Chapter 8 The Green Goblin

Golden lights filled the hall, and the colorful crystal chandeliers seemed to be slowly rotating under the influence of light and shadow. The music with a light and soothing rhythm coiled around the hall, and important members from the military were walking back and forth in this bright hall in dresses full of medals. In addition, there were some big figures from the political and business circles in New York City.

Michael Paso and his secretary Elizabeth entered the venue at about eight o'clock. Brad Bowen from the Military Commission, a well-decorated and well-dressed old man, gave people a friendly and kind impression at first glance. He walked towards the door with a kind smile on his face.

"Go and find something to drink and relax." Michael whispered in Elizabeth's ear, "I'll call you if you need it."

"I understand, sir."

Elizabeth didn't say much, and stepped back. Brad Bowen walked over with a smile and shook Michael with his rough and powerful palms.

"Mr. Paso," said Brad, "It's a surprise. I heard that busy work always makes it difficult for you to get out of here."

"It was like that. But Elizabeth told me that today's banquet invited a lot of important friends from the military, so I think it might be really not decent for staying in the lab." Michael paused, half-jokingly, "and I plan to drink all the beer here."

Brad smiled, and the two began to walk side by side through the crowd toward the center of the venue.

“About the micro missile you asked last time,” he said, “is there any progress?”

"It's very smooth." Michael shrugged and took a cup of whiskey from the waiter beside him. "The size problem has been solved, and he is now trying to replace different types of warheads to test the effect."

“What about power?”

Michael smiled mysteriously and raised his wine glass: "You will naturally see you when you wait for the live demonstration."

"Okay, then I'll wait and see."

The background music gradually reached its climax, and the brisk rhythm seemed to drive the atmosphere in the hall to become more active.

It was not until the arrival of the uninvited guest that suddenly pushed the atmosphere to its climax.

The high glass curtain wall broke with a crisp "clang" sound. The green shadow broke into the hall on the silver-white skateboard and rushed into the hall. Two flames with black smoke were sprayed at the tail. The green demon stepped on the skateboard and flew around the crystal lamp twice, laughing hysterically.

"Hi~! New York big guys! Are your nights all enjoyable?"

He shouted at the top of his throat, then another string of hilarious laughter. The muzzle was poked out from the bottom of the glider and spit out fires aimlessly towards the entire venue. The bullets fry the glass and the plate to pieces, and the wine and food splashed everywhere. The guests exclaimed and lay down to avoid it, and their fear quickly ruled everything.

The security guards quickly entered the venue, but they were obviously powerless to do anything about such a situation. They were suppressed by the green madman standing on the glider with absolute fire, and they couldn't even last ten seconds.

The green guy was very satisfied with his control. He stopped skateboard and no longer buzzed like an annoying fly. The sharp and vicious gaze under the mask swept across these luxuriously dressed celebrities with a cold look, and soon locked onto Michael.

The glider slowly landed with the humming of the engine and hovered in front of Michael Paso. The young man stood there without changing his face, holding his arms with his hands up. He raised his head to face the guy standing on the skateboard in a strange outfit, acting like he was watching the clown on the stage.

"Look, our genius Michael Paso... is as arrogant as ever." The green guy said with a sharp voice, his voice looking weird.

"I think I'm pretty modest in dealing with most people," Michael said lightly, "but for some clowns who decided to change into Halloween costumes and jumped in from the window without being invited to the banquet... I have to admit that they are not worthy of respect."

"Tsk tsk tsk," the other party shook his green finger, "That's because you don't know me enough, and you don't know what I can do. Once you understand the terribleness of the 'green demon', you will start praying..."

"Sorry, this name has nothing else to think of except for me being old and uninventive." Michael shrugged, then raised his eyes, and a cold light like a knife shot in his eyes, lowering his voice, "Or... we'd better call you Mr. Osborne, what do you think?"

The Green Demon, an evil personality born from Norman Osborn's failed Oz human experiment, gave Osborn a physical and reflexive nerve that was far beyond ordinary people. He is a classic villain in the Marvel "Spider-Man" series. Although Michael, as a time traveler, doesn't know much about Marvel comics, he is not yet able to recognize such a famous character.

The green mask in the shape of an evil ghost covered the green demon's expression, but his eyes clearly changed a little as the identity was exposed. But he quickly adjusted and laughed wildly again.

