Chapter 18 Assassination
At dawn in Vienna, the sky was drizzling.
The German Embassy, Chen Tian’s room, the wine bottles and cups all over the ground, the whole room was filled with wine.
A person in disheveled clothes was lying on the bed, and half of the quilt had slipped to the ground.
Bang bang bang bang!
"Jiji! Jiji!" Oli was knocking outside the door.
"Uh... the head hurts so much! This fat man won't come so early to seek revenge!" Chen Tian got up in disappointment, patted his head, and opened the door.
"Oh, Oli! Why is it so early? I was embarrassed yesterday, I forgot you alone. But I'm very sleepy now, come and find me again in the afternoon!" Chen Tian was about to close the door.
"The Russian prince was assassinated!" Oli frowned, the smell of wine was so strong!
"What?" Chen Tian's eyes suddenly lit up, "When? Are you dead?" Now, he has hope again.
"Just two hours ago, the Russian prince seemed to be fine!" Oli paused, "but I heard that Princess Linda was seriously injured!"
"Ah? How could it be! Let's go to the palace to see her!"
"Wait a minute! There is something more important!" Oli pushed Chentian into the room, closed the door, and said softly:
"Just just now, we caught two people who climbed over the wall, one of whom was shot. Depending on the situation, it is very likely that they were assassins who assassinated the Russian prince! Now they are locked in the basement by us, and the ambassador asked me to ask you for instructions!"
"Okay, wait a moment, I'll be fine right away!"
Chen Tian hurriedly put on his clothes, washed his face and followed Oli down.
In the basement, the German ambassador to Austria, Duke Hart, and several officers were already there, while a middle-aged man was tied to a stool against the wall, and a doctor was helping him with the wound.
"Your Highness, you are here! These are the two people we just caught. Now we only know that they are Russians, but they are unwilling to explain their purpose and the reason for their injuries!" Duke Hart walked to Chen Tian and whispered, "I have ordered the embassy to be martial law, and no one can leak this matter. This matter is very serious. For safety reasons, we did not dare to use telegram to notify Berlin. Your Highness, you see what we should do now."
"Well, it's great! I'll handle this matter. After that, I will personally report everything that happened here to His Majesty the Emperor. Your loyalty and outstanding performance to the Empire will be rewarded as you deserve!"
"Oh! That's so honorable! Thank you, Your Highness!"
"Well! Do they refuse to say anything?"
"Yes, they just shouted in Russian and let them go!"
"Revolutionaries, Social Democratic Labor Party, Comrades, Lenin." Chen Tian signaled the translator to translate these to the two Russians.
After listening, the tied Russian stared at Chen Tian with surprise, and then talked about a bunch of things.
"Your Highness, he said he would talk to you alone."
Chen Tian glanced at the ambassador, who took other officers and doctors out of the basement, leaving only Chen Tian, Oli, the translator and the two Russians.
"Translator, I want you to swear to God that you are not allowed to tell anyone what we say today! Otherwise, you and your family..."
"Yes, Your Highness the Prince!"
"Well, okay! Let's start!" Chen Tian moved a chair and sat in front of the two Russians.
"You are the revolutionary party of Russia! Think about your situation clearly. Now only here is safe, and there are people who arrest you outside!"
"We are not afraid of death!" The Russian sitting looked very tall, and the one lying down also made a "uh-hh" voice to express support.
"The revolution has not been successful yet, are you planning to die like this?" Chen Tian said lightly.
The two Russians exchanged surprise glances at each other, and the Russians sitting spoke a lot of whispers.
"Why should we believe you! You are also imperialist, capitalist! What are your conspiracies?"
"You just need to remember one sentence: there are no eternal friends, no eternal enemies, only eternal interests. When we have common interests, then we can be friends and help each other!" Chen Tian stood up, stared at the Russian's eyes, then patted his shoulder, and smiled cunningly:
"You are going to overthrow the current Russian Empire, and we Germany hope that there will be one more powerful enemy in the East."
