Chapter 10 Confucian monks, monks and Taoists

"Master, I want to start formal practice."

The sunset gradually dissipated, and Nanyangzi looked at this most beloved disciple, and was relieved and felt a little moved. Ake's mind and physical qualifications were all first-class. To immerse him in the cultivation of life too early will kill his way. Therefore, the old man has never taught him to practice, but only taught knowledge, and spread all kinds of astronomy and geography. At the same time, he also let him follow his interests to dabble in knowledge, and not stick to the opinions of one school. As long as he is interested, he can learn medicine or farm...

In this blink of an eye, he was fifteen years old.

"Okay, you have grown up, and now it's a turbulent time, it's time." Nanyangzi nodded with his beard.

Xie Lingyun suddenly felt excited, and a bright light of excitement flashed in his eyes. After more than ten years of learning, he had a dream of making a yellow beam, and finally it was about to begin!

"Xie Gongyi, Lingyun disciple, from today on, I will teach you the essence of cultivation in our sect. I hope you can practice diligently and realize the truth in the future." Nanyangzi said with a serious face and said, "One day in the future, you will find the way you want to pursue, maybe it is to be free and easy in the world, maybe it is to govern the country and pacify the world, maybe it is to save all the people in the world! Even becoming a demon and a demon..."

The old man smiled faintly and said, "No matter what it is, no matter what happens in the practice of Taoism, you must keep your mind on Taoism. This is the outline of Taoism, do you know?"

"Disciple, please remember, please preach!" Xie Lingyun bowed seriously with his fists.

"'The Tao can be told, it is very Tao." The real Tao cannot be conveyed. What can I pass on you?" Nanyangzi laughed at his head, as if he was a kick, and continued: "Being a teacher is just your guide, but he just takes you to the dock in front of the Daohai. As for what boat you want to take and where you want to sail, you have your choice."

Xie Lingyun nodded, knelt down on the ground with his knees, pointed his right hand three times towards the sky, and sweared sincerely: "Disciple Xie Gongyi, Xie Lingyun learned the master's teachings, and never used them, and never passed on to bandits. He will definitely practice and verify diligently, live up to the master, live up to the saints, and live up to the heavenly palace! Otherwise, the sky will be struck by thunder!"

After he said that, he was going to kowtow to complete the oath, but Nanyangzi supported him with a white beard. He said angrily: "Okay, okay, you don't bother with it, even if you are a teacher, you don't accept your oath. Things in the world are like chess, why should you give yourself so many restrictions?"

"Master, it's your business that you don't accept, I swear it's mine." Xie Lingyun insisted on completing this Taoist rule, opened the master's hands and kowtowed him three times "dongdongdongdongdong".

Nanyangzi shook his head and sighed: "Why did I teach a pedantic apprentice..."

After the oath, Xie Lingyun stood up, but smiled and hugged the old man's shoulder and said, "Master, actually, I don't know if it was a test just now? If I'm afraid that if I don't make an oath, you will always be willing to pass it on! Then I'm going to lose a lot."

"Haha, you kid deserve a beating!" Nanyangzi couldn't help laughing and reached out to knock on his head.

The two of them smiled and sat cross-legged in the Feilong Pavilion, preparing to start their practice. Although Xie Lingyun had already understood the world's sects and realm of cultivation, he still said, "Master, let's start from the beginning, I would like to hear it in detail!" He liked to listen to the master's nagging.

"Yeah, okay, okay." Nan Yangzi gently stroked his long beard, made a little preparation, and then started talking.

"On the Essentials of the Six Schools" says: "The birth of ordinary people is the spirit, and the entrusted form is the form."

No matter what sect the world belongs to, it is nothing more than practicing these two things: ‘Soul’ and ‘Soul’. Cultivating the Spirit is the skill of the Yin Spirit of the Mind, cultivating the mind and nature, pursuing wonderful enlightenment and brightness, and hoping to transcend the ordinary and become a saint; cultivating the body and soul is the skill of the body, refining essence and nourishing qi, pursuing alchemy to receive life, and expecting to ascend in the sun. Ah Ke, you must remember that if the spirit is not revealed, your life will be empty; if your life is not achieved, your nature will not be sent. The two are like the relationship between lips and teeth, and they must depend on each other, and monks cannot practice and be neglected."

"Everyone in the world knows that Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism are competing for power today. So do you know what attitude the three schools have towards sexual and life skills?"

Nanyangzi laughed and continued: "In the early days of the Spring and Autumn Period, Confucianism and Taoism were not divided. They all originated from ancient Chinese culture. It was not until later that the two great sages, Lao Tzu and Confucius, were gradually divided into two schools. Taoism talked more about the way of heaven, while Confucianism talked more about the way of humanity.

