Chapter 69 Automobile Industry

Li Zhiwen put the newspaper's investigation report aside, and the rest was the investigation report of the British automobile industry.

British cars have always been regarded as the most perfect expression of car craftsmanship and many other words such as taste, value, luxury, elegance, etc. in cars. Many cars in the UK are installed manually, so many car brands in the UK are luxury brands.

Although cars were exclusive to the upper class when they first appeared, as people's living standards improved, cars will become more and more products that can be consumed by middle and lower classes. Therefore, the British handmade inlay technology will decline more and more, and the British automobile industry will decline more and more.

With the increasingly commercialized, assembly-based and electronicized modern automobile manufacturing, it is inevitable that British cars will find it difficult to keep up with the pace of the mainstream market.

When cars first appeared, cars have always been the representative of the wealthy class, so the handicrafts of British cars just met the standards. However, now that cars have entered the middle class, the handicrafts of British cars have restricted its development.

In Li Zhiwen's mind, in the last decade of the 20th century, the British automobile industry either sold or went bankrupt, and Britain lost all its automobile companies, which made people sigh.

The first one introduced in the investigation report is Rolls-Royce, which has two brands, Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

Rolls-Royce not only manufactures cars, but also engages in the field of aviation engine manufacturing. The famous Boeing passenger aircraft uses Rolls-Royce engines.

In the 1970s, the company went bankrupt due to debt losses and later divided the Rolls-Royce into two companies, automobiles and aircraft engines, with the intervention of the British government.

Rolls-Royce Aero Engine Company has recovered its vitality, but Rolls-Royce Automobile Company has little success and is struggling to survive on the line of food and clothing.

Bentley was founded by Mr. Walt Irving in 1919, but in 1931, Bentley was unable to operate its debts and was acquired by Rolls-Royce.

Li Zhiwen remembers that Rolls-Royce Automobile Company was in trouble since the 1980s. By the 1990s, the losses were particularly serious. Finally, in 1998, Rolls-Royce's parent company, Vickers Group, sold Rolls-Royce and Bentley to German Volkswagen for US$700 million.

However, it is obviously not a good opportunity to acquire it now. After all, Rolls-Royce is also involved in the production of aircraft engines. The British government will not sell such an important company unless it is a British man who takes action or Li Zhiwen has a strong British background behind him. Otherwise, Li Zhiwen can only wait until Rolls-Royce is in trouble and cannot get out before taking action.

Next, the introduction is Leland Automobile Company, a British car factory for more than 80 years, mainly producing bus chassis and trucks.

The situation of this company is quite complicated. At the beginning, the Austin Car Factory and the Norfield Car Factory merged to form a British car company.

By 1966, Rover Motor Company was acquired by British truck manufacturer Leland.

Then in 1968, British Automobile Company joined forces with Jaguar and Leland Automobile Company to form the British Leland Auto Group.

During the acquisition war from the 1950s to the 1960s, Leland Automobile Group owned many car brands, such as Rover, mini, Morris, and Jaguar.

However, although a series of acquisitions and acquisitions in the UK have made Lilan Automobile Group the largest automobile manufacturer in the UK and its strength has increased significantly, due to its improper management and the UK's installment payment and credit sales policy, Lilan Group has poor operation and entered a loss stage.

Over time, Lelan Automobile Group could not hold on by itself. It was nationalized in 1975, but the nationalization still could not stop Lelan Automobile Group from losing money, which made it a burden for the British finances.

I believe that Li Zhiwen proposed to split Lilan Automobile Group and acquire one or two of them to reduce the burden on the British finances, which should be adopted by the British government.

The brand Li Zhiwen targets is the Triumph Division of the Rofu, a subsidiary of Lilan Automobile Group.

The production base of Rover Triumph's division is located in the cradle of the British Industrial Revolution and in London. Its fate is like its name. Rover means a wanderer, who has been wandering since it was acquired by Leland Automobile Group.

Rover Group, after the name of Leland Automobile Group in 1994, was acquired by the German BMW Group, and was then split and sold to India's Tata Group. In 2005, it was finally acquired by China's Nanjing Automobile Group.

Although Rover has been wandering and has been changed hands many times, its popularity has not been damaged at all.

You should know that Rover was comparable to Rolls-Royce at the time. Back then, Rover P5 was known as the exclusive car of the British royal family. It was deeply loved by the Queen of England and had a profound cultural heritage, so it was easy to penetrate into the people.

Now, the only ones that can be shortlisted for the British super luxury car brands are Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Rover.

Moreover, Rover's Triumph Division is not only the only brand, Rover, but also has three car brands: Land Rover, Mini and Morris (MG).

When Land Rover started, it used Rover's car brand, but it was not until later that it started to launch the Land Rover brand, specializing in the development of four-wheel drive off-road vehicle series.

In other words, as long as Li Zhiwen successfully acquires the Rolf Triumph Division, Li Zhiwen not only has Rolf luxury cars comparable to Rolls-Royce, but also has Land Rover, a luxury all-terrain SUV brand, and a mid- and low-end Morris that can be delegated. This is simply a complete automobile company, so acquiring the Rolf Triumph Division is a very selfish thing.

Not only can it reduce the burden on the British government, but it can also reduce the losses of Lilan Automobile Group. Of course, if it continues to lose money later, it will not be Li Zhiwen's business. However, at that time, Li Zhiwen can barely help Lilan Group reduce the burden on it and acquire it. In the end, it will be too profitable to Li Zhiwen. From nothing to full coverage, there is only one Rover left.

Moreover, there will be little opposition within the British government. After all, Li Zhiwen did not acquire Rolls-Royce, which has aircraft engine technology.

The following are Lotus Auto and Aston Martin.

Lotus Automobile is known as Lotus, a famous sports car and racing manufacturer with its headquarters in Norfolk County and founded by Colin Chapman in 1948.

Aston Martin Automobile is headquartered in Guyton, England and was founded in 1913. In 1947, Sir David Brown acquired Aston Martin.

However, Lotus Auto and Aston Martin are both sports car manufacturers, with very small output and are often on the verge of bankruptcy.

Li Zhiwen has no interest in these two companies at present. First, he is afraid that he will acquire so many car companies, which will arouse the alert and disgust of the British government. Although Mrs. Thatcher has been clamoring for privatization since she came to power, it is for the British people, and she is still full of wary of the colonial people of Li Zhiwen.

On the other hand, Aston Martin and Lotus Automobile have developed well in the past two years. If they acquire, they will inevitably get 10 million pounds.

Lamborghini Automobile, which is also a sports car manufacturer, is about to go bankrupt at the beginning of this year. Li Zhiwen only needs to spend a little money to own Lamborghini, so he has no interest in these two car dealers now.
