Chapter 226 Units

In ancient China, we did know about air pressure and water pressure, and we learned about it very early.

In the Western Han Dynasty, there was a book called "Huainan Honglie", which was also called "Huainanzi". The owner of the book compiled was Liu An, the king of Huainan. He died of the failure of Emperor Wu of Han, Liu Che, and he invented tofu.

He had many disciples, and this Taoist book was a summary of his knowledge with his disciples. In addition to tofu, Liu An also conducted an experiment on air pressure - the copper urn thunder.

He sealed the copper jar filled with boiling water and threw it into the well. The boiling water in the jar was cooled. The air pressure and water pressure squeezed the copper jar. The huge sound of the copper jar breaking spread from the well, like thunder.

Another story is recorded in Ban Gu's "Book of Han", about Wang Mang, someone took the feathers of a large bird as its wings, with feathers on its head and body, and flew hundreds of steps.

The explorations that our ancestors tried were all experimental and standardized, but there was no quantitative analysis and research, so experiments could not become theory and could not be developed into practical disciplines.

But now it's OK, especially after Chen Mu ordered Changsheng to summon enough craftsmen, they wanted to do anything, and the craftsmen could make the model exactly in one day.

A wooden barrel with a lid at the middle height, with two openings of the lid one large and one small piled upwards. When water higher than the lid is poured into it, Chen Mu used a square wooden block of the same size as the large opening to fit into one end of the opening, and the water on the other side will naturally overflow. After measuring the weight of the overflowing water, it is almost the same as the weight of the wooden block.

Chen Mu knew that this was not a common sense of science. Now he told others this truth, and in the hands of Zhao Shizhen and Zou Yuanbiao, it became science.

Experiment, measurement, analysis, and summary, they believe that in the sealed state, multiple forces are applied to one end of the water flow, and the other end will be transmitted with the same magnitude of force. If extended, the water pressure in each of the sealed liquid will be the same.

In this experiment, they used the unit of mechanics as ‘Ji’, and the principle summarized was ‘Heng’.

The so-called "heng" comes from the summary of leverage in the "Mo Jing": if the weight is increased by one side, it must be beaten, and the weight is the same. If the weight is balanced, the original is short and the length is long. If the weight is added by the two, the weight must be lowered, and the price will be obtained.

Chen Mu's comment is: save labor and distance.

“We can make a hydraulic press.”

Chen Mu guided Xu Wei to draw a new composition with a white drawing technique using a ruler and other tools to deliver it to the Military Equipment Bureau. Soon the wooden parts were made, including two wooden water tanks, one square and one round, and the square wooden pipe in the middle. All closed positions were reinforced with multiple mortise and tenon structures and wrapped with small iron hoops on the outside.

The square water cylinder is large and is the main force cylinder. After pouring water on it, square iron blocks are pushed up; the round cylinder connected to the square cylinder is a small cylinder that transmits force, and the upper part is a cylinder. The inner piston can only be pushed down by air, but cannot be pushed upward.

The piston only inhales and does not exhale. Finally, it is a relatively long and thick force arm. An eight-two weight is hung at the end of the force arm. The weight is cast to form a very delicate one. The front is engraved with the inscription "Yiji" on the reverse side.

Zhao Shizhen looked at this thing with disgust. What shamed him the most was not this weight with special meaning, but even the inscribed handwriting on it was his, his!

And he swears that he never wrote these four words specifically. When he first saw this kind of half-pound weight, he was extremely angry. He wanted to know where the carving made these weights from his handwriting. After he repeatedly... Well, there was no questioning, the craftsman told him the source generously.

The Dongyang Marshal took the four pieces of paper cut from the letter and asked him to carve it.

Cut it, cut it out and carved it... With this kind of superior, he has been in trouble for eight lifetimes.

The initiator did not have the awareness of establishing happiness on Changji's pain at all. He clapped his hands to praise the exquisite workmanship of the weight, and pulled Zou Yuanbiao to squat in front of a machine that seemed like a big table. Looking at it, he kept talking: "After our calculations, this machine needs to use one ji power every time. After passing through this pound, the force input to the cylinder is ten ji power."

"Tsk tsk, it's five pounds, isn't it interesting?"

Zhao Shizhen stood on the threshold with his arms in anger, and his nose was gushing like a cow, but neither of them paid attention to him and looked at the machine with a gaze.

Zou Yuanbiao continued: "The surface of the small water tank is the eleventh of the large water tank. Isn't it said that this auspicious trough can be pushed up to 50 kilograms of iron squares by ten times? Grandmaster, this is Ichiro, it's amazing!"

"Ji Tuo?" Chen Mu, who was squatting on the ground without any manners, patted his knees and said, "This name is good, and there is also. From now on, these two sides will be called input and output. Hurry up, go to Ji Tuo!"

Zou Yuanbiao lifted up his sleeves and put them up with Xiaojitu, again and again. As the iron block was pushed up little by little, just as the two were about to celebrate, there was a bang and water splashed all over Chen Mu.

The wooden water tank itself was slowly leaking water, and the inside could not withstand huge pressure, causing the wooden pipe to crack, and the direction was just towards Chen Mu, turning the Dongyang Magistrate into a drop of soup.

Zhao Shizhen smiled and Zou Yuanbiao followed him with joy.

Chen Mu pursed his lips, raised his hand to wipe the water from the surface, and chuckled himself.

Their theory is correct, and there is no big problem with the structure. As long as the wooden cylinder is replaced with an iron cylinder, the object can continue to be made. If it is large enough, it may be able to produce a hydraulic press that emits a single force.

However, the biggest problem with his design is that it is to push upwards. If you want to press things, you must have a solid enough upper metal platform. It looks a bit stupid. He hasn't figured out how to properly put pressure downwards.

Even if the force is slightly smaller, it can be used to press oil or other similar items. If you can really make a pond of hydraulic press, it would be possible to use it to forge and press.

But every step ahead is expected to be very difficult. Chen Mu had just been splashed with water. The broken wood standard-characterized on his robe was irrelevant. He had to change it to iron. This time he would open his intestines and break his stomach.

"Let the craftsman make a smaller one and iron one out. There are still many things to try later, but at least it is very useful now. If it is iron, it will be more powerful and can be used for pickled oil."

As soon as Chen Mu spoke, Zhao Shizhen stopped laughing and took two steps to ask someone to prepare for Chen Mu to change clothes. However, Zou Yuanbiao was still laughing until Chen Mu turned his head and looked at him with a gloomy gaze: "What are you laughing at? Changji, do you think the weight of Baliang is a bit big? Let's add another unit, what's the good name?"

"Does the coach still have to think about it?"
