Chapter 52: Professor Ball's Plan

"Duke, are you sure this is your course plan for this semester?" Professor Boer looked at the Duke's course schedule in hand. The wrinkles on his face seemed to deepen a lot. Eight courses, what a joke, is this Duke shallow or too arrogant? A doctor at MIT usually chooses two courses in a semester. Even if he doesn't have to work for the professor at all, he can ensure his wholehearted dedication. Most of them only choose 3-4 courses. Seeing Duke choose eight courses, Professor Boer, who is messy and silver-haired, does not believe that this genius he is optimistic about will make such a choice without reason. He is waiting for Duke's explanation.

As expected, Duke secretly thanked in his heart that he was ready, otherwise he would have to bear Professor Boer's overwhelming anger.

Duke took out his own course review. Of course, these are the four subjects in this major. Professor Boer was surprised to take Duke's thick stack of printed materials and browsed them quickly. He happened to be the one he taught. Therefore, Professor Boer became more and more surprised and quickly finished reading the summary of this course. Close his eyes and thought for a while. Professor Boer pointed to some topics in the material and asked several questions, and Duke answered very easily.

"You really don't need to learn this course anymore." After listening to Duke's answer, Professor Boer said happily: "Your professional basic knowledge is beyond my expectations. If there are no important questions, I hope you can serve as an assistant to this course." Although this sentence sounds like a negotiation, Duke knew that he would better agree. Although his time is indeed precious, it is impossible not to make some contributions to Professor Boer at all. Duke still has no shortage of emotional intelligence.

"This is my honor, professor." Duke replied happily. "The second major I chose was exactly my undergraduate major. I think I can handle it. After all, most of the basic knowledge has been learned." Duke continued to explain about the second major. As for the courses of this major, he handed over these course review reports, and he just passed Professor Boer's on-site test, proving that these courses are just preparations for soy sauce. As long as you can attend classes on time and submit your homework reports on time, you can handle it.

This is completely in line with the regulations of MIT, and there are very few troubles. If you apply for exemption from the study, it is not impossible for one course to apply for 4 courses. Oh, this is really a bit outrageous. Even if Professor Boer is a well-known professor of MIT, it is impossible to open such a backdoor. Therefore, although Duke's ability is extraordinary, he has no idea of exempting the study.

Since Professor Boer has passed the examination of Duke's basic knowledge and has excellent results such as sala input method in research, the research professor also hopes that Duke can join the team as soon as possible. In the current research on Boer's artificial intelligence, it mainly focuses on knowledge discovery. This is very similar to the backend technology used by Siri. It mainly extracts abstract knowledge from a large amount of data through comprehensive application of statistics, rough sets, fuzzy mathematics, machine learning and expert systems, so as to reveal the internal connections and essential laws of the objective world behind these data, and realize the automatic acquisition of knowledge. Obviously, this is a challenging research topic with broad application prospects.

To mine and discover knowledge from data, we must first solve the problem of the discovered knowledge expression. The best way to express it at present is natural language, because it is the language of human thinking and communication. Therefore, the most fundamental problem of knowledge representation is how to form the concept of expressing it in natural language.

In Duke's sala input method, this knowledge has been used a lot. To achieve high recognition rate of speech recognition, the core part is to abstractly extract various speech features, but this part of the work is done by Kerry. What Duke wants to do now is to copy and transplant Kerry's abilities to the computer on earth.

Although Professor Boer did not have the opportunity to deeply understand the implementation process of the sala input method, relying on the intuition of the world's top experts, Boer was able to judge that relevant technologies should be used in sala. This is the main reason why Professor Boer readily agreed to Dr. Duke's application. His research in this area has been going on for many years, but has not achieved breakthrough development. His research team needs to supplement some fresh blood to make breakthroughs. Of course, it does not mean that there is nothing to gain. At least there is still a lot of progress in terms of siri, but this is far from enough. If you have used siri, you will know that this is at best the intelligence level of infants and young children.

Professor Boer's research is in line with Duke's expectations, because in Duke's next plan, one of the directions of voice recognition applications is to allow machines to understand part of natural language, which is closely related to artificial intelligence. As we all know, the current computer foundation is binary, that is, 0 or 1. To make computers understand human language, the difficulty is really not very high.

Let me put it this way, there are too many puns in human language. Even simple sentences like "Did you eat" have many different connotations in different contexts, which is enough to drive computer logic crazy.

For example, if a Beijinger asks you "Have you eaten?" when you meet, it's just a common greeting. If you foolishly think that the other person is going to treat you, you're 2.

If two people who are familiar with each other call and ask, "Have you eaten?", if the two are close to the meal, it may be an invitation to have a meal together. If the two are far apart, it is just a kind of caring greeting.

Even the tone of speaking is different, and the connotation in the language is also very different.

Such various contexts are very easy for people to think about whether to say hello or greet, but computers cannot do it. They only have the ability to reason logically and in situations like language communication, how many restrictions do you have to give to the computer to understand?

From a thinking perspective, the achievements of artificial intelligence have not had many breakthrough results compared to the human brain. The big reason for its difficulties is also due to the current computer architecture. After all, artificial intelligence applications are ultimately left to computer logic to execute.

In this regard, the bionic biologic computers such as Kerry provided by Leme are completely different. After Duke's use during this period, it was found that Kerry not only has logical reasoning far exceeding the level of contemporary computers, but his thinking ability is very close to the wisdom of humans on Earth. At least in terms of imitation and summary, it is even better than Duke.

In terms of artificial intelligence, there are more things left by Lime to Duke through Kerry, but those things are based on the bionic biologic computer platform. If you want to use them on the current mainstream binary computer, the conversion difficulty is not average, and some things may not be possible at all. However, even if a small part is used, it may be a huge breakthrough for the current progress of artificial intelligence.

Therefore, Duke agreed confidently to Professor Boer's request and entered the project team from tomorrow. He believed that through his joint battle with Kerry, he would definitely find a breakthrough point. He did not need to copy a Kerry, and this was basically impossible. He just needed a breakthrough point, and research could defeat the results of applications such as Siri.

I discussed the course plan and research topic with Professor Boer. Just as Duke was about to leave, a familiar figure came in outside the door.

PS: During the split push period, the two levels are basically maintained. The second update is between 10 and 11 o'clock. Mo You's split push for the script is really hard!
