." Charles retorted secretly.

There is no problem with the fact that power comes from the gun; if you only steal other people's things, then others are not allowed to steal you?

Ed believed that his good friend Lao Zhaobing rebelled and became king was "destined to be the destiny", but Charles didn't think so.

Whoever has a big fist is the boss, this principle is common to the world.

However, he did not show this idea. It would be better to think more about magic than to have this skill. How idle is he to get involved in this mess?

"By the way, my wife Caitlin planned to thank you in person, but she was really worried about the children at home, so she had to go back to Winterfell first and did not come with me to King's Landing."

"Don't thank you, I'm so annoyed."

"I still have to thank you."

...

While chatting, Ed suddenly became hesitant. Under the gaze of Charles, he hesitated:

"When in Running City, Kate's father was critically ill, cough... she hoped I could mention this to you..."

When he said this, his face looked a little embarrassed, but the meaning was obvious. Charles shrugged: "I can only treat the injuries, and I can't increase the lifespan of your father-in-law."

"Okay..." Nodded, Ed didn't seem disappointed. Maybe he had no hope for it, but because of the reason for "the gap at home", he had to mention this.

Then he put this topic aside and began to briefly talk about the current situation and the possible scenes in the future.

I haven't met for a while, and it seems that Eder is much "cheerful" than he was at the beginning. Shire nodded on the surface and agreed, secretly a little surprised.

"Maybe you figured out something?"

"Or a small separation with his wife is better than a newlywed, and the pressure can be released?"

...

Shire thought about it with "malice" and talked about the distribution of Red Fort buildings for another while, and then said goodbye and left.

Walking out of the Red Fort Prime Minister's Tower, Charles was about to go to the underground area in his memory to find the keel bones, but suddenly someone visited him.

"This is the obsidian you need. Because the situation is a little unstable, it's only delivered now. I'm really sorry." At the entrance of the Prime Minister's Tower, a middle-aged and elderly man in simple clothes said, placing the linen bag in his hand at his feet while saying that.

"Thank you, Sir Seaworth."

"No, I should thank you, Sir Kelanston."

"What?"

"I'm not sure, but when Mrs. Melisandra was on Dragonstone, his Majesty...he's kind of..."

As he said that, the middle-aged and elderly man nicknamed Onion Knight subconsciously held the leather bag he wore on his chest, his old face flashed with hesitation and trouble, but in the end he just shrugged.

"Anyway, we all have to thank you."
