Chapter Twelve Viewing the Interior, Out of the Primordial Spirit

"The first level of the mind and nature is to cultivate oneself, and there are three levels inside. The first level: to enter into tranquility; the second level: to nourish the mind; the third level: to cultivate the nature."

The sky was already dark, and the bright moon hung high on the branches of the woods on the top of the mountain.

In Feilong Pavilion, under Xie Lingyun's listening, Nanyangzi gave a detailed speech: "Let's first talk about the first level of entering tranquility. Cultivate the mind and cultivate the nature and cultivate the nature and start from tranquility. If the mind cannot be calm, then the nature will never gain anything. The Tao Te Ching says: "To achieve the extreme of emptiness and keep quiet." The Confucian "Greatness" says: "You will know the end and then have concentration, and then you can be calm..." The Buddhist "Chengshi Theory" says: "Stop is concentration, observation is wisdom, and all good deeds are born from cultivation, and are all captured by tranquility and contemplation."

Whether it is entering tranquility or stagnation, they are all about the same thing, eliminating distractions, allowing the mind to temporarily get rid of distraction and drowsiness, presenting a state of static without thinking, causing the consciousness to abdicate, and the primordial spirit to be pure! There are three subdivisions, namely three steps of cultivation and verification, one, to absorb the mind; two, to achieve extreme emptiness; three, to maintain tranquility."

The so-called "first the law and then stop". The three schools of Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism all have their own methods of entering into tranquility, but they are different. Taoism has listened to breath, counted breath, and followed breath; Confucianism has heart fast; Buddhism has watched the nose and the nose is white, and visualized..."

Now Nanyangzi explained the third level of entering tranquility one by one, and then explained and taught some key points of cultivation and verification, as well as the most important mental method. Xie Lingyun heard it clearly and understood it, and said, "Master, then I'll give it a try."

"Okay, I'll sit here to protect you, and you can go with peace of mind." Nanyangzi smiled loudly.

Xie Lingyun nodded, then put his hands on his knees, closed his eyes slightly, and began to practice.

He is proficient in the first-level "suming the mind" because concentrating the mind and regulating breathing is the beginning of cultivating nature and life cultivation. Now Hengbao is practicing every day, so he naturally has the foundation for training for many years, otherwise he would not have been able to successfully use the mouse-guiding method before.

To keep your mind focused is to think of nothing. It sounds very simple. However, in fact, ordinary people cannot control their thoughts at all. They think of the past, think of the future, and be happy and sad. This state of distracting thoughts is called "dispersion"; occasionally there is no distraction, and they will immediately become drowsy. This state is called "drowsy". Then when you fall asleep, the mind will continue to be distracted after a while, so many dreams arise.

Every day, all living beings are either distracted or drowsy, and rarely have ethereal and clear times; and "the ancient real people did not sleep but did not dream when they sleep", and real people would not dream when they sleep, unless they were intentional. This is exactly the function of the mind and nature.

Among so many methods of entering into tranquility, Xie Lingyun likes to use the Taoist method of listening to breathing. His mind pays attention to his breathing and does not let every breath slip away. However, his mind does not think about controlling the length, speed, or controls the rise and fall of thoughts. He just lets it go, let them arise and fall naturally, and finally his mood returns to a quiet state.

"Hu, Huhu..." As the breath was breathing, a series of pictures flashed through Xie Lingyun's heart. There were quarrels with Guo Denggao in front of the yamen during the day, Mo Yunfang and others, there were old laughter and twisting his butt, and there were others...

Gradually, all thoughts fell down like rain, and his heart was as calm as water, and he successfully captured his mind. Of course, this time his goal was not just to reach this point, so he continued to move towards the second-level "Zhixuji".

"No eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind, colorless sound, smell, taste, touch..."

There are five kinds of consciousness in the Buddhist theory of consciousness-only, namely eye consciousness, ear consciousness, nose consciousness, tongue consciousness, and body consciousness. These five consciousnesses will receive various information from the outside world, and then the sixth consciousness will process these seeing, hearing, feeling and knowledge. Sometimes a person will be "distracted", such as not being able to hear the call of the person next to him or not being able to see the movement of the person in front of him, because the sixth consciousness temporarily ignores the report of the first five consciousnesses.

In Taoism, these five consciousnesses are collectively called "consciousness spirit", while the sixth consciousness belongs to "primordial spirit".

The consciousness will control any movements of the spirit, which not only disturbs the soul, but also controls the body and even emotions. "Starting the Void" means to eliminate all external factors, so that the consciousness will temporarily disappear, and let the soul be the master. Then the cultivator's state of mind can be clearer and maintain a state of tranquility.

The master said that the best and easiest way to learn the second level is the Buddhist "Heart Sutra of Prajna Paramita". Xie Lingyun had no idea. He silently recited this scripture over and over again, trying to ask the consciousness to retreat first, but slowly, some strange and painful feelings appeared all over his body, the soles of his feet were itchy, the back was chilling, and the nose was astringent...

"Ake, this is the qi, blood and evil in the body fighting, the consciousness and soul are fighting each other. You just need to stick to your mind and let them go." The master's kind voice suddenly came into Xie Lingyun's heart. He should have seen his abnormality and said, "If you have unbearable pain, open your eyes and must not force it! Quiet skill needs to be accumulated slowly, and you cannot expect it to be achieved overnight."

The master mentioned just now that there will be these phenomena. Only when the body is refined without pain and is peaceful and comfortable can it be considered as the stage of extreme emptiness. If the mind and nature are not qualified enough, or if you encounter a demonic obstacle, you have to hold on and be tortured to mental disorder at any time.

"...Form is emptiness, emptiness is form...it can eliminate all suffering, and it is true and not false..."