After thinking for a long time, the Russians finally made a decision.
"Okay! Dear Prince, we have decided to work with you. But, what do you want us to do?"
"You are here to recover from your injuries. I will send you back to Russia after the show is over. You will tell your superiors about what happened here and ask them to send someone to Corniesburg to contact me."
Chen Tian turned around and walked towards the door, suddenly stopped and looked at the translator.
"Sir Translator, I hope you will go back to Germany with us and then play for me. This will be good for everyone, okay?"
"Your Highness, the honor is so great!" The translator was smart. He had already realized what the conversation just now meant. If he refused, he would probably not be able to live to see the sun of tomorrow.
"very good!"
Chen Tian then told Oli to stay here to take care of the Russians, then asked the ambassador to give some instructions, and then went straight to the palace with the ambassador.
"His Majesty the King, the German Ambassador asked for a visit!" King Joseph of Austria sat on a chair, supporting his head with his hands, and Princess Linda was still unconscious on the bed beside her.
"The Germans are here to join in the fun! Damn it! Has the assassin been caught yet?" King Joseph stood up angrily.
"Back to Your Majesty, not yet! We have already searched the whole city, I believe it will be soon..."
"Waste! A bunch of waste!" Joseph retracted back to the chair helplessly.
"That German ambassador..."
"Let him in!"
Outside the door, Chen Tian stood behind the ambassador, and his army captain's uniform was still yesterday.
"Mr. Ambassador, His Majesty the King invites you in!"
Chen Tian was about to follow in, but was stopped by the servants beside him.
"His Majesty the King asked the Ambassador to come in alone."
Duke Hart glanced at Chen Tian and walked in alone.
Chen Tian could only look from a distance when the door opened. Linda lay quietly, and a group of doctors were spinning around in a hurry.
"Barewell! Even my own woman can't be protected!" Chen Tian looked at the Russian prince sitting on the other side and cursed gently. The guy just had a piece of gauze on his forehead, and he looked indifferent. Chen Tian wanted to rush up and beat him up so hard that he couldn't get up.
"Boy, don't let me encounter it on the battlefield!"
A quarter of an hour later, Duke Hart came out of the room.
"Duke, how is Princess Linda going?" Chen Tian asked anxiously, pulling him.
"Your Highness! Alas..." Duke Hart shook his head.
"Say! Aren't you going to assassinate the Russian prince? Why did you hurt the Austrian princess?" In the basement of the embassy, the uninjured Russian looked at the gentle and polite German prince in horror, but now he was holding his collar and shouting.
"Jiji, don't be excited!" Oli hurried over and pulled Chen Tian away.
"We were mixed in the crowd of banquets and entered the palace. After the banquet, we secretly came to the bedroom of the Russian prince. When he was about to be with the Austrian princess, we rushed in and shot Agreni. Who knew that he actually used the princess as a shield. The princess was shot twice on the spot, and Agreni took the opportunity to jump out of the window and escape." The Russian said unwillingly, "Agreni, a beast! He didn't know how many revolutionary comrades he had harmed! One day I will kill him with my own hands and throw his body into the wilderness to feed the wolf!"
"Bang..." Chen Tian punched heavily on the table.
"Beast! He actually blocked the gun with a woman for himself! Agreni!"
A week later, the two Russians mingled in Chentian's carriage and left Vienna together.
"Prince, thank you! It's time for us to go back!" The Russian stretched out his hand.
"Take care! Go back and contact your organization as soon as possible!" Chen Tian shook hands with them one by one, "Your Comrade Lenin should be in Germany now too! I hope you have the opportunity to see him!"
The two Russians showed surprised expressions again.
(In February 1900, Lenin's exile in Siberia ended. He moved to Western Europe shortly after returning to Petersburg and founded the first Russian Social Democratic Labor official newspaper, "Mars", in Germany.)
"Okay, Oli! Let's go to Berlin!" Chen Tian got into the carriage.
"Berlin? We don't go back to Corniesburg directly?"
