Chapter 1369 The First Shovel
In 1962, a farmer nicknamed "Johnny Boy" had to sell his farm because of bankruptcy. There were many farmers in the nearby villages who had the same experience. The fashionable and young farmers had many choices. They could choose to sell their property to the west coast and seek a way out in the newly established cities in the Nevada desert. They either rely on their strong arms that have been trained to work all year round to occupy their positions on the gun, wine, money and beauty land, or simply take a ride north to Canada, and leave their hometown in the song "Happy Birthday" by Marilyn Monroe for President Kennedy, and set foot on the country that was not completely developed by the colonists.
"Johnny Boy" did not intend to leave the United States or go to the desert of Nevada. He relied on the relationship he established in elementary school to contact a classmate who had already left the village and joined an engineering team in a nearby city. Although he knew nothing except farming and raising cattle, he was drawing people from a large number of people, money and fuel. The rising skyscrapers required the sweat and blood of one rural boy after another. "Johnny Boy" saw the movie for the first time in the windows of the big city, and the movie "Lawrence of Arabia". He saw the appearance of the charming girl on the radio for the first time. Although the picture was a bit blurry, the beautiful face printed on the newspaper had already made him feel excited.
He learned the lifestyle of urban people.
The best comfort after physical labor, the noisy, sweat-smelling tavern was the only place he went after he refused to return to the cheap rental house after get off work. The gorgeously dressed prostitute on the street was his wife who spent the weekend together. However, what he couldn't forget was the cheap coffee and the always-hot hot dog. That was the first thing he had eaten after the process. His old friend drove a red Ford Galaxie 4-door sedan to pick him up in New Jersey and then took him a full meal on the roadside dining car. He listened to his childhood friend bragging about his relationship with the local Mafia boss while showing him his car, suit and watch. "Johnny Boy" nodded in a daze, and then kept stuffing hot dogs into his mouth, leaving the seats full of debris.
"You have to make a fuss, my friend." On the day he came to pick him up, "Boy Johnny" didn't understand why the boy deliberately imitated Italian accents, but this did not prevent him from keeping listening. "This job is not as easy as you think. The union leader is ours. If he asks you to strike, you have to strike. If he asks you to march, you will go on the street. Do you understand? Don't be greedy for that little hard-earned money, John Gotty will not treat you badly. No matter what you think, you can make money by listening to John Gotty, do you understand?"
"Boy Johnny" nodded.
He didn't understand the meaning of this sentence that day, until one day he received a message at work, asking him and other workers to bring tools to a newspaper in New York. A strike against printing automation was being held there, and that newspaper was actually the property of a certain Godfather of Mafia. Many years later, "Johnny Boy" became famous, and the boy who brought him into the gang died in a revenge gun shooting. To this day, the murderer was still not found. Many people speculated that it was an assassination carried out by hostile gangs.
Before "Johnny Boy" could take revenge, the godfather called him to the mansion and gave him a task in person.
Recently, the family received a profitable project. Many gangs established construction companies for this project were in a difficult situation. Just as they were about to find out the old and new accounts, several godfathers suddenly decided to jointly contract the project and sent trustworthy supervisors to manage the project. "Johnny Boy" was one of the trustworthy people. The godfather planned to send him to upstate New York to supervise the project while avoiding other families making money from the project. It is said that the project was tendered by the government, and the government officials known to the godfather specifically said hello, indicating that this project is not as good as the municipal engineering in the past. If it is too blatant, the jackals in the Pentagon will turn their attention.
After arriving at the project location, "Johnny Boy" realized that the difficulty of this project was far beyond the imagination of a person who had only done municipal engineering for a few years. On the wide lake, there was a dam composed of sandbags and concrete, which cut the lake in half. The lake water on one side was hot and the other was covered with mud and mud. The old red lighthouse stood on the rugged rocks, radiating weakly with the glimmer of oil lamps.
Someone has started construction at this moment and dug the first shovel on the muddy land.
Nearly fifty years later, the first hole dug with a shovel was covered with heavy concrete and alloy. The lake water on the shallows was accompanied by a loud noise, and it drizzled from the tightly-sewn steel, forming thousands of tiny waterfalls. "Boy Johnny" would never have imagined that the mud-filled shallow he had seen back then had turned into an extremely huge pit, because the heroin in his body and blood vessels had been buried deep in concrete piles and sank to the bottom of the lake.
Five pitch-black geometric vehicles rushed out of the pit at an astonishing speed, dragging their long tail flames into the sky.
"The pigeon has been released! Repeat, the pigeon has been released!"
Melinda May clenched her palms excitedly, and she allowed herself to indulge in a little bit of emotion.
"Start to take back the medical room!" She issued the order concisely, "We want to take away all the medicines!"
This is not a whimsical decision. Melinda May knew that the enemy could hear this command, but with the issuance of this command, the concrete alloy gates of the D-4, D-5, and D-7 channels that have not yet been destroyed will be opened, and a team of mechanics who were previously blocked in these areas will be attacked by armed squads from D-6. The team will begin to evacuate in the direction of the elevator within a few seconds of the fire exchange, and the armed squads of D-3 channels that are connected behind will join the battle and lock all passages to the medical room.

Even though the noose was already around the neck, even if the breath of life was slowly being curbed, Melinda May would not give up on fighting.
"You have never accepted how to become a battlefield commander, May," asked Maria Hill. "I'm curious, where did you learn this knowledge, and there is no educational experience in your archives."
"When Agent Colson leads us all to survive, many things are different. Agent Hill, don't look at the current S.H.E.L.D., we are moving in the direction Agent Colson expects."
Maria Hill observed Melinda May's face. When Agent Colson was mentioned, her body language and micro-expression showed her trust in Agent Colson. Most of the agents in this base were recruited by Phil Colson himself. Some were agents of SHIELD in the past, and they are still being pursued by the US government and NATO countries today. Some are even survivors of the SHIELD massacre. Everyone here trusts Phil Colson. This is something that SHIELD in the Nick Fury era could not do. It does not mean personal charm, but rules and regulations. Now SHIELD is like an open-minded family, with no secrets between all agents.
This alone is enough to make Maria Hill frown. She understands that trust can be used to rebuild the organization in the post-SHIELD era, but this trust seems to have transformed into a family atmosphere, a brotherhood that is undisciplined. Even if they firmly believe that they are doing the right thing, as long as any leader guides them in the wrong direction, the group of people who have mastered SHIELD secrets and techniques will go completely. She is now grateful that SHIELD director is still Phil Colson, rather than the more fanatical Melinda May, or the indecisive Alfonso Mackenzie, or even the fledgling Daisy Johnson.
Even the former senior agent Gonzalez is much better than these people.
