Volume 9, Prosperity Volume, Chapter 32, Mastering the Commanding Heights
.
Different people, the battleships taken out by the Chinese this time are still the same perverted. China suppressed the ally of Britain and fought for maritime hegemony. China formulated a plan for fifteen Governor-class battleships and twenty provincial heavy cruisers. Governor-class battleships are the first type of battleships officially built by the Chinese Navy in accordance with this plan.
The Chinese Navy followed the trend of the main ships of various naval powers competing to carry larger caliber main guns, higher power performance and increased armor protection. Based on previous naval battle experience, the Chinese Navy decided to build heavy firepower and high protection battleships to make up for the shortcomings of quality with quantitative advantages in competing with the British Navy's shipbuilding.
The biggest feature of the Governor-class battleship is that it adopts the 341mm caliber main gun with the largest caliber of the battleship at that time, and the four dual main turrets along the <= two, with a back-loading layout. In order to see through and command the main gun in long-distance artillery battles, the front main mast adopts a tower bridge with Chinese characteristics (later, the main battleships of the Chinese Navy were transformed in this style).
This class of ships has two-layer artillery-shaped secondary guns in the long forecastle of the hull. The most Chinese-style feature of the Governor-class is that it designs a unique "scoop" bow with a 60-inclination angle (in order to use the chain +i, it will not hook the chain connecting two mines), but the water mist splashed on the bow during high-speed navigation in bad sea conditions will affect the bridge and mast command post. As the power of the battleship artillery increases, the range of the battleship artillery increases, according to the experience of the Battle of St. Francisco, the defense armor design draws on the concept of key protection and strengthens the defense armor in key areas. In particular, horizontal defense armor is to resist the strike of large-angle drops in long-distance artillery battles. The defense armor in non-key areas is reduced or cancelled.
The Governor-class speed exceeded 22 knots, making it the fastest-speed battleship at that time. Since the Chinese battleships built before were transformed into British warships and Russian warships, the Governor-class battleships that were completely designed by China were regarded as "the first type of pure Chinese warship." The Governor-class was one of the most powerful battleships at that time.

The new generation of Governor-class stimulated Britain. Britain immediately announced that it would begin to build a huge fleet of twenty-five battleships and fifty fast battleships. Germany was not willing to be outdone. The plan to build 8 Fearless Class battleships and twelve fast battleships land ships was also hurriedly introduced.
While Britain and Germany were competing with each other, China unexpectedly did not speed up the construction of dreadnoughts. On the surface, it was still a large number of dreadnoughts, but secretly suspended the construction of dreadnoughts and began to build a large number of new heavy cruisers. In this regard, Britain and Germany were deceived by the Chinese illusion. Fierce shipbuilding competition has begun between Britain and Germany.
From 1903 to 1907, the German naval military expenditure increased from 56,000 francs to 173,600 francs, an increase of 3 as much as 3. From 770 million francs, an increase of 0 francs, and an increase of more than 3. At the beginning of 1903, Britain had 44 battleships, China had 12, and Germany had 16. Britain's maritime hegemony was undoubtedly.
But Germany passed the expansion of the Naval Bill twice in 1903 and 1904, which made Britain deeply uneasy. Britain decided to build more... could not bear the construction of such large warships. However, Germany was not willing to be outdone and passed the third Naval Bill in the same year. It decided to start building the German Dreadnought.
By 1908, the proportion of British and German dreadnoughts was 43, and the expansion of the navy was a powerful barrier for Britain to maintain its colonial empire and overseas trade, so Britain would never tolerate it.
Britain and Germany were like running bisons, striving to build dreadnoughts. In just five years, the two countries built a total of 98 dreadnoughts and 127 fast battleships. If it were not for the huge compensation from the defeated countries, these two countries might have only built 1/3 of the warships. However, even so, these shipbuilding plans exhausted the war dividends between Britain and Germany, and the two countries had to stop. At the same time, they were embarrassed to discover that the only function of the fleets of both sides was to monitor each other's fleets. The two powerful countries had extremely powerful fleets, but they had to carefully calculate how to squeeze out money from the finances and maintain a huge strategic fleet.
While building the Governor-class battleship, the Chinese Navy also started construction of several new ships, one of which is the latest and strange new ship that surprised everyone. This thing that Zhao Gang became an aircraft carrier is currently in the highest secret, and there are several small aluminum objects on it, commonly known as aircraft.

