Chapter 9 Moon Demon
As night falls, the night view on the streets of Paris is magnificent, and the evening breeze on the banks of the Seine seems to be filled with a romantic atmosphere.
But in some dark corners, sin is still shrouded in it.
A young woman was walking on a sparsely populated street. She vaguely felt a figure following her behind her, but she did not look back, but subconsciously accelerated her pace and quickly turned into an alley.
But in the alley, she ran into an alcoholic head-on, and a smell of alcohol and an unpleasant body odor came to her face.
"Hey, girl, where are you in a hurry?" the drunkard smiled, his eyes wandering on the woman. This is undoubtedly a very beautiful woman. Judging from her figure, she might be a model. Even in the dim light, she could tell that she was definitely a beauty from her fair and smooth skin and soft face lines.
She took a few steps back and turned to run, but the figure following her was blocked at the alley; "Do you think you can escape? Little beauty." He approached step by step, the lust in his eyes was obvious, and there was a grim smile on the corner of his mouth.
The drunkard behind him hugged her from behind and laughed wildly, while the man in front of him couldn't wait to pounce on him.
The next second, two screams rang out in the alley.
Then, with two muffled sounds, two corpses fell to the ground in the dark alley, and blood flowed out from their necks like a spring.
The two men died with their eyes closed, with surprise and fear on their faces. They didn't know what scene they saw before their death. A huge, irregular-shaped wound was left on each of the two men's necks, as if they were torn apart by a large carnivore.
The young woman walked out of the shadows, and under the moonlight, her concave figure and beautiful face were particularly charming.
She shook her long brown hair behind her shoulders, tidied up her messed-up clothes, and wiped away the blood from the corner of her mouth charmingly. Then she left the place gracefully and escaped into the night again.
…………
"This is the third time since June. Such a case happens every now and then. Sooner or later, citizens will panic." Police detective George said, standing in the alley with a cigarette in his mouth.
It was the morning of the next day, and the two bodies had been removed, and the investigation and evidence collection work was still in progress. White lines were drawn on the ground, and the dry blood on the beach looked like a red carpet on the ground.
George's partner Dick continued: "From the identity of the deceased, the possibility of resisting organizational or political murder can be basically ruled out... Hey! You! Retreat behind the yellow line, and reporters are not allowed to take photos here!" He said halfway and shouted at a boy holding a camera in the distance.
"But the question is, why is the murderer attacking gangsters and drunkards?" George blew up the ashes.
Dick glanced at him, "The evidence collection has not been completed yet, don't squirt the ashes at the scene."
"Sorry." George walked to the trash can a few meters away and snatched out the cigarette butts.
Dick then said: "If it is a serial murderer who commits a crime, the murderer should follow certain rules when choosing targets. Of course, it is not ruled out that the murderer is just picking people who are easy to attack and kill them randomly. Perhaps he is like the chessboard murderer of that year, only pursuing quantity."
George said: "This murderer is amazing, don't you think? The murderer's footprints were almost covered with blood, but the murderer's bloody footprints could not be found, nor could the weapon be confirmed. The wounds of the deceased looked like they were attacked by animals. These remind people of some supernatural events."
Dick snorted coldly: "Do you think the vampire killed the man and turned into a bat and ran away?"
George replied: "Of course this is impossible, but I think this is a very important clue. As long as the murderer's method of killing people is solved, the case may have a major breakthrough."
Dick added: "I think there is another breakthrough...there are the locations where these murders occurred, which are in areas with poor public security, and almost every one of these dead has a record of violent crimes."
George thought for a while: "Oh... Could it be that the murderer was 'uporing justice' and eliminating violence? Did he think he was a superhero in the comics?"
Dick said: "The heroes in the comics will only throw villains into prison. Even if the other party attempts to destroy all humanity many times, the hero will not kill people unless he has to. But our murderer has never left a living."
George's expression seemed uncommon. He was in his early twenties and obviously had a generation gap with Dick, a senior in his fifties. In George, many young people could see the ideas that only young people had. He replied with a smile: "To be honest, if I were not a policeman, if I could be a hero one day, I would not pity these scumbags. Of course, I am not saying that I can kill them indiscriminately, but I don't think it is necessary to strictly abide by the principle of 'no killing'."
