Chapter 1 Stone Glass

Northland, snow field.

The cold wind is blowing.

On this snowy land, a group of teenagers were queuing up to collect supplies.

This is a square of black stone. The soldiers wearing cotton coats and armor are unloading the heavy baskets from the carriage while presiding over the distribution of supplies.

"Shili." The soldier recited his name according to the list, and soon someone responded: "Come."

The soldier placed a basket in front of Shili.

Inside were frozen like stones, jerky meat, and potatoes.

"Is there any charcoal ration?" The girl called Shili has short light blonde hair and a pair of ice-blue eyes under her short hair.

She had some freckles on her face, and she looked like she was only eleven or twelve years old.

"It's a pity that starting from this winter, you need to find fuel for yourself." The soldier said with no regrets when he looked at Shi Li.

"You should know how cold this winter is. If we live in a place without fuel, half of the people will die of death in one night." Shi Li reluctantly argued.

"This is something you need to consider solving." The soldier no longer looked at Shi Li, but instead called the next name: "Zhao Qiang."

"Report to the sir, Zhao Qiang is sick, so he didn't come. Can I take his share with him? If you don't trust me, you can go back with me." A blond boy said with a winceful look at the soldier.

"Don't you know the rules?" The soldier frowned: "Only by coming in person can you get your own supplies, and you are not allowed to collect them on your behalf."

"He is still alive, but if he cannot get his supplies, he will definitely die, sir." The boy begged.

"Your purpose is to survive." The soldier looked at the other party coldly: "What's your name?"

"Qiansen." The blonde boy spoke.

The soldier found Qian Sen in the roster and then stroked it with a black charcoal pen on it: "Qian Sen, right? Your share of supplies this month is reduced by half as your enthusiastic reward."

Qian Sen trembled instantly when he heard this.

But he never dared to say a word again.

The soldier began to call the next name with satisfaction: "Li Lan."

At this time, Shi Li had already left with her own food on her back.

This is a backpack weighing 70 or 80 kilograms. Even though Shi Li is developing faster as a girl, the size and weight of this backpack still seem a bit exaggerated compared to her.

But while the girl stepped on the snow step by step, leaving deep footprints, her figure did not shake at all.

Shili's road is different from other children's roads.

They all carried their own baskets together in groups, and even walked towards the same destination with a smile, while Shi Li was much more lonely and she was the only one who walked on the road she was walking.

In the morning, she followed this road to collect the rations for this month.

And now, she also followed this road back little by little.

The end of Shili is a cave halfway up the mountain. The entrance of the cave is so narrow that it cannot even stuff the basket in. Shili can only put the basket in the hole and then move the food inside into the cave bit by bit.

There is fire burning in the cave.

This is a bonfire that is bulging with branches and weeds. On such an ice field, there is extremely scarce vegetation, so it is really hard for stone glass to find these materials for making fire.

But it is obvious that such materials will be exhausted soon.

There is no supply of charcoal this winter, nothing worse than this.

Shi Li finally moved all the supplies in the back basket into the cave. She took out a small iron bucket, dug out the snow, compacted it, and then put it on the bonfire to roast it. She watched the snow gradually melt and boil it, then wiped the potatoes she had just obtained with the snow and threw them in with the skin.

Cooking potatoes is a long process.

What's more, the fire is not strong enough.

Shi Li squatted beside the fire, waiting quietly, adding some precious firewood to the fire from time to time.

Time passed by bit by bit. Shi Li calculated that the time was almost over, stood up, took off the iron bucket, and then took out the potatoes inside with a wooden stick and placed them on a plate.

She walked towards the depths of the cave with her plate.

In the deepest part of the cave, there is a bed piled up with fur and straw.

A small figure was trembling on this simple bed.

"Feng'er, it's time to eat." Shi Li said softly, "I'll change the medicine for you after dinner."

The figure on the bed was not moving.

Shili sat beside the bed and began peeling the cooked potatoes.

The peeled potato peel was not thrown away, but was carefully placed on the plate - because it was her own lunch.

The bare potatoes were sprinkled with some snow-white salt, and Shili brought the potatoes closer to the boy's mouth on the bed.

The boy gritted his teeth.

"Feng'er." Shi Li gently called the boy's name: "Where does it come from if you don't eat?"

"Sister." Shi Feng lay on the bed with tears in his eyes and said, "Let me die."

"What are you talking about again?" Shi Li looked at the other party: "We have already reached this point, how can we give up easily?"

"If it weren't for me, my sister wouldn't have to take me to such a ghost place." Shi Feng reluctantly opened his eyes and looked at Shi Li: "You know, if you are injured and unable to walk on this snowy field, the best way is to find a place to die obediently."

"Why did my sister insist on saving me?"

As he said this, Shi Feng lifted the fur covered by his body hard, revealing the huge wound on his chest - it was a wound that was almost penetrated. Fortunately, it did not become suppurated because of the cold weather. But even so, the wounds that had applied the medicine were still leaking out of the pus.

"I'm obviously going to die."

Shi Li didn't say anything. She just silently pulled Shi Feng back the fur, and then stuffed the cooked potatoes into Shi Feng's mouth without mercy.

"Tell me, do you want to live?"

"As long as you want to survive."

"I won't let you die."

...

...

When the boy on the bed finally fell asleep in a drowsy way, Shi Li came outside the cave alone.

It's very cold outside.

But it's very quiet outside.

"This winter may be colder, but there is not enough food and fuel for winter. Feng'er's injury shows no signs of good health, new supplies are getting less and less, and charcoal is gone."

Shi Li sat at the entrance of the cave and said to herself, holding her shoulders and looking at the sky.

"Who can teach me what should I do?"

"I just want to keep my brother alive."

"I don't know, I don't know if we can get through this winter."

As he said this, Shi Li lowered her head and couldn't help sobbing in a low voice.

Even though it was a little trembling with cold.

In any case, you cannot let your younger brother know his despair and helplessness. In any case, you cannot let your younger brother know that the powerful sister usually cries until she can't sleep every night.

At this moment, a red bead slowly rose in front of the stone glass.

It emits a glimmer of light and rotates slightly in the dark night.
