Chapter 58 Shadow Plane(1/2)

The world is dark, with the smell of pine and moss and a hint of chill floating in the wind.

Pale mist rose from the black soil, and the dark knights in the distance walked quietly like ghosts among the gravel and chaotic wood, heading straight down the river valley and heading towards the light that scattered like pearls.

There are so many ghost fires there that are too many that Brian can't calculate.

Hundreds and thousands of ghostly fires form a swaying light belt, accompanied by the deep river, and it looks like two rivers surging at the same time.

The group of skeleton knights ran down the ridge without raising the flag or blowing it. There was a silence. Only the river flowed in the distance, the sound of horse hooves, and the collision of bone armor.

"This is the shadow plane." Seeing the skeleton knight patrolling in the distance disappearing silently on the foggy ridge, Karadna poked her head out of the ruins and couldn't help but exclaim in a low voice: "Sure enough, you can only deeply feel what a dark place that resists light."

Although the sorcerer said it easily, Brian could clearly feel that the slightest movement of her grasping the five fingers of her arm, the slightly opened and closed movement probably had already exposed her inner tension.

Brian nodded slightly, did not answer, nor did he point out her pretentious behavior at this time, but instead observed the surrounding environment vigilantly.

The landscape of the shadow plane is very strange and always looks very dark, and it will never make people feel warm, and the cold atmosphere will never linger.

What makes people even more frightened is that when they are in a shadow plane, they can always hear many strange sounds, as if they feel something dirty is around them, but when they look carefully, they can't find anything. They keep feeling that they are being watched by someone.

In fact, the shadow plane can also be called a shadow of the main material plane, that is, the shadow of darkness.

At any position in the main plane, the corresponding projection can be found in the shadow world.

For example, if there is a mountain somewhere in the main plane, then the mountain must also exist at the same location in the shadow plane.

The difference from another connecting ether plane is that the shadowed world looks physical and material, and it truly reflects the world itself.

Of course, as a projection on the dark side of the world, the scene displayed by the shadow plane always seems a bit distorted relative to the prototype of the main plane.

Therefore, the projection of the green swamp was originally filled with rotten vegetation, and the projection of the vast green swamp looked like a large black swamp.

Where Brian and Karadna appear is the distorted projection of Hirozawa in the shadow plane.

Like the swamp of the main plane itself.

This swamp is full of dense vegetation, and countless streams flow in the jungle, surrounded by cypress and shrub ground, and small ponds and waterways covered with reeds are dotted between them.

But the biggest difference is that the vegetation and river here are all dark gray, black and white.

Because this is a dimensional space where all colors are drawn away from except for black, white and gray. It is a dark place that resists light. The sky inside is a pitch-black dome, with neither the sun nor any starlight.

There will never be natural light in this world, and it will always be shrouded in unnatural darkness. Without the blessing of any gain magic, ordinary people can only faintly see things within 20 meters, and they can't see anything beyond this range.

At this moment, although Brian and Karadna appeared at the fortress of the material world located on the projection of the shadow plane, they were no longer on the tower just now.

The surroundings look very similar to the fortress hall, but they are obviously not the same place.

Simply put, where they are now, it is like the scene after the fortress hall became ruins.

The gates, columns and statues here are full of cracks, and the paint and surfaces seem to have peeled off to the ground.

Looking out from the larger cracks in the wall, it was a dark night sky.

There are two wooden doors on the south side of the hall, located on the left and right, and the north side is the same as the previous hall, which is an iron door.

A gloomy, stress-filled darkness permeates the air.

The three lanterns hanging in the house can only render the interior into a shadowy atmosphere, and the corner of the hall is even more heavy and dark.

In Brian's eyes, all the colors here dimmed, constantly changing towards gray tones.

Looking at the shadow passage that had just passed, the Dusk Gate, he found that the portal had turned into a white luminous sphere.

"Bryan, have you discovered it?" The sorcerer on the side looked around and said in surprise his new discovery. "I remember very clearly that in the material world, there were obviously five statues in this hall, but now there are only three, missing Queen Inkra of Esparin and Prince of Crown Paraglad."

"You said that when you were in the material world, you figured it out. This is a shadow plane, and it doesn't make people wonder what incredible things happen."

Brian got up and left the bunker ruins. Karadna snorted, hurriedly followed, and asked, "Where are we going now?"

Brian was about to speak, but his steps stopped when the sorcerer saw his serious expression and swallowed the words he was about to say again.

As the hall fell into a strange silence, the two of them heard a dull footstep at the same time, echoing behind a door on the south side of the hall.

At the same time, there were some horrifying sounds of tearing something apart, and slight and fine scratching something.

This reminded Brian of the first time he was a horror scene in a certain movie.

Sure enough, without blocking his sense of smell, he soon smelled a faint smell of blood.

Brian signaled the sorcerer beside him not to speak. The latter nodded vigorously, and his body unconsciously approached him a few points, almost covering his soft body.

In an instant, a pure and crazy energy spread throughout Brian.

When the sorcerer Karadna, who was very close to Brian, saw this, her eyes widened in surprise, and her nervous expression relaxed. She quickly let go of her perception to quietly feel the pure energy fluctuation.

Brian did not waste time, gently rubbed his ancient ring to activate the attached special ability: the Sword of Stars.