Dick glanced at him and laughed: "So you can't be a hero, a boy. A real hero may not need superpowers. The spirit of a hero is the most important thing. Just shake and compromise, it doesn't take too long. The nature of the heroic deeds may change into the serial murder we see in front of us." He turned around and wanted to walk out of the alley: "Have you had breakfast?"
George replied: "No."
"I know there is a good restaurant nearby." Dick waved his hand to signal his partner to follow: "People long for heroes, but heroes also need us police because we know how to compromise, dirty transactions, cumbersome procedures, and lies to the public are also important parts of maintaining peace in one area. If you work for another ten years, you will understand everything. Justice is not that simple, and the world is not clear in black and white, but gray."
George said: "Then is the result of our discussion acknowledging the murderer's motive?"
"This is just a kind of inference." Dick said: "The criminal investigation work still has to be done step by step. Oh, by the way, after returning to the bureau, the director will definitely shout at us, "Now the governor seems to hold my butt in his hand," and so on. It's annoying to think about it. In fact, the governor doesn't care about the killing civilians. He only cares about the crime rate and his own safety."
…………
At ten o'clock in the morning, George and Dick returned to the police station after breakfast and were called into the office by the director.
"Now the Governor's hand seems to be holding my butt! Bastard! You two are in the mood to have breakfast!" The director roared: "Will you hurry up and investigate the case if you have this free time?!"
"Relax, old man, the waffles and syrup in that store are very good, you should try it too," Dick replied in a relaxed tone.
"Dick! If you still want to retire alive, find that serial murderer for me! Otherwise I will pull out your intestines and strangle you to death!" the director said gritting his teeth.
"Okay, we've got some idea, don't be excited." Dick looked helpless.
It is not the first time George has seen these two old guys of the same period quarrel, so it is no wonder.
Half an hour later, when the two left the office, George lit a cigarette, while Dick complained: "The superiors actually sent someone down. It turns out that they don't believe in our police station's ability to do business."
"Isn't it great that HL can find someone to take over? We just need to 'cooperate' his actions. At that time, the case will not be settled, and someone will take responsibility." George continued.
"Hey... that's why you're inexperienced." Dick sighed, "Like HL sends a special person to the police station to help solve the case. If the people who come really have two tricks, we are lucky to be a pawn and run errands. But many times, the people they send only to be an official accent and have no ability. They just send people to the top to explain. Such people often just fool around for a few weeks to a month, and finally send a report to the top, saying that our police station is incompetent, which is also considered a transfer."
George spitted out a cigarette: "Maybe we'll take the blame...huh..."
Dick said: "Anyway, we will do our job well and sort out the relevant materials and evidence of serial murder cases tomorrow so as not to say that our police station is inaction as soon as we meet."
…………
Meanwhile, Crystal County, Europe HL headquarters.
Luca was about to submit a report, and passed by the corridor, and someone came across from him. When Luca saw it, she greeted him, "Hey, Nais, are you going on a business trip with your luggage?"
Now the paper man, the paper bandage that was flowing like a flame on half of his face had been used to by the people around him. He nodded to Luca and said, "Ah, I went to Paris to investigate a serial murder case. I looked up the information and suspected that the case might involve someone with ability, but it should not be a big deal."
After the incident of the demon city capturing the Blood Owl, the report of Tea Fairy attributed most of the credit to Paper Heroes, which directly received the appointment of Major HL. Paper Heroes himself felt that this appointment was worthy of being accused of, and he did not play any decisive role in the contest with Blood Owl. Tea Fairy's words also stimulated him to a certain extent. After reexamining his behavior, Paper Heroes understood that being blinded by hatred and throwing away principles and justice cannot make him stronger.
Although he still had an objection to joining HL, under the persuasion of the Tea Fairy, he accepted the appointment and came to Europe to serve, and rationally improved his abilities under the guidance of Luca. The paper hero is now one of the well-known masters of HL in Europe, and has had several unpleasant contacts with the Iron and Steel Rules.
"I think that in this period, the top should have other intentions to send an agent of your level to Paris," Luca said.
The two passed by, and the paper hero smiled and said, "I don't think too much, we just need to complete the task with our due diligence."
Luca didn't look back and said, "Then I wish you good luck."
