Chapter 5 Escape

The gunsmith asked, "Can you still run now? Have you been anesthetized or have a leg injury?"

John stared at the eyes wide and replied hushly: "No...no problem, but I haven't eaten or drunk for nearly two days. I don't think I can run very fast, and I can't run far."

"That's okay, just run away." The gunsmith pointed in a direction: "When I open the cage in a while, you'll go that way."

"Hey man, if you can really get us out of the cage, I suggest you run away in another direction, like there." He pointed to another direction and said, "I've been locked here for two days and have been looking for opportunities to escape. According to my observation, the direction you point to is the most common path these natives usually walk, and the other side I point to is a dead corner. I haven't seen anyone there in two days."

The gunsmith said, "Yes, I know that there are waist-high wolf-tail grass there, and the construction situation also shows that there are almost no one there." He stretched out his hand and grabbed the wooden fence beside him: "So if you don't run far in that direction, you may encounter a deep swamp or a cliff."

John thought for a while and continued, "The path they took most often is usually the direction they wanted to fetch water or hunt, and that must be the way to live!"

The gunsmith said, "That's right."

"What are you doing?" John saw the gunsmith talking, holding the wooden fence with both hands. "You might be trying to break such thick wood with brute force?"

The gunsmith replied, "It's not impossible, but it's very laborious and the noise is too loud. I have a better way." As he spoke, the wooden fence that was in contact with his palm suddenly turned into sand and scattered to the ground.

John said in surprise: "How did you do it? Magic? Magic?"

The gunsmith said: "Explanation with words that you can understand immediately is superpowers."

"There are really superpowers in this world? If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it." John said.

"It's not a great thing. Magic still needs to be learned, but superpowers are born. Of course, the user needs to think hard about both to be used thoroughly." The gunsmith said, and then extended his hand to another wooden fence: "My ability is named 'alchemy' by EAS. Any unconscious object can be converted like this, turning sea water into diamonds."

John felt that this was a bit vague. Not to mention what the EAS was, no one would easily believe that the matter of turning water into a drill: "Man, you are too exaggerating. Turning wood into sand is one thing, but you have to change it..."

Before he finished speaking, the gunsmith had already wiped out the second wooden fence and interrupted directly: "To put it bluntly, it's just carbon... By the way, carbon can still burn fire to keep warm." He was not noble, but had a unique understanding of money.

But John said: "Diamonds control women, women control men, and men control the world."

The gunsmith smiled without comment and turned the topic back to his ability: "The further the material molecular properties and structures of the conversion, the more time and energy I need to double. I once tried to turn a shoe into a watch, which took a full forty minutes. And I also had to know the internal structure of the watch, otherwise it would only turn a toy that looks exactly like a real watch but does not mean at all." He sighed, as if it was very laborious to turn these two pieces of wood into sand: "With that time, I can make four watches by myself, but the raw materials cannot be used with shoes."

The two natives guarding them not far away turned around and glanced into the cage. The gunsmith could use his body to block the two wooden fences that had disappeared in the middle.

The two natives immediately talked for a few words, then walked towards the cage, and it seemed that they had noticed something strange.

The gunsmith tried to lower his voice and said in a gentle tone: "John, can you get out of this width?"

John knew that the situation was on the string at this moment. Although he was weak, he still cheered up and replied, "It's OK at any time."

The gunsmith said, "They are obviously preparing for a bonfire dinner, and their guards are relatively relaxed. I will deal with these two in front of me. You can get out now and run in the direction I point me. I will follow you and be responsible for the breaking of the rear. I am still very physically strong, so don't look back, just run by yourself. Even if you hear the sound of me being shot by a poison dart, don't try to return to save me."

Seeing the two native guards getting closer, John gritted his teeth and replied, "My man, I don't know how to thank you. My life was gone before I met you. If I could still return to the civilized world alive, I must write a book or make a movie for your heroic behavior."

The gunsmith said, "Okay, I'm not dead yet..."

When they were talking, the two natives had already walked to the cage. They had not seen clearly due to angles before, but at this moment, the gap behind them that could pass by could no longer be covered. Their expressions suddenly changed, and they talked to each other in native language, and their voices became louder and louder.

