Chapter 337 Industrial Achievements (3)

After completing the design, the next step is to produce prototypes. First, two prototypes were produced, mainly for ground gliding, short-range flight tests, and body strength tests. Of course, when testing the strength of the fuselage, the engine must be removed first, after all, the engine is precious.

After dozens of ground taxi and short-range flights, the obtained data was input into the server established by the East China government for calculation and splitting, and some detailed modifications were made to the original design, so that the No. 3 prototype was started to be manufactured. Fortunately, the aircraft in this era was very simple and not difficult to manufacture. The manufacturing time of an aircraft was about 3 months. Therefore, one month ago, the No. 3 prototype was manufactured and several ground taxi and short-range flight tests were conducted. Today, the official test flight began.

Of course, the early ground taxi and short-range flight tests test tests test the performance of the aircraft on the one hand, and on the other hand, they are also forging test pilots. There were 6 test pilots in the first batch, and they were naturally all of them crossing helicopters, and they had experience in flying fixed-wing aircraft in the old time and space. The test pilot who was the first test flight today was Zheng Zongming. In the old time and space, he was originally a pilot who learned to fly fixed-wing aircraft. He drove 9 trainers and had a total of more than 60 hours of flight time. Among all the helicopters who crossed, he had the most time to fly fixed-wing aircraft. After the prototype was produced, he had a total of 12 ground taxi and 3 short-range flights. All indicators were the best among the 6 test pilots.

The person responsible for ground dispatch is Zheng Zongming's old partner Wang Xinping. Although Wang Xinping was the captain when flying helicopters and had more flight experience than Zheng Zongming, Wang Xinping was older and did not have the experience of a fixed-wing aircraft. Therefore, let alone test flights, even the first batch of test pilots were not selected and could only do ground dispatch work.

The commander-in-chief of this test flight was Liu Guangqing, the commander of the aviation force. He is also the leader of the aviation team of the Kunming ship. He has a lot of experience in commanding helicopters on warships. Of course, among all the crossing personnel, no one has the experience of commanding fixed-wing aircraft, so he only has the experience of avoiding forced use of helicopters. In addition, a command tower was specially built and the radar removed from the Taihu ship was installed on it.

The flight runway is located near the seaside and is 1,000 meters long. In fact, according to the server's calculations, it is enough to take off at a distance of about 500-600 meters. However, for the sake of security, the runway was built 1,000 meters. The purpose of the seaside is to let the test flight area of the aircraft be on the sea surface. In this way, the pilot lands in the sea, and there is a certain survival guarantee. After all, the test flight is quite risky. Although there are parachutes, there are no ejection seats, so the insurance coefficient is greatly reduced; on the other hand, the Navy will dispatch the Yueyang ship to use radar to monitor the entire flight process as the data for the test flight. Although the ground tower also has radar, the radar of the Buji ship is of course not as good as that of the frigate, and other electronic equipment is much worse.

At 3 pm, the test flight officially began. The overseas returnees and some staff members were arranged to take seats in the middle of the runway. The entire runway was completely cleared. Zheng Zongming was dressed neatly. Of course, the flight suit and flight helmet were used for helicopters, and he boarded the cabin of the plane in the hangar. The design and layout of the cabin was also controversial at the time. Because it was a car engine, some people believed that the cabin of the prototype could be arranged by car driving, which was easier to send.

The function of the engine can even be directly used to modify the car body. However, some people refute this suggestion, believing that using car engines is just a temporary measure now, and a dedicated aircraft engine is ultimately necessary. Therefore, the layout of the cabin cabin should still be arranged by aircraft driving. Even if some power is sacrificed, it is even more unwilling to modify the car body. After negotiations among the crowd, it was finally decided to use the arrangement of aircraft driving.

The door of the warehouse opened, and Wang Xinping stood in front of the door of the hangar, holding a bright light stick in each hand, making a stick to signal the plane to leave the warehouse.

However, the project team did not have an aircraft tractor, so the aircraft was driven entirely by manpower. Fortunately, the prototype was not heavy. More than 20 staff members worked hard to push the aircraft out of the hangar, parked it in the middle of the plane runway, and aimed the nose of the plane towards the direction of the runway.

Wang Xinping turned around and looked at the runway, confirming that there were no obstacles on the runway. At the same time, he also made a hand gesture of preparation to Zheng Zongming. After receiving a clear reply, he reported to the tower commanded on the ground: "Electricity 3 has been ready to take off and request to take off."

Liu Guangqing looked towards the runway through the large glass of the tower and said, "Agree to take off." So Wang Xinping made a takeoff gesture to the No. 3 plane and made a quick move to the side.