Accompanied by the pure and frenzied chaotic energy, it surging in the air, and in an instant, it all gathered on a long sword with faint starlight condensed in Brian's hand.

In the blink of an eye, this translucent force field energy sword turned into a deep purple light sword under the influence of chaotic energy.

[Sword of Stars: When the wearer's personal level reaches level 15, he can activate this ability and create a translucent force field sword with a flashing light out of thin air. This creation is regarded as a magic weapon of 4 and can enjoy various temporary or constant gain states.]

Seeing this long sword formed by condensation, Brian showed a hint of dissatisfaction in his expression, because with the blessing of "Chaos surge", the power of this sword only increased by 50%.

With a thought, he dispelled it, and once again used the chaotic energy surging around his body to condense a sword of force field again.

This time he was lucky and received the strongest double blessing.

After the weapon was adjusted, he immediately sacrificed the curse fire and gently stroked the sword body of the deep purple force field energy sword. Then, under the influence of the curse fire, the sword shone with a blue and white luster representing the curse fire energy.

After everything was ready, the sword in Brian's hand had turned into an 8 magic weapon, and at the same time, with the blessing of the curse fire, he obtained the characteristics of crushing and absorbing magic.

"What are you doing?" Karadna asked with confusion: "Are you planning to be a melee mage?"

"That's right." After Brian adapted to the feel of the sword, he explained to the sorcerer beside him:

"This is the shadow plane. When my best fire element magic is released, not only will the power be reduced by half, but it may also fail to release it. Therefore, if you want to deal with this group of miscellaneous soldiers with the fastest efficiency, or kill the ancient black dragon, this weapon is the most suitable choice."

Fortunately, Brian is glad that his curse fire belongs to native magic energy and will not be affected by the characteristics of the shadow plane, otherwise his combat power will be reduced by at least half.

"So that's it." Karadna suddenly realized and pointed, her expression seemed to be just remembering the characteristics of the shadow plane.

After checking the surrounding conditions, Brian kicked the sound of the wooden door.

Immediately afterwards, the blood stasis and the filthy aura emitted by the internal organs rushed over and filled the air of this dark room.

Even though Brian was prepared for it, his stomach was twitching due to the very scent.

He forced himself to calm down and look around.

The room looks to be at the bottom of the fortress's octagonal tower, with a decaying spiral wooden ladder leading to the upper floors of the tower.

In the room, several human corpses, dismembered to pieces, were hung with iron chains behind the stairs and on the wall opposite, just like pork hung by the meat dealers.

A tall and powerful monster, shocked by the scene in front of him, was holding a butcher knife in his hand, looking like an upright six-armed tiger.

Its body is covered with gray-black fur, and its face combines the characteristics of humanoids and felines.

"It turned out to be an outsider in the material plane?"

The butcher put his surprised expression, placed the butcher knife on the chopping board, scratched his head, and showed a confused look in his eyes, muttering to himself: "Okay, it seems that you shouldn't be here, but it doesn't matter, I just need fresh flesh and blood."

As soon as he finished speaking, the sharp sword in Brian's hand slashed through the void, slashing the head of the six-armed tiger with a dazzling speed, and blood surged out under the squeeze of his chest.

"Awesome! What a sharp sword!"

Seeing this scene in front of you, the sorcerer standing outside the door, playing with a strand of hair hanging on his chest, couldn't help but exclaim, "One sword has solved a six-armed tiger with a level 4. It seems that your chaotic energy is not only pure, but also has not weakened much."

Brian held the sword that had returned indifferently, inserted it into the scabbard made of psychic energy to block the emitted light, and then shouted at the sorcerer who was standing outside the door in a daze: "What are you talking about? Keep up quickly."

What a joke, if a magic weapon of 8 cannot even break the opponent's weakest defense, then his chaotic energy will be too expensive.

In any case, he is also a strong man in the legendary Arcane and Mind Warlock. If he cannot kill enemies below his level like cutting melons and vegetables, it will simply throw away the face of their time traveler family.

Seeing the dead butcher, Brian quickly looked at the room, took Karadna over a pool of dim lights and walked towards the stairs.

The upper room of the tower is placed at the end of a black marble throne with a glitter.

The shadows surround it and slowly flow around the throne.

It seems that this room was used as a star-gazing room, observatory or watchtower.

Because the conical ceiling and the upper end of the wall are inlaid with blind-like windows, the surrounding walls are also decorated in darkness, with the stars covered night sky.

Looking up from the window, it was a dark night sky, dark everywhere, with only one direction with light, which looked particularly dazzling in the dark world.

On the south side is the hall where Brian and his two men passed before, and the lights emerged from the gap between the ceiling and the wall.

And the farther place is shrouded in darkness, and it is impossible to see clearly...

"You are not planning to take a boat, right?" Karadna said with a pale expression as if she noticed where Brian's eyes touched.

"Yes, we need to go to a lost monastery." Brian retracted his gaze and said thoughtfully:

"This is the shadow plane, powerful shadow dragons and various undead creatures, flooding this desolate plane. If we want to complete the task, we can only track the traces of the Shar Church, otherwise we will easily get lost here."

"Okay." Karadna nodded helplessly.

"What?" Seeing the other party's disgusting expression of the ship, Brian smiled and said, "Don't tell me, you are a sorcerer with the ability to reach the legendary realm, and you have the funny shortcomings of seasickness."