"Oh? Am I?" He lowered his glider and approached Michael, and his grinning words seemed to be filled with a thrilling coldness. "You know nothing about the Green Devil, Mr. Paso."

"If you want to discuss it alone, I happen to be available," Michael said lightly, "but there is no need to hold so many guests here."

The Green Devil laughed again.

"Look, you don't understand at all." He said loudly, "This is the interesting place! There are so many people watching, so many audiences! The scene has just become hot!"

The crisp sound of knuckles knocking on the glass interrupted the conversation. Everyone turned around and saw a thin figure wrapped in a red and blue tights lying on the crack of the glass window being smashed by the glider, and the spider web head was poking in through the crack of the glass.

It is Spider-Man, who has become active in New York this time.

"Sorry to bother, man," he knocked on the window to attract everyone's attention. "But I'm thinking, should I come in directly from this hole, or should I have to make another hole myself? Because...you know, this is really tangled."

Spider-Man? Michael moved his eyebrows. Sure enough, this is not entirely the MCU's cinematic universe. The time when Spider-Man and the Green Devil appear is enough to prove this. It seems that the future plot development of the MCU can only be used as a general reference, and the subsequent plans cannot be completely based on the plot of the movie.

"You." The Green Demon turned his head and looked at him, his eyes narrowed under the mask.

"Me." Spider-Man flew down and landed on a messy dining table. "To be honest, Halloween is still very early. And your outfit is really not realistic enough."

The Green Demon temporarily left Michael and controlled the glider to fly to Spider-Man.

"The person who said this was wearing a spider-web head." The Green Demon mocked, "To be honest, I have a better proposal. We are not that different from you and me. Think about how many things we could do if we could work together, spider-web heads. Those big men in New York will become history from now on!"

Spider-Man held up his cheek, and seemed to be thinking seriously.

"Do you mean to rule Manhattan? Or do all the five districts count? It sounds quite tempting..." He waved his hand again, "...but then he thought about it, let it go. Because I suddenly remembered that my principle is not to cooperate with green people."

"Ha! That's really regretful...but it's not surprising at all. But if I were you, I would think about it again and again..." The Green Demon paused when he said this, lowered his voice and laughed coldly, "...Parker."

Spider-Man's eyes shrank under the eyepiece.

The Green Demon raised his right hand, and the fire suddenly spit out from the index finger of his gloves. Spider-Man jumped away with a quick reaction, and the dining table under him was immediately blown open a hole as big as a bowl.

Spider-Man turned around and two spider silk stuck to the bottom of the aisle on the second floor of the hall. He leaped up with his strength, flipped his body, and kicked the Green Demon on the skateboard together. The Green Demon raised his body slightly, and the glider pushed the tail flame out and avoided it. He laughed proudly: "Ha! I didn't hit it!"

Spider-Man flipped over two somersaults and landed on the glass curtain wall inside the hall. The Green Demon swung over and several muzzles were poked at the bottom of the glider. The long tongue of flames was spit out continuously with the sound of the "tumbling" gunshots. Spider-Man jumped away with agility, and the fierce firepower shattered the glass curtain wall. The venue exploded instantly, and the guests took the opportunity to rush to several exits of the venue.

"Green Demon!" Spider-Man was in mid-air, and two spider silks grabbed two chairs and smashed them along a long parabola at the Green Demon in mid-air, "Catch this!"

The Green Demon dodged away from a chair, then waved his arms and slapped the other one in the air, but he couldn't help but pause. Spider-Man took the opportunity to change two spider silk and quickly swung to the Green Demon, and rushed to his gliding pedal.

"Hey! This is not something you should play with!" The green demon shouted, and suddenly punched and hit the face of the spider-web head in front of him, "Go down!"

Spider-Man tilted his head and evaded, and bluntly replied with an uppercut: "Is that right? But I suspect you may not have a license to drive this thing, I have to check your driver's license first."

Two guys, one green and one red, squeezed into the limited space of the glider wing and did not give in to each other - both in their hands and mouths. The glider pedal buzzed and roamed around the hall like an out-of-control flies. The two standing on the pedal pedal rushed back and forth fiercely, but no one could drive the other down. After a moment, the running glider finally broke a new gap in the window, and carried the two men who were fighting endlessly, flew out from afar, and disappeared under the moonlight.
