Chapter 10 The Way of Governing the Country(2/2)
This emperor focused on civil and military skills. Now it seems that Liu Chan's skills are good. As for civil and political affairs, this A Dou doesn't look like a material that can govern the country no matter how you look at it.
Could this be the future emperor?
Zuo Ci frowned and said, "I'll teach him some emperor's ways in a while!"
In the early morning, heavy fog rose from Taibai Peak, and the entire Taibai Peak was shrouded in this fog. The Huai Temple was surrounded by this white mist, wetting the stone steps in front of the door. The sun gradually rose, but the fog showed no sign of dissipation.
A Dou habitually got up when the sun came out, and later he went to the open space in front of Huai Temple and began to practice martial arts. Over the past few decades, A Dou has developed a habit of practicing Tai Chi swordsmanship and practicing Tai Chi every morning.
A Dou practiced Tai Chi and sootheed his muscles and bones. He was about to prepare for sword training, but he felt that someone was approaching. A Dou hurriedly looked back and saw Zuo Ci walking over from a distance.
Zuo Ci still had a smile on her face. She walked to Adou and said, "Young man, are you feeling the hard work of getting up so early to practice martial arts?"
"Senior, I'm used to it."
Zuo Ci nodded, pointed to the fog in the air, and said, "Although this Taibai Peak is not very high, the fog is very thick. Such a dense fog may not be able to dissipate until noon."
Adou nodded. Could it be that Zuo Ci came over early in the morning and chatted with him about the mist?
Zuo Ci continued, "Don't underestimate the fog. Zhuge Liang used this fog to borrow 100,000 arrows from Cao Mengde! As the commander, he should understand the celestial phenomena, understand geography, understand the enemy and us, and divide the number. In this way, he can only ensure invincibility, not the way to defeat the enemy!"
Zuo Ci said, looked at Adou, and asked, "Do you know what is the way to defeat the enemy?"
Adou shook his head: "Please give me some advice!"
"Soldiers are a major event for the country! When two countries fight, the number of troops is divided into strengths and weaknesses. When the battle is fought on the battlefield, the number of soldiers is insufficient, the morale is poor, the equipment is poor, and the physical fitness is weak, and it is difficult to win; when the commander is mediocre, he should advance but not advance, and he should retreat but not retreat. He should not win; if the supply of food and grass is insufficient, it is also difficult to win! But these are the small ways to win and lose, and it is not worth talking about..." Zuo Ci asked.
"Senior, then what is the way to win or lose?" A Dou asked.
"The way to make a strong country is the way to win or lose!" Zuo Ci said, pointing to the West, and then said, "The way to make a strong country I mentioned is the way to make a strong country! In the past, the Qin Emperor of the First Emperor swept across the Liuhe and unified the world, but it died in the second lifetime; Emperor Wu of Han went to the grasslands and rushed to the Xiongnu thousands of miles away, and his troops were sent to the Western Regions. All the countries in the Western Regions were afraid, but the Han Dynasty declined from Emperor Wu. These are not the way to make a strong country!"
"Then what is the real way to make a strong country?"
"Hahaha..." Zuo Ci smiled, without a positive answer, but instead said: "In the past, all the scholars and schools of thought had their own ways to govern the country. Taoism said that they should govern the country with no way to do things, Confucianism said that they should govern the country with benevolence, and Legalism said that they should focus on laws, techniques, and power. All three have a place to go."
Adou nodded. Taoist rule inaction means that the ruler does nothing, imitate nature, and let the people develop freely; Confucian governance of the country with benevolence is the way of Confucius and Mencius, requiring the ruler to be kind to the people, and requiring everyone to abide by loyalty, filial piety and integrity; as for the "law" proposed by the Legalists, it is naturally laws and rules and regulations, "art" means political power, emperors' way and officials' way, "power" means that the monarch has majesty and makes it come out like a mountain.
Zuo Ci continued: "If you do nothing, you will have no mistakes. If a king of a country has no mistakes, it will be a small rule. If you govern in a peaceful and prosperous era, you can maintain peace in the world and stability in the country, but it is not a great rule. Governing the country with benevolence and righteousness can benefit the people and prevent the people from resentment. If there are no rebellious ministers inside and no strong enemies to peek outside, this move can last forever. But if a strong enemy is surrounded by benevolence and righteousness is the way to destroy the country..."
Speaking of this, Zuo Ci looked at A Dou and found that A Dou was listening carefully. So he continued: "The way of the Legalists is like a double-edged sword. If used for the right path, it can enrich the country and strengthen the army, establish a prosperous era for thousands of years, and benefit generations of descendants. But if it is not used well, it will be like the destruction of Qin, just passing by! Therefore, the way of the Legalists can be adopted, but it must be obtained with wisdom."
"If the lower third of the momentum has been achieved today, if you only practice the way of inaction, you may be able to stand for a hundred years; if you only practice the way of benevolence and righteousness, you may be able to last for twenty years; if you only practice the way of the Legalists, you may be able to unify the world for thirty or forty years, but it cannot last forever!"
After saying that, Zuo Ci turned his head and looked at Adou, and then said solemnly: "There is no good or bad way to govern the country, only right or wrong way. Whether it is Taoist, Confucian, or Legalism, as long as it can enrich the country and strengthen the people, defend against strong enemies outside, benefit the people at home, be harmonious with the people, and be happy with the people, is the way to be taken!"
Adou nodded as if he had some insight. Adou had never been involved in political affairs before. Although there were some things about the way to govern the country in "Meng De's new book", most of them talked about military farming. What Zuo Ci said now is something that Adou had never thought about before. For Adou, it was a brand new field.
Seeing Adou's thoughtful look, Zuo Ci took out a book from his arms, handed it to Adou, and said, "This is some of my experiences about governing the country that I have summarized for decades of reading the classics of various schools of thought. I will give you some usefulness in the future."
Adou took it and found that there were three big words "Hundred Schools of Medicine" written on it, and at this time, Zuo Ci gradually moved away.
Adou couldn't wait to open it, searching for a long time, and found that it was all about the theories of various schools of thought and what is desirable, and there was no such thing as martial arts.
Adou sighed helplessly. He thought that a master like Zuo Ci would have to give him some martial arts secrets or something, or wrote some of Zuo Ci’s experience in martial arts, but unexpectedly, there was no mention of martial arts above.