In the eyes of His Majesty, he was familiar with the trend of history, naturally knew that instead of building battleships, it would be better to develop aircraft carriers as soon as possible. When heavy engines appear more than ten years later, he could produce heavy bombers and then blow some battleships to the bottom of the sea. How refreshing would it be!
You should know that during World War II, the aircraft carrier was only sunk by a battleship, and the battleship was sunk by an aircraft carrier. As the progress of the war, those who despise these little guys had to admit painfully that the planes were the direction of development.
During the process of developing the aircraft, the agency invested a lot of money, but the development work was still not going smoothly. The engine carried by the aircraft was too heavy and could only take off if it encountered strong winds. Several flight accidents had occurred and the research was in a state of stagnation. Zhao Gang finally thought that the inventor of the aircraft was the Wright brothers. This made the Wright brothers successfully develop the aircraft.
He hurriedly ordered to find the two brothers. After Zhao Gang's guidance, he finally found the two of them. Zhao Gang then discovered that the Wright brothers had developed the plane. Zhao Gang was very curious. How did these two people do not have funds or assistants? Why can they do many things that others cannot do?
Zhao Gang only found out after asking that there were several reasons here. First, the two people's wisdom was much better than one person. The Wright brothers always worked together and cooperated very well. Second, they made a wise decision to learn to fly before trying out the powered aircraft. This sounds a bit ridiculous. How can you learn to fly without an aircraft? It turned out that the Wright brothers used gliders to learn to fly. They began to try kites and gliders in 1899. The following year, they took their first glider of the size of a foot (that is, a size that can be carried by a man) to the Owl Village in North Carolina for testing. But the results were not very satisfactory.
They built and tested the second and third foot-sized gliders in 1901 and 1902, respectively, which embodies some of their most important innovations (some of the basic patents in the 1903 filed were more related to the first powered aircraft than to the third glider]. They used this glider for several flight tests. The Wright brothers had become the best and most experienced glider pilot in the world before they began to build the powered aircraft.
Gliding flight experience provides a third clue for their success. Previously, most people who wanted to build aircraft were mainly worried about how to get the fuselage off the ground. The Wright brothers correctly realized that the biggest problem was how to control the aircraft after takeoff. Therefore, they devoted most of their time and energy to explore ways to keep the aircraft stable and balanced during flight. They successfully invented the three-axis control method of aircraft ground, thus gaining the ability to completely manipulate the aircraft.
The Wright brothers also made important contributions to the design of the wings. They soon realized that the data published in the past were unreliable, so they started to build their own wind tunnels; and tested more than 200 wing surfaces of different shapes, and based on these experiments, they personally drew a chart of the relationship between air pressure and wing shape. At that time, they designed the wing ground of the aircraft based on this data.
After hearing the explanation of the Wright brothers, Zhao Gang had to say "convinced". Generally speaking, people with creativity are things that ordinary people cannot reach, so although history has changed a lot, what should be successful is still successful, and what should be failed is still failed, but these are not something God can decide.
However, Zhao Gang also sighed that if the Wright brothers had not been born in a good time, they would not have achieved all these achievements. In the first fifty years of the 19th century, efforts to engage in power flight were doomed to fail. The gravity of the steam engine and the power it generated were too large in proportion. By the time the Wright brothers were born, high-efficiency internal combustion engines had been invented. However, this internal combustion engine was still too heavy to provide power on the aircraft.
Since it seemed that no manufacturer could produce engines with a lower ratio of engine weight and power, the Wright brothers designed their own engines with the help of a mechanic. Although they were relatively time-consuming to design the engine, they still designed an engine with superiority than most manufacturers. This demonstrated their genius. In addition, the Wright brothers also designed their own thrusters. The rate of one thruster they used in 1903 was about 60%.
On 87, 1903, the first flight was made. The two brothers made two flights that day. The first one was made by Orville, which was 12 seconds and 120 feet; the second one was made by Wilburlele, which was 51 seconds and 852 feet.
The aircraft cost less than a thousand dollars and was named the Flyer by the brothers (commonly known as the Owl today). The wings are about 40 feet long and weigh about 750. The engine has a power of 12 horsepower and weighs only 170 pounds. The original aircraft was later placed in the National Space Museum of China.
Although five people witnessed the first flight that day, few newspapers reported it the next day (and the reports made were basically inaccurate). However, these newspapers prevented searchers from returning empty-handed. It was almost five years later that the whole world knew that there was actually an overloaded flight. At that time, it was the first time that China's aircraft carriers appeared in front of the world.
