Chapter 4 In the Mirror(2/2)
"Why doesn't Hagrid tell us? And Sauron, I'm sure he must know something." Ron complained.
"It's simple, they don't believe in us, they trust Snape," said Hermione.
"Why?" Ron said dissatisfied.
"We are just first-year students." Hermione said while pulling out thick books from the bookshelf. "Which one professor or three first-year students do you think is more credible."
"Soren is also a first grader," Ron muttered.

Section 4
On Christmas morning, Soren rose as early as usual. When he pushed open the door of the lounge, he was surprised to find a small pile of gifts in front of the door. Soren was quite interested in opening these gift packages-three bags of candy, given by Harry, Hermione and Ron; a long horn of an unknown animal with a special fragrance, given by Hagrid; a very thick book without a name, given by Dumbledore; and a bottle of red wine that was very old, given by Ibicos.
Looking at the large bag of candy Harry sent, Sauron felt inexplicably, after all, he hadn't received a gift on Christmas for many years.
"I hope Harry will like my gift." Soren thought, but soon he was worried about these three bags of candy again - he didn't like eating candy.
Harry received a bunch of gifts on Christmas morning, two of which were the most surprising, one was a rare invisibility cloak, but who did not know who gave it; the other was Sauron's gift, a jade pendant, worn in a thin chain of unknown metal, apparently worn around his neck, and the letter attached only reads "Be sure to wear it with you."
"What's this for?" Harry asked Ron with a pendant.
"I don't know, it might be a talisman." Ron said uncertainly.
...
In the quiet night, Harry was wearing an invisible jacket and walked quickly. He came to the room where the magical mirror was placed. His heart was filled with excitement, and he could see his family immediately - in the mirror.
Two days ago, on Christmas night, Harry used the invisible cloak to sneak into the library's forbidden book area to find Lemay, but accidentally opened a screaming book, which attracted Felch. Then, while running away, he accidentally broke into a house that looked like an abandoned classroom. The mirror was placed in the room - it was a very grand mirror, with a gorgeous golden frame that reached the ceiling, and two claw-shaped feet supported by them, and a line was engraved on the top.
Word: "Erisedstrae hruoytubeca fruoytonwohsi". Harry saw his father, mother, grandpa and Sauron in the mirror. The family was together. The feeling of happiness made Harry almost obsessed. The next day, he brought Ron, and wanted to bring Souron together, but unfortunately Sauron didn't know where to go. But tonight, Ron refused to come with him, so he came here alone.
Harry sat in front of the mirror, looking at the family in the mirror, smiling affectionately, dad, mom and grandpa stood behind him, while Sauron sat next to him.
Harry looked at them in a steady state, his heart felt a burst of happiness, but accompanied by unsolvable sadness. Gradually, tears appeared in his eyes.
"I hope this is true." Harry murmured to himself.
As if he felt Harry's sadness, his father and mother waved at Harry, while Sauron put his hands around Harry's shoulders.
To Harry's surprise, a real touch came from his shoulder. He turned his head in surprise and found that Sauron was really sitting next to him. Sauron patted his shoulder and smiled comfortably.
"Okay, stop crying." Sauron said as he stood up.
"When did you come, why didn't I see you?"
“Not everyone has to be invisible to be invisible.” Sauron said gently, “I was in the house when you first came.”
"Really?" Harry said in surprise, and then hesitated for a moment and said, "Then you are here, yes..."
Sauron understood what Harry meant. He did not answer Harry's question and instead said, "Harry, do you know the function of this mirror?"
Harry shook his head and said, "I only know I saw my family inside, and Ron saw him become the president of the boys' student union."
Sauron walked to the mirror, pointed to the line at the top and said, Harry, read it backwards.
Heiri stared at the business for a while, then showed an obvious expression. Then he looked at Sauron, then lowered his head.
"Am I useless, brother?" Harry said in disappointment, "that's all illusory, but I know it's not true, but I can't help but see it. I'm too weak."
"It's not your fault, Harry, it's not your fault." Sauron walked up to him and comforted.
"Yes, Sauron is right."
Harry's face turned pale when he heard this voice. Harry looked up and found Dumbledore standing in front of them.
"That, me, we-" Harry tried to explain something.
"Don't be nervous, Harry," Dumbledore said softly, "Soren has been helping me these nights, and in fact, he is worried about you. As for this mirror, it makes us see only the most pursuing and strongest desire deep in our hearts. You have never seen your family, so you see them standing around you. Ron Weasley has been dwarfing his brothers, so he sees himself standing alone, the best among them. However, this mirror can neither teach us knowledge nor tell us the truth. People waste their time in front of it, obsessed with what they see, and are even forced to go crazy because they don't know if everything in the mirror is true or possible."
"Harry, this mirror is about to be removed, and I don't want you to look for it anymore. Harry, be stronger. When you can face this mirror without being affected, you will really grow up." Sauron said earnestly. "Now, you'd better go back and have a good sleep. We'll go back first, professor."
"I wish you a good dream, Mr. Porter."
On the way back, Harry asked Soren.
"What did you see in the mirror, Sauron?"
Sauron was stunned for a moment, and a bitter smile appeared on his face, "That doesn't matter, does it? Besides, what I see is the same as what you see - it will never happen."
PS: This is a transitional chapter, there is no powerful plot, and there are many side descriptions used for the plot development, which may seem a bit messy. Several important foreshadowings appear in this chapter, such as the pendant.
I originally wanted to give Sauron a few extremely powerful lines, but considering the future plot, I passed it.