The gunsmith's bone gun slid into his hand instantly, but he did not fire. He took two tooth-shaped sharp bones from the bone gun's gun with one hand and clamped the two bones on both sides of the middle fingers. Before the two natives reacted, the gunsmith had already taken action like lightning.

The two guards fell to the ground, covering their throats in pain. Their throats were already hit by bone teeth. Even though they could still toss on the ground, they could not make any sounds.

John was stunned and forgot to escape. The gunsmith turned around and said, "Hey, don't stand there, you will be discovered soon."

John stopped being stunned, got out of the cage, hugged his waist, and with the cover of several thatched huts, he rushed towards the planned escape direction.

The gunsmith also followed out of the cage. When passing by, he looked down at the two cannibal natives who were not completely extinct on the ground: "Don't look at me with this kind of eyes, you also pierced two darts around my neck, which is fair."

John and the gunsmith had just run a hundred meters away when the abnormality on the cage was discovered, and then their figures fell into the sight of the cannibals.

So, in this tribe where communication is basically based on roaring, the roar sounds sounded, and dozens of adult men picked up spears and blew arrows, quickly assembled, and began to hunt down the escaped supper.

As the saying goes, although John escaped from the village in the direction pointed by the gunsmith, after entering the jungle, he immediately became confused. He saw the forest and turned the slope. In addition, the water and rice in the water had not entered for two days, so he slowed down soon.

The poor explorer was obviously scared by the cannibals. He couldn't run anymore, so he used his hands and feet, rolling and crawling. His fear and survival instinct told him that he could not stop. If he stopped, he would peel off his skin and bones and die without a complete corpse.

The gunsmith is completely different from him. For example, when playing with a certain unparalleled, we often see a general with a popular face who comes out halfway and says, "Let me start teaching you from the foundation of military strategy." If you take five seconds to overturn it, he will immediately say, "Retreat is also a kind of military strategy."

Although it is a bit funny, this dialogue is essentially true. Retreat and retreat are two concepts. The former is to fight and retreat and be orderly, while the latter is to throw away his armor and escape.

The gunsmith knew very well that if he was like John, he would definitely be out of the way to get rid of the pursuit. Although he had a last plan, which was to consider killing all the people he chased, he would take risks. Even if he was prepared this time, there were many people in the cannibals, and only one blower was needed, which would be a situation that would never be restored.

Therefore, the gunsmith was not in a hurry to chase John as he walked. He deliberately slowed down and used the stones and other hard objects he picked up to beat the cannibals who had chased the most forward, thus playing a psychological deterrent role, making the other party afraid and slowing down the pace of the entire group.

In addition, the gunsmith is also responsible for erasing John's footprints and creating some fake traces to make the trackers move in the wrong direction. When the pursuer is blocked by the gunsmith and is gradually pulled apart, the gunsmith begins to do these things. John's footprints are unique and easy to forge. The footprints are heavy and scattered, and there are handprints or traces of elbows supporting the ground mixed in...

About an hour later, it was getting darker and the cannibal tribe was almost lost on its own ground by the gunsmith. At this time, John finally stopped and lay on the ground. He couldn't move at all.

His breathing was intermittent, his face was pale, and his stomach suddenly churned, causing him to vomit all over the floor, but he didn't even have the strength to support his upper body, so he could only let his face press on the mud filled with vomit, but it was just some gastric juice. His belly was already empty and there was no food.

The gunsmith rushed up after only a few minutes, and he walked over and said, "Don't worry, they were thrown away, it's impossible to catch up in a short time. You look terrible, you need to rest for a little longer."

When John heard this, although he was not completely relieved, he at least relaxed a little. After his breathing gradually stabilized, he had the strength to turn over and sit up: "Huh... man... I didn't expect that I could leave that village alive."

The gunsmith took out a homemade ignition device from his pocket and handed it to John: "This one can ignite, you have to get up and take a few more steps. There is a cave over there. Go to the cave to make a fire. I'll get you some food and clean water, otherwise you'll hang up yourself before the cannibals catch up."

"Thank you...Charles, I wouldn't have escaped without you."

"I'm also saving myself. It's a slight effort to bring you with me. You don't have to take it too seriously." The gunsmith didn't take it seriously. He waved his hand and went into the forest alone to find food.