After listening to the master's words, Xie Lingyun's heart became tense and relaxed. As he kept silently chanting scriptures, the pain dissipated one by one, and his body gradually became comfortable...

Fifteen years of knowledge have not been done in vain, and Nan Ke’s dream has not been done in vain. After all the strange things have disappeared, the consciousness seems to have fallen asleep!

If he was in the first level of quietness, he could still vaguely hear some sounds around him, but now he could not hear them at all. Perhaps the sky suddenly had a drought thunder, which would not even make him noise. Not only his ear consciousness, but all other external factors were temporarily blocked.

There is an important achievement of cultivation in the second level of entering tranquility, that is, inward vision, monks can see the inner scene of their internal organs and meridian tunnels, which is undoubtedly of great help in practicing life skills.

You need to know whether you have entered the virtual extreme state now, and you will know it after a try.

OK, see if you are full of knowledge! Xie Lingyun thought, a little divine light arises. Inner vision is actually to let the soul explore the information from the body. It is extremely difficult to detect in normal times, but now his external circumstances are all hidden...

The divine light ran around and wandered around the body. Suddenly, the soul saw a clear interior, beating hearts, contracting lungs, river-like meridians and blood vessels...

Seeing the blood and energy flowing continuously, Xie Lingyun felt very novel and interesting, including the twelve meridians, the eight extraordinary meridians... It turned out that the meridians that were hard to find in another world were like this, invisible but existed, and only the soul could see them. At this moment, many of the previous doubts were solved, especially some medical questions, and he got the answer.

However, he looked at it for a while without finding the presence of ink. He smiled in his heart, and the divine light slipped back to his soul, and all the interior scenes disappeared.

It is quite easy to "reach the extreme of emptiness", continue to practice! Entering the third level of quietness and the last level of "keeping quietness".

At this time, Nanyangzi looked at his beloved disciple with caress and was both relieved and surprised. He could see that Ake had reached the second level.

Generally speaking, it is difficult to succeed without spending a month or two. Troubled by those strange feelings, most ordinary people will never be able to reach the second level in their lifetime. Senior Brother Ake took two months, and the second brother used one month, and he himself used half a month to become the name of "genius". Now Ake has accumulated strength and has achieved success in one breath. He is worthy of being a talent of immortals and Buddhas, and he is worthy of his cultivation for many years, haha...

But the old man's white eyebrows suddenly pulled up high, and the expression on the old face changed. He saw Xie Ke'er's body suddenly moving, and his head was slightly tilted back, and he actually wanted it!

"Ake, don't be rash, don't rush to leave the body!" Nanyangzi immediately closed his eyes and used the power of his soul to persuade him to persuade him. Although he lost his life skills, his sexual skills were still in the third realm of enlightenment, and his only remaining ability could do this.

"Qingdu" is a state where the mind and mind are so quiet that it reaches its extreme. If you want to enter this state, you must achieve the third-level important cultivation and verification results, and the soul will leave your body.

When the soul and the body are separated, during this period, the soul will naturally no longer be affected by the consciousness spirit that remains in the body.

However, the release of the soul is not a joke. There are too many dangers. Usually, monks only dare to release the soul in the quiet room at the beginning, and they must make many preparations to protect their body and soul in advance. However, there are no talismans, no formations, no burning incense, and no lights around...

Especially this is the first chapter. If you do something randomly, the soul will be damaged at the least, and the life will be affected by the worst!

Hearing the master's words, Xie Lingyun had no intention of stopping. He was not a person who was eager for quick success, but there was no problem. When he came here for the first time, he had no difficulty at all, but felt that he was in the right state. Moreover, compared to being in a quiet room, he felt that he would be more comfortable on the top of the mountain. If Yecheng Mountain was his own territory, and it was a night when the yin energy was strong, the master was standing by, so what was there to be afraid of? Anyway, his soul was not afraid at all.

In any case, you have to practice this "Keep Calmness" and you have to try it out!

How to get out of the soul? Among the several methods introduced by the master before, he liked the Confucian method of sitting and forgetting. "Zhuangzi" says: "Yan Hui said: 'Destroying the body, abandoning intelligence, leaving the body and leaving the knowledge, is the same as the great communication, which is called 'Sitting and forgetting'."

Yan Hui said: "Forget your body, remove your thoughts, the soul leaves the body, no longer the perception brought by the consciousness, and is united with the void. This is called "sitting and forgetting"."

The secret is hidden in the meaning of the phrase "falling the body and depriving the cleverness". Xie Lingyun thought of opening his eyes, got up and walked out of the Feilong Pavilion, and walked step by step towards the cliff ahead.

Yan Zi, it’s because you can think of such a trick. Only by “abandoning your intelligence” can you do this stupid thing like “falling your limbs”… When he came to the cliff, he looked at the bottomless valley, turned around, and fell back with his hands open, and fell from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the valley-

Huhuhuhuhu! An extremely real gust of wind was blowing and whistling, as if he was about to fall to death. His soul immediately became a little shaken, and the consciousness was also reviving. His depraved body was swinging, and his breath was disordered... Calm, calm! Stop quiet!

Since you want to be smart, then just fall to death if you fall to death. I don’t care about Shanren!

His will became stronger and his mind stabilized. All his thoughts were concentrated on the top of his head. With the downward momentum, the divine light of the soul surged out bit by bit. Let's go! Let's go--

Suddenly I seemed to have broken free from something...

In an instant, the feeling of being separated from one's body, Xie Lingyun blinked his eyes and saw Feilong Pavilion in front of him, and a young man in the Confucian shirt sat opposite his master. He couldn't help but exclaim: "Master, I'm running out!"

Nanyangzi opened his old eyes as if he was feeling, and looked at the void behind his disciple's body. He was stunned at first, then laughed silently, and laughed happily with a happy and joyful laughter—
