Chapter 23 Death Party
On the evening of Halloween, the auditorium was already decorated with live bats by professors. Hagrid brought huge pumpkins from his cottage, which were carved into lanterns, big enough for two or three people to sit in it.
Everyone was happily preparing for the Halloween banquet. It is said that Brees prepared a large bag of flapping human-faced moths to be released during the banquet.
Theodore sincerely advised him not to do so, if he did not want to be beaten to death by the angry little wizards.
Daphne tied her soft blonde hair with a bat-shaped bow, and her turquoise eyes turned red by her magic. She thought this would make her look like a little demon, but Brian felt that she was more like a rabbit.
Draco was trying hard to collect a group of fake bats flying around in the dormitory. Goll accidentally knocked over the container and put them out. The fake bats were flapping their wings and ramming around.
"There are many nets!" A fake bat hit Brian's face, and he could no longer bear to use the spell used by Mrs. Greengras during the holidays to capture them all.
"Oh, you're doing this beautifully." Draco said with disgust. "I remembered to help when they hit the face."
"I think you're having a good time." Brian smiled.
"I heard you are not going to attend a banquet tonight?" Draco asked, his gray eyes full of inquiry.
"Well, I want to see a completely different scene." Brian held his cheek and said, "A ghost party, I think it would be the ultimate collision between life and death..."
"Oh, that's really romantic." Draco said slowly, "Maybe you can try out what moldy maggot-covered bread is there."
"So I'm ready." Brian pointed to the food beside him, "Actually I've had dinner in advance."
When everyone set out for the auditorium, Brian walked alone towards the underground classroom. In the gloomy aisle leading to the party, Brian saw Luna. She was wearing a pointed hat with big bat wings, and the necklace on her neck was replaced with small orange pumpkins.
"Hi, Luna." Brian walked over and said hello with a smile.
Luna was looking at the surrounding decorations with interest. Small black candles were lit in the corridor, emitting blue light, making the place look even colder.
"Hi, Brian." She responded as if she had woken up in a dream.
An unpleasant sound came from the front of the corridor, like a thousand nails scrambling around the blackboard, causing Brian to frown.
"Is this the music that ghosts like? It's very different." Luna walked forward with her footsteps lightly. "Maybe what the ghost heard in her ears is completely different from ours. I think Dad can post an article on singing the opposite tune in response to this."
"Interesting topic," Brian said calmly, "I look forward to the day I will read it."
"That may take a long time later," Luna said. "Dad is trying to find the horned snoring beast."
"What is a horned snoring beast?"
"That was a magical creature. Dad said it should be a creature with curved horns and a very docile personality." Luna said in a slight tone.
"That is, it was not found?" Brian said.
"Yes, but we're trying to find it."
"Since you haven't found it, why do you confirm that it must exist?"
Luna looked straight at Brian with silver eyes for a while and said, "They must exist. Dad also found the horns of the horned snoring beast."
"Okay." Brian nodded, and they turned around the corner and saw Nick who was almost headless standing at the door.
The Gryffindor ghost was dressed in a black velvet curtain, and his expression looked infinitely sad.
"Hello, Sir Nicholas. Forgive us for your uninvited party." Brian said elegantly and elegantly.
"Ah, Barrow told me," Nick said, "Welcome, welcome, it's a great honor to have you join." He took off his hat from his head and bowed gracefully.
The two entered the underground classroom, and Brian swore that he had never seen such a strange and bizarre scene.
The underground classroom was filled with hundreds of translucent milky white ghosts, floating around in the dance hall, dancing waltz with the harsh music. All the lights were faint blue, and the air was extremely cold, as if entering a freezer.
"It's so beautiful, brilliant and silent, like the opposite side of the world." Luna sighed in an empty voice.
"Maybe." Brian had reservations about the adjective of beauty, "but it was indeed a scene that would be unforgettable for a lifetime."
They walked to Barrow, the blood man, who was floating with a gloomy face, and his body was covered with blood, making all the ghosts around him involuntarily stay away from him.
After saying hello to Barrow, they separated. A swift ghost passed through Brian's body, making him feel like he fell into a ball of ice water, and shivered fiercely. The ghost turned around and laughed at him.
Brian tightened his robe, unable to stand the harsh music, and he found several familiar ghosts, including the ghosts of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, and they communicated.
Every ghost has a different understanding of the secret of death, or they do not have a deep understanding of it.
The fat monk of Hufflepuff's ghost was happy to discuss death with Brian. His character was lively and pleasant, and very talkative. The ghosts around him also interjected a few words from time to time, and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
They all chose to return rather than move forward after death, so they returned to their original world as ghosts. As for death, some people think it is a darkness that embraces everything, some people think it is another way, and some people think it is a new life, and there are many things.
"But, death is always calling for those who are closer to it." The fat monk said kindly, "It is always full of fear and temptation, like poisonous honey, which makes people want to stay away, but they can't stop."
Brian pondered, and at this time, three little wizards walked in from the classroom gate.
The three little wizards had complicated expressions. They carefully shuttled through the ghost group, fearing that they would pass through the body of a ghost.
"Fry, how could you be here?" Harry looked at Brian in surprise, his eyes full of surprise.
Ron snorted and turned his head aside.
"Oh, Brian?" Hermione blinked.
The three of them walked around carefully, and Hermione said, "Why are you here?"
"Good evening." Brian nodded slightly to them.
A quiet smile appeared on his pale face, which seemed very strange in this environment: "I am looking for the secret of death."
"Death?" Hermione looked at him strangely. She looked around. There was indeed no place closer to death than here.
But doing this kind of thing in this atmosphere always seems a bit weird and terrifying.
"Okay, I won't bother you anymore." She said unnaturally, and Brian saw Harry and Ron pulling the corner of her clothes.
Brian said goodbye to the fat monks and others and found Luna in the dance hall next to the dining table. She was dancing happily with a ghost, and her dance steps seemed exaggerated and casual.
At the end of the song, Luna stopped dancing. Her face was smiling, and her eyes that were always hazy seemed very relaxed. She said lightly: "I don't like dancing much, but I want to be with the ghost. Because I don't have to worry about always stepping on his feet."
Brian smiled slightly, and they looked at the food on the dining table. The beautiful silver plates were filled with rotten meat, baked bread, maggot-covered pie, and moldy cheese. They smelled bad.
Brian handed Luna some bread he brought with him and said, "If you can still eat... I don't think you want to eat here."
Luna thanked her easily, took the bread and ate it without changing her color, without any influence from the food on the table.
Brian looked at her calmly, his face calmly.
"I don't like your current gaze, Brian." Luna said vaguely.
"Oh, sorry." Brian looked away, and he said sincerely, "I think you have a lot of qualities that fascinate me."
"I hope you think I'm an interesting person." Luna looked at him with her eyes wide open.
"I'm working hard...I hope we will be friends, Luna." Brian whispered as he looked at the silver-white ghosts passing by.
"If you want, we'll be there long ago." Luna said seriously.