Today, people believe that there are four types of Confucianism, one is called ancient Confucianism. They are Confucian orthodox and pursue the true way of Confucius and Mencius. With the Analects of Confucius, the Book of Changes-Church, and Mencius as the most important classics, "Ambition on Taoism, based on virtue, relying on benevolence, and wandering on art" is also the type of Confucian scholars who are favorites for their teachers."

"Another kind of Han Confucianism is called Han Confucianism. It is said that during the Han Dynasty, a group of Confucian scholars made some changes in their propositions that catered to the imperial power, which made their Confucianism the top one of the hundreds. These people specialize in the study of philology, and they ask the earth, heaven and ghosts and gods in everything. They have combined Yin and Yang, art, numerology, star arithmetic, Feng Shui, Qimen Dunjia, heaven and earthly branches, etc. The knowledge of principles, qi, image, and number is an extension of Confucius' annotation of the "Book of Changes". Judging from his experience as a teacher, some Han Confucians are very admirable, and some are very annoying."

"There is another kind of Confucianism that has only emerged in the past one or two hundred years. These people have newly annotated classic ideas such as "The Great Learning" and "The Doctrine of the Mean", and have distorted the Analects of Confucius and "Mencius" one by one, advocating the principles of "preserving the laws of nature and destroying human desires". As a teacher, he hates and looks down on these people the most. Even if there is a great Confucian scholar standing in front of me, I have said that.

They interpret Confucian classics out of context to meet their political needs, and then approve Taoism and Buddhist theories to create so-called Neo-Confucianism, and also slander Taoism and Buddha at the same time. What do you think this is?

Most of these people are very pedantic, inhumane, and they look down on life too much, so that they have no power to tie up their own hands. However, these nerds and antiques account for the largest part of the Confucian scholars today. It’s a pity!"

"There is a kind of Confucianism called Confucianism, which is also an emerging Confucian school. They value the most "Mencius" scripture, and believe that Mozi's "to lift the heels to benefit the world" is too much, and Yangzi's "to not pull out a hair to benefit the world" is too much. Whether it is absolutely selfless or absolutely selfish, no one in the world can do it, and it is not good. Instead, one should "be the mind is reason and achieve conscience". The "love of the people and love things" you like is also one of their propositions.

These Confucians have the character of ancient Confucian scholars, and have their own new insights. They are also confronting those Confucians everywhere. They really appreciate them as their teachers."

"So coincidental? So is me." Xie Lingyun laughed. If he was a Confucian scholar, he was either an ancient Confucian scholar or a heart Confucian scholar, and he was definitely not a rational Confucian scholar.

As it was getting late, Nanyangzi spoke more and more vigorously.

"Now some pedantic Confucians, with a misinterpreted sentence, "Zi Bu No Words about the strange powers and gods," attacked Taoism and Buddha absurdly. That is really absurd!

When did Confucius not believe in gods and monsters? He just didn't talk about it. He agreed with Gongsun Qiao's saying, "The way of heaven is far, and the way of human beings is near is not what you are." The way of heaven is too profound and too far. If you don't even understand the way of human beings around you, how can you talk about the way of heaven? Therefore, ordinary people should "respect ghosts and gods and stay away." But Confucius also said, "If you hear the way of the morning, you can die in the evening." The Master's desire for the way is so firm. In comparison, we are really ashamed!

In general, ancient scholars all cultivated both sex and life, and their souls were not biased, and they pursued proficiency in the six arts: rituals, music, shooting, impulse, calligraphy, and number. Among them, shooting, impulse refers to martial arts and control techniques, which is also life-making. Later, when they came to Han Confucian scholars, they began to become more slight and more serious, focusing on books and counts in the six arts;

With reason and Confucianism, he has become a nerd who has been ritualistic and written all day long. He has only some sexual achievements, and his life achievements are completely gone. Confucianism also values nature and over life experience. It is not that he does not want to cultivate life experience, but because Confucianism has almost all lost its fate.

The two sages of Confucius and Mencius have always rarely mentioned their lives, and Confucianism's fate is not a secret script. Except for the fact that Nanhua Zhenren (Zhuangzi) mentioned it on behalf of others, just a few words such as Mencius said, "I am good at cultivating my great spirit." As for how to cultivate this great spirit, there are very few Confucian scholars in the world who know it now."

"Well, it's so regretful." Xie Lingyun couldn't help but sigh. He also wanted to find out what the Haoranian Qi was going on one day. He was really afraid that all the Confucian scholars would become those who were "ridiculous and ridiculous" when they opened their mouths and shut up.

"Haha, this is roughly the case of Confucianism; as for Buddhism, the situation in India, we won't talk about it. Since it was introduced to our Middle Earth Shenzhou, it was called the "Futu Dao" at the beginning. In the past thousand years, Buddhism has already grown branches and leaves in Middle Earth, with oranges in the south and tangerines in the north. It has a total of ten sects of Tantric Buddhism."

