Chapter 83: Kesibei (Part 1)

Chapter 83: Ke Sibei has always been (Part 1)

Saigon, according to the pronunciation of the Song Dynasty, should be translated as "Chai Stick". Among them, sài is the Chinese character in Yue, and gòn is the Stick with the character "Nan". The Vietnamese sàigòn means "cotton". There is another explanation of the word Saigon, called "Kunlun".

According to modern research, the "Kunlun slave" in Chinese history is an Asian Malay black man from Saigon (Kunlun Island outside the sea (now Kunshan Island). According to Indian historical records, Saigon has been the largest slave market in Asia since the third century AD, mainly selling slaves to China. This slave trafficking continued until the Ming Dynasty. The ancients' pronunciation was inaccurate and mistakenly pronounced "Chaikuan" as "Kunlun", which gave the name "Kunlun slave".

Zhao Xing hurried to the Arabian shopping mall with Pu Yian. While walking, he looked at the scenery of the streets of Chaipu curiously. The pedestrians on the street were obviously divided into two levels. The clothes worn by people of one level were very retro. Even from the level of dressing in the Song Dynasty, their clothes seemed too out of date. Zhao Xing had seen that kind of costume in TV series, which was a bit close to the clothing of the people of the Central Plains in the Tang Dynasty.

The other group of people is obviously different from the former: they have high head-wrapped cloth wrapped around their heads, and their clothes are similar to those of modern Indians. Judging from their skin color, these people seem to be local natives, and their social status is significantly lower than those in front of them. Most of them follow the Tang suits with a humble expression, with a pleasing smile on their faces.

This is the real Tang suit. Zhao Xing has seen such grand clothes in "Picture of Lady with Flowers in Hairpin". Vietnamese call this kind of clothing "Four-body Jack, Tender Ba Xun (also known as "Tender Ba Xun"). ("Four-body Jack" aotuthan, a long gown, with four layers in total. "Tender Ba Xun" nonquaithao; tender is a hat; obedient is a belt; warrior is a scarf, silk and other scarf.) This is their name for authentic Tang suit.

Regarding the phenomenon that the Vietnamese dynasty's clothing and hats were the same as those of the Tang Dynasty, Hu Ji-chan, descendants of the Hu family who moved from Yucheng, Henan in the late Western Jin Dynasty, said: "If you want to ask about Annan, Annan customs are simple; the Tang Dynasty system is ritual and musical, and the Han monarchs and ministers."

As for why the indigenous people of Vietnam "twist their heads" was because the ancient Yue people developed the habit of "breaking their hair" in order to adapt to the local hot weather. However, after seeing the Han people who moved to the place, they were very envious. Because those with long hair were all nobles with advanced civilizations in Vietnam, they were willing to imitate it. If they had no hair, they would tray cloth on their heads and pretend to be long-haired Han people. Over time, "twist cloth" became a part of Vietnamese culture.

When Pu Yian saw Zhao Xing Lao staring at the group of Vietnamese natives, he smiled knowingly and said, "Do you want to buy slaves? Kunlun slaves are very cheap here. If you want to build a base in Qiongzhou, you need a large number of slaves. These people just happen to adapt to the local climate. However, I estimate that the number you need is very large, about 20,000, which will be a long procurement time... If you decide, my people can help you hoard slowly."

Modern genetic verification proves that many people in southern China have the blood of black Malays. It is speculated that they were bought by large landlords in southern China during the great development of southern China and then merged into the Han civilization. At the same time, the truly hardworking and hard-working black Malays have become completely extinct in the South China Sea after thousands of years of sales. The natives who are now staying in the South China Sea are all recognized as lazy people.

Since Chinese history has always been a family tree of emperors, these folk things are rarely recorded, and modern Chinese can only slowly verify the historical truth through history books from other countries.

Since these are not recorded in Chinese history books, Zhao Xing, a historical blind man, is even more unclear. At this time, he was already scared by Pu Yian's tone - 20,000 slaves, and this number is too scary.

If he really did, the history books would not know how to record it - the bloody big slave owner?! This reputation is not good.

"No, if they can endure hardship, I only need two hundred households, two hundred light laborers, two hundred women, let them become husband and wife, men go to repair the dock, women grow sugarcane and rice... no matter how many, it would be too conspicuous."

Before Pu Yian could answer, he had already arrived at the Arabian shopping mall. He led Zhao Xing straight into the shop. In the shop, the people coming and going were a little anxious. They seemed to be familiar with Pu Yian and greeted each other when they walked towards each other.

Several bearded Arabs in the back hall were discussing in a low voice. When they saw Pu Yian coming in, they greeted each other, but they talked in Arabic language and their voices were fast.

Zhao Xing knew that there were many taboos from Arabs. After entering the door, he did not say a word. According to the etiquette of the Song people, he crossed his hands and chests and waited for Pu Yian's introduction. Pu Yian chatted with them for a while before he remembered Zhao Xing's guest. After both parties introduced him, Pu Yian said: "These people have never been to Song State, so I don't know what name to introduce to you. This person has a long name, and the simplest name is 'Abu'. You can call him this name, and he will be responsible for the transfer of our goods."

Zhao Xing clasped his fists and said a Song politely. The other party spitted out a string of Arabic words, but Pu Yian did not translate to Zhao Xing and kept talking to him.

Zhao Xing did not show any anxiety either. He waited leisurely for Pu Yian to finish the conversation. After a while, Pu Yian turned around and translated to Zhao Xing: "He was asking, what is the way to settle the goods? Do you plan to be underwriting it by him, or let him lead the way and continue moving forward?"

Zhao Xing replied: "You tell him that I am selling a special cargo. When I went to sea for the first time, I planned to sail to the continent of Africa in person. How much does it cost to hire him as a water diverter?

In addition, I plan to settle the future voyage separately with him. If the price he paid is appropriate, I am willing to sell the goods to him and purchase the required goods from him at the same time. Otherwise, we will trade according to the first voyage."

Pu Yian communicated with the other party for a while, turned around and explained to Zhao Xing: "He doesn't know the sales of frosting. This is a new product. Once it cannot be sold, it will be a disaster. This time, he is willing to charge only 10% of the commission and run the sea route with you. If you can succeed, he is willing to underwrite your goods at half the price in the future."

"Tell him that I don't agree with his asking price," Zhao Xing looked sinister: "I only want to pay a fixed amount for the lead. He opens a price. As for the future,... he wants to distribute my goods, I will sell him 70% of the price - after all, I have crossed the Indian Ocean, and he only needs to turn over a boat."

"Take the way, the cost of each ship of cargo is 10,000 Persian silver coins; all the goods are underwritten, and the price of his sale is 55%..." Pu Yian translated back and forth, and the two sides began to bargain.

In the end, Zhao Xing negotiated the water diversion fee for 20,000 Persian silver coins, and agreed to use this selling price as the basis. If Abu is willing to underwrite Zhao Xing's subsequent goods, he will purchase them at a price of 60%. The cash will not be owed to credit.

Then, the two sides talked about the goods that Zhao Xing needed to purchase. Strangely, most Song merchants came here and were willing to purchase some luxury goods such as ivory, gems, hats, etc., but Zhao Xing's purchase order only accounted for a very small size. His purchase order mainly included some machinery and equipment, Vietnam, Indian iron ore, iron ingots, cattle, and looms...
