Chapter 15 Chen Lai

Chen Mu planned to transport the unbreakable bow elephant back to Nanyang, which was a good trophy.

In fact, his trophy was much richer than he thought.

The archipelago is spread from Taiwan to Luzon. Now this sea area and waterway are named Chenlaixia due to the naval battle here and its significance to Chen Mu. Between the islands of Chenlaixia, the largest island is called Chenlai Island, which is only 200 miles away from the northernmost end of Luzon. It sets off in the evening and can land in Luzon the next morning.

Therefore, the Southern Expedition Fleet decided to take a break here to repair the damaged warships in the naval battle, and the Flag Army and Lin Feng's subordinates took a fleet to continue southward, landed in northern Luzon, and found a suitable landing place to establish frontier outposts and explore the surrounding situation.

Chen Lin sent three fleets to sail northward. Most of the grain and blessing ships returned to five or six islands between Taiwan and Chenlai Island after unloading their supplies. The purpose was to open the garrison troops to sail, and the second was to return to Nanyang Port and start transporting the second batch of supplies.

The remaining grain ships will set off north after arriving at Daimao Port or Manila, which will reduce the delivery of baggage to once every half a month or even shorter.

Of course, this must be under the situation where the Ming army controlled Chen Laixia.

Controlling Chen Laixia means that no one can pass through here north of Luzon Island, and passive trade in Kyushu, Japan this year should be greatly affected.

The Chenlai Archipelago is composed of various volcanic islands. The largest volcanic island has been called Chenlai since then. The huge volcano allows them to see it in the vast sea. There is almost nothing on the island except volcanoes, forests and beaches. Of course, there are also the people living here.

Hundreds of people scattered on the beach at the foot of the volcano on the north side of the island, all of which were descendants of mixed-race local residents and Chinese people. Some of their ancestors were merchants who traded in Luzon during the Song and Yuan dynasties, while others were unwilling to mention the identity of their ancestors to the Ming army.

The Ming people coming from the north is not new to the residents of the island. Since Emperor Longqing opened the sea, dozens of merchant ships from Yuegang to Luzon have increased every year, and there were hundreds of them before the sea opened.

A huge amount of cargo arrived here from the Ming Dynasty and then from here to Luzon. Sometimes merchant ships would dock on the shore, asking residents for help and buying and selling some goods. Most of the time merchant ships did not dock on Chenlai Island. After all, merchant ships were not like Chen Yetou Tie. They came over with a good wind, and they could drive directly from here to Daimao Port or even Manila for one day and night.

There is no need to stop here.

But the Ming army landed on the island, and thousands of Ming army said that large ships landed on the island, which made the local people full of panic.

Men from several neighboring villages took their families and took their lords and took their arches and spears to retreat to the mountain. After seeing that they were from the Ming Dynasty, they picked out a few brave young men who had half their feet to find out what they were going to do.

The military advisor is too arrogant and the soldiers are too fierce to kill. The person responsible for receiving local elders is Zhao Shizhen, a famous calligrapher who clicked a crooked skill tree to mislead the pirate ship in Shanghai. This problem arises.

The old man Chen Laidao was from the Min Dynasty in the Song Dynasty. He spoke Min language that was different from the current Fujian people. However, Zhao Shizhen, a Wenzhou person, could listen almost the same; but he could not understand whether he spoke Zhejiang or Beijing Mandarin.

Later, Long Junxiong, a Fujianese, was sent over, and the two sides could barely have normal communication.

Although it is located in a remote place, its living customs are almost the same as those of Fujian, and it is only slightly behind. This is due to the fact that when Zheng He went to the West more than a hundred years ago, he appointed Xu Chailao, a native of Jinjiang, Fujian, as the governor of the Luzon State, and took charge of the politics, economy, military and culture of the Luzon State for 20 years. He was loyal to the court and responded to the people, and brought Fujian's agriculture, fishery, industry and commerce to Luzon.

"Ming Gong, they said that the war in the south has not stopped in recent years. The king purchased warship weapons through Fujian merchants, which was to rely on these to fight against the Western Barbarians through the joint prosperity of the Ming Gong. However, they retreated step by step under the large ships and artillery of the Western Barbarians. This year, someone in Manila betrayed the king and opened the city gate to welcome the Western Barbarians into the city. The king is now fighting with the Western Barbarians in the northern part of Luzon Island."

Zhao Shizhen said this and sighed, "The King of Luzon summoned all the young and strong people on the island who could hold spears and bows to the north of Luzon Island to resist the Western Barbarians. There were not many people along the coast who could use weapons. Even women had to wear small knives on their waists, fearing that the Western Barbarians would come to plunder on their boats."

The king... has all started to fight guerrillas?

"They said that Cebu Island, south of Luzon, was a camp of Western Yi. The leaders on Cebu Island formed an alliance with the Western Yi to attack north. There were Japanese and Malay accomplices. The Ming maritime merchants sold silk and utensils for them. The King of Luzon relied on sea merchants to sell warships, swords and grain. At the same time, there were pirates fighting south under the King of Luzon, but they still could not stop the collapse."

Chen Mu sat upright on the Chihai, watching the soldiers on the shore not far away being unloaded, and rubbed his face.

To be honest, he didn't know that Hexingsheng was so promising. Not only did he sell silk and utensils with the Spanish, but he also went to Luzon to sell ships and knives, and worked as an arms dealer, and even pirates fought under the command of the Luzon King.

"Sell it, now the silk raw silk is back in our hands."

As for those who sell boats and knives, Chen Mu did not intend to stop them. Before leaving, the merchants in Hexingsheng had already received news that there was a war in Luzon that they could not do business. Not to mention that Chen Mu's words had a certain influence on them, now in the southern expedition of the Ming Dynasty, these maritime merchants who were good at engaging in the camp can better recognize the benefits of the southern expedition than the court officials, and they are fighting for the opportunity to make an appointment to attract business after winning.

With the east wind, Chen Mu's words were better than the imperial edict for them.

But it was right for them to continue selling the lucky ship, the sword bow, and the sect leader should now stand with the tribute state, although the tribute of the Luzon to the Ming Dynasty was cut off for a while.

But isn’t Mr. Chen coming because of this?

At least in the face of the court officials, the purpose of Nanyang Minister Chen Mu led his army to patrol overseas was to reorganize the tribute country and re-establish the emperor's authority abroad. Those who have left the tribute country should be regained, and those who have already destroyed the country should be restored.

"Be prepared. When the advance fleet finds out the news, our ship should have been repaired. For this battle, we will have military expenses for the next few years!"

Chen Mu's words are not a joke. The route from Manila to Mexico is only one trip a year in Spain, and one trip will load all the Ming Dynasty specialties purchased this year and gold and silver purchased from Japan to ship. These East Asian goods can be sold at a good price in the Americas, which is what the prisoners on the ship said.

Chen Mu came southeast of Nanyang and captured more than ten large Clark ships. The things in ordinary merchant ships were not too precious, mostly raw silk and other objects, and the ship was not fully loaded. However, the fleet of the Saint-Bablo was different. He captured all four large ships, and the Babulo alone counted more than 5,000 stone cargo.

This is the reason why the Babulo gunship is dissatisfied, and they are all used to carry goods.

The total amount of seizures is being counted, with no less than 150,000 kilograms of raw silk, nearly 100,000 pieces of various silks and satins, and nearly 10,000 pieces of cotton cloth; 190 boxes of porcelain were counted, and pearls and gems were weighed by a thousand kilograms.

Unfortunately, this is not a silver ship coming from America, otherwise the harvest will be greater.

Chen Mu grinded his chin and leaned against the side of the boat and thought greedily.