"There is no good tea!" Nanyangzi suddenly laughed, swallowed his saliva, and continued: "Exposal Buddhism refers to a sect where the teachings are revealed and the classics are open, including Pure Land Sect, Three Treatise Sects, Tiantai Sects, Chengshi Sects, Abhidharma Sects, Huayan Sects, Dharma Xiang Sects, Vinaya Sects, and Zen Sects."

"Among these nine sects, Pure Land Sect and Zen Sect have the most believers, and they are also the most powerful Buddhist sect now.

The common people recite Amitabha Buddha all day long and are the Pure Land Sect that they believe in. It is the doctrine of chanting Buddha's name with one mind and being reborn in the Western Paradise after death. It was created by Bodhisattva Ma Ming, Bodhisattva Nagarjuna, and Bodhisattva Vasubandhu. After being introduced to the Middle Land, it was carried forward by Master Huiyuan. The sutras and treatises in the sect are mainly "Amitabha Sutra", "Amitabha Sutra" and "Rebirth".

Zen Buddhism is naturally more deeply rooted in people's hearts and is also the favorite Buddhist sect of the master. When the Buddha picked up flowers and smiled, no one understood it. Only the Venerable Kashyapa Po Yan smiled, and then obtained the Buddha's golden robes and bowls, and also created the Zen lineage. Later, Bodhidharma came to Middle Earth, and another reed crossed the river to Songshan, becoming the first ancestor of Middle Earth Zen Buddhism. Its teachings are based on the teachings that do not establish words, point directly to the hearts of people, and realize the nature and become a Buddha. People like to talk about catchphrases, and they all come from this.

Later, when Mazu Daoyi, the two disciples of Zen Master Baizhang made the achievements of creating a Buddhist temple jungle system. They broke the precepts and purchased fields and ploughed the fields and ate them at home, so that the temple no longer needed to beg for food from the people, but continued to improve themselves. This was also due to the trend of Middle-earth."

Hearing this, Xie Lingyun remembered the lay monks of Qixia Temple. The Sanlun Sect had already implemented the jungle system, and the circle of fields became a wealthy man. It was estimated that the ancestral home of Zen Buddhism, Songshan Shaolin Temple, would not be much better. He muttered: "I didn't expect that the root of disaster was planted, making the monks today not look like monks, but like philistine merchants."

"What does this have to do with Tao Yi, Baizhang?" Nanyangzi immediately shook his head and laughed, stroked his white beard, and sighed: "A disciple, from ancient times to today, the later, the narrower and more impetuous people's hearts become. This is the case with Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism.

Not to mention the jungle system, we only talk about the cultivation of life and life. In fact, it is recorded that Buddhas also had methods of cultivating life. However, to this day, most of these exoteric monks only practiced the spirit of nature. Except for the methods of meditation, meditation and contemplation as the basis for their practice, the others are the results of wisdom. As for life and life, they usually only practice the "Anapana method", which is a method of cultivating the mind of breathing and breathing, which can strengthen the body, but at most it is strong in the body, just like some martial artists in the martial arts world.

As soon as I talked to them about my life achievements, I retorted that it was empty. Alas! I really don’t know if it was the teacher or they were wrong.

However, I know that the Buddha once said: 'Two hundred years after my destruction, my clothes were not passed on, and the Dharma was around the sand world. There were many people who understood the Tao, few people who practiced the Tao, and few people who understood the reason.' In other words, one generation was worse than the other. From the Buddha's death to this day, it has not only been two hundred years since it was passed? Now the world seems to be full of temples and the incense is abundant, but real monks and great masters are rare."

"Yes." Xie Lingyun nodded silently.

Nanyangzi continued: "I won't say much about the teachings of the other seven sects of the exoteric teachings. In addition to these monks, lawyers, and Zen masters, there are also those esoteric lamas.

Tantric Buddhism is also called Tantric Buddhism, also known as Zhenyan Buddhism, which means that the teachings and scriptures will not be taught publicly. Tantric Buddhism and exoteric Buddhism have many huge differences, such as they also practice both nature and life. As far as I know, the way of cultivation seems to be similar to our golden elixir path. The so-called "the three secrets of body, speech and mind" can lead to the saint from ordinary people and become a Buddha in this way.

However, the Emperor Dali adopted the opinions of his ministers a hundred years ago and ordered the demolition of Tantric temples throughout the world and expelled Tantric monks from the Middle Land. The reason was that they were too strange and they were practicing not any Mahayana Hinayana Buddhism, but demonic Dharma. This was probably the result of a struggle between Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Tantric monks all ran away and divided them into two branches. One escaped to Japan overseas, called Dongmi; the other escaped to Tufan, called Tufan.

Since then, they have been illegal monster monks in Middle Earth and rarely appear. The last time they met a Tantric Lama was the one that happened more than 30 years ago.”

"Master, you have calculated it, I have never seen it before." Xie Lingyun smiled.