After receiving the order, Zheng Zongming immediately ignited the engine and pushed the throttle valve. The propeller at the head of the aircraft began to rotate, causing the plane to slide forward.

Zheng Zongming held the operating lever in one hand and slowly pushed the throttle valve to the maximum with the other. The plane's skidding speed became faster and faster. When it reached a position of 200 meters, the speed had exceeded 100 yards. Zheng Zongming released the throttle valve and began to prepare for takeoff with all his attention.

When the plane slid to 300 meters, its speed reached 130 yards, which was the highest speed for the plane to slid on the ground. So Zheng Zongming pulled the operating lever and began to take off. At this time, careful people could see that the flaps on the rear edge of the main wing of the plane began to spread downwards, and the tail wing also changed from horizontal to inclined. Under the lifting of the high-pressure airflow, the head of the plane was lifted, the front main wheel left the ground, and then the rear wheel also left the ground, and the entire body was suspended in the air.

At this time, the plane had already reached 500 meters, which was where the returnees and other staff were located. Seeing the plane rise from the ground, a burst of warm cheers suddenly erupted.

Amid this cheering, the plane gradually rose, overhead, over the tree, over the top of the mountain, over the birds, and finally completely flew into the sky. Of course, the staff had seen the prototype's short-range flight, so although they cheered, they were not very excited. A few of the returnees had seen cars, but the plane was indeed the first time they saw it. Now, seeing the takeoff of the plane, it was naturally novel and exciting.

They are all people who have received modern education. They know that this is a machine, just like cars, trains, and ships. They will not be associated with strange powers and gods. But they also know that flying is more difficult than running on the ground and swimming in the water. Only a few returnees have seen news of the Wright brothers making planes in Japanese newspapers. At that time, they just thought it was a strange conversation, but they did not expect that overseas Chinese could build machines that could fly. At least Japan does not have this plane yet. And many people then realized that during the past few days of coming to the East China government, they were constantly re-understanding of this emerging political system.

Zheng Zongming, sitting in the cab, looked at the figures, trees, houses, roads, mountains, rivers and rivers on the ground, and felt a lot of emotion. In fact, Zheng Zongming was common in this scenario, but he was driving a helicopter, and now he was driving a fixed-wing aircraft. Since the fighter pilot was eliminated from the selection and position of the fighter pilot, Zheng Zongming chose a carrier-based helicopter and gave up driving a bomber. He thought he would have no chance of a fixed-wing aircraft in his life. However, he did not expect that five years after this era, he would not only be able to fly a fixed-wing aircraft, but also personally participate in the research and development of fixed-wing aircraft.

Of course, Zheng Zongming felt a lot, but he did not forget to communicate with the ground command tower, while reporting his altitude and status of the aircraft. At this time, the Yueyang ship on the sea also turned on the sea and air search radar to observe the plane's flight status and flight trajectory, and also reported the observation results to the ground command tower.

About 20 minutes later, the plane reached an altitude of 1,200 meters. At this time, the ground command tower asked the plane to change to a flat flight, but the aircraft's landing gear was not closed, which was also the norm for test flight. So Zheng Zongming withdrew the throttle a little, keeping the flight speed at about 110 yards. On the other hand, he pulled the operating lever, adjusted the angle of the flap and tail wing, changed the plane to a flat flight, and at the request of the ground command tower, he made a 90-degree turn and flew to the sea. Then he reported to the command tower that the flight was normal and the aircraft was in normal condition.

So after maintaining a flight of about 15 minutes, the plane turned a 90-degree bend, and according to the requirements of the ground command tower, the flight altitude was increased to more than 1,500 meters and the speed was increased to 130 yards. In fact, according to the computer's calculations, the maximum flight altitude of the prototype was 2,000 meters and the speed was 150 yards, but the altitude of 1,500 meters was the highest at this time. Moreover, this was the first test flight of the prototype, so it was still a conservative flight strategy. This flight state lasted for about 10 minutes, and it returned to the flight altitude of 1,200 meters again, and the speed was reduced to about 110 yards. And several "s" bends were performed.

After flying for about 10 minutes, the plane actually circled a circle in the air, and the flight time had been almost an hour, and the test flight had basically achieved the effect. Therefore, the ground command tower issued instructions to the plane and prepared to land.

In fact, takeoff of an aircraft is not difficult. As long as the aircraft has sufficient power and reaches a certain speed, it can basically fly, and landing is the most difficult and dangerous, because at this time the power has little impact on the aircraft. What is more important is the operation of the pilot. This is a mechanically controlled aircraft, and the requirements for the pilot's micro-control requirements are strictly, and if not done properly, the plane will be destroyed and killed.
