With the development of the times, the amount of information transmitted by mobile terminals will only increase.

When the mobile terminal becomes more convenient and fast, and even when everyone in the world has a mobile phone, the demand for mobile chips will eventually surpass the desktop terminal and become the most important chip development field in the world.

Then we need to consider a long-term development plan.

One thing we must admit is that it is almost impossible and unnecessary to make efforts to surpass Mid-Federal in complex instruction sets. However, it is still possible to lead the world in the field of mobile chip design that has not yet been developed. This is the so-called overtaking on the curve.

In my opinion, future streamlined instruction set chips should have the following characteristics.

First, low power consumption. Because the mobile terminal needs to be powered off frequently. If the power supply is stable, it will definitely consume a lot of power, which is a useless product. Therefore, the chip must save power, for example, it can dynamically adjust the voltage, reduce power consumption and heat.

The second is multi-core and large cache. With more cores in chip integration, the execution and processing capacity of multi-tasks will be strong, and the CPU will be occupancy. Without frequent voltage adjustment, the power consumption will be less, and the heat generation will be low. With large cache, high time efficiency will be high, and no need to waste efficiency fragmented operations, it will naturally save power.

Three cloud computing. This is a computing concept I proposed. As long as the chip is designed properly, the distributed computing volume can be connected together in parallel computing. Such separate computing volumes are not fought alone, but can also be turned into wholes. At that time, not only will the computing cost be reduced, but it can also be deployed and dynamically adjusted. I think there should be strong application prospects. The premise is that at least a small-scale cloud computing can be completed.

Fourth, ductility. I have two ideas about this. If we want to improve ductility, we must be modular. If we want to create a closed instruction set, it will be OK in a short period of time. But over time, as the version iteration increases, the framework will definitely become complex and poor in compatibility. At that time, the threshold will be increased and it is not suitable for large-scale promotion.

However, if a relatively open source modular architecture is built and only a small amount of licensing fees are charged, customers can customize chips according to their needs to adapt to multiple instruction sets, which will be lower and more conducive to promotion.

Of course, it is also possible to completely open source without charging any patent fees, creating an international platform.

This will make it easier to quickly occupy the market, but the later returns are limited. However, you can consider establishing an instruction set chip design company. If you do not pay the authorization fee, you must pay the design drawings. Then, the company uses technical support or the sale of the drawings as the starting point of profit, and can further increase the profits.

If you don’t make money first, but instead aim at national security, technical security, software and hardware ecology, technology controllability, and internationalization, open source is also possible.”
