Chapter 24 Are You Ready?

When Qingtao went downstairs, she saw Ah Hu following a guard into the courtyard and going upstairs. She didn't say anything, and let her pass by Ah Hu on the side, she glanced at Ah Hu.

Seeing Qingtao's eyes flushed, Ah Hu showed some surprise. Just as he was about to speak, Qingtao shook his head calmly. Ah Hu closed his mouth knowingly and followed the guards.

Qingtao went downstairs and went straight back. When she walked into the courtyard, she had recovered her calmness.

The lights were on in the study, and Cao Miao was studying at his desk. Qingtao walked in and knelt quietly aside. Cao Miao glanced at her, then withdrew his gaze, and landed on the book again.

"Have you eaten?"

"The king asked, I just came back."

"Go to have a meal first." Cao Miao said lightly: "There are only two major things that people live: eating, sleeping, and the rest are trivial things."

Qingtao responded, turned around and went back to her room. Hongxing had finished eating and was sitting aside practicing Nu Hong. Seeing Qingtao come in, she put down Nu Hong, greeted her, and asked with a smile: "Sister, have you made a contribution?"

Qingtao was puzzled. Hongxing opened the food box on the table, revealing the dinner that had not moved, and laughed out loud.

"Look, there is meat."

Qingtao was also a little surprised, and the dinner was so rich that it exceeded her imagination. Life in the Yongqiu Palace has always been difficult, and even the Yongqiu Palace himself rarely eats meat. The only one who can guarantee the food in the mansion is Cao Miao, and there is only a bowl of meat every five days. She and Hongxing usually only have meat to eat during the holidays, and it is just a few thin slices.

Today’s dinner not only has meat, but also has two types of meat: one is meat soup and the other is roasted meat, with a lot of portions.

“Who sent it?”

"The wife arranged for someone to send it. She also said that our monthly money will increase to 100 in the future." Hongxing's eyes were full of excitement. "One hundred, I don't know how to spend it if I can buy a lot of things."

Qingtao couldn't help laughing out loud. She asked Hongxing to sit down and eat. Hongxing was already hungry, but she didn't want to eat it alone. She kept waiting for Qingtao. When she heard about eating, she immediately closed her mouth and looked at the meat in the bowl.

Qingtao took the wooden bowl and first scooped a bowl of soup for the red apricot. He watched the red apricot drink in small sips before scooping a bowl for himself. The soup tasted very delicious, and it should be fresh meat, not aged and air-dried meat. Such treatment is rare, and it should be divided from the meat that entertained the prefect Chenliu and his party, or it was leftover at all.

From the prefect Chenliu's thought of Gao Xun, and then the half of Gao Xun's finger bitten by Cao Miao, the green peach was a little disgusting, and the delicious meat soup was gone. She put down the bowl, looked at the study opposite from the corner of her eyes, and looked at Cao Miao who was sitting in front of the desk and reading.

After dinner, he ordered Hongxing to wash dishes and go to bed early. Qingtao returned to the study.

Cao Miao was still studying, and Qingtao told him about the incident when Cao Zhi summoned him.

Cao Miao listened quietly. Cao Zhi sent someone to call Qingtao and Ahu went over, and it was nothing more than these things. He also wanted to take the opportunity to see how Qingtao would deal with it. It is true that these two people are around him, but they are far from being intimate. There are many things that they don’t know, and Cao Zhi can’t ask anything.

The only thing that might be wrong is the Jade Owl Seal, but he has no other choice.

"If you reply like this, the king will doubt your loyalty." After Qingtao finished speaking, Cao Miao put down the book in his hand and looked at Qingtao. "If there is anything in the future, the king will not tell you, nor will he avenge you."

Qingtao lowered her head. "My maid knows." She paused and said, "If the prince chooses different from the king, should the maid choose one of the two, or the prince has more chances to succeed."

"Then you can only follow me, and the road is dark. Are you ready?"

"My maid has made up her mind and is willing to die for the prince."

Cao Miao picked the corner of her mouth slightly. "How does the meat soup taste at night?"

Qingtao was in a complicated mood when she remembered that she had only eaten half a bowl of meat soup. "I'm very good, thank the prince for giving it to her."

"Dispose this." Cao Miao took a small blood-stained paper bag from the underside of the desk and pushed it to Qingtao. Qingtao looked at it and knew it was Gao Xun's half-cut finger. The chest suddenly turned and smelled like a sour smell rushed straight into her throat. She quickly covered her mouth with her hands, and didn't care about salute, turned around and rushed out of the study room, squatting down to the edge of the ditch in the porch, and vomited a lot.

Cao Miao glanced at the paper bag on the desk and couldn't help but grin, feeling very uncomfortable.

When Qingtao was almost vomiting, Cao Miao picked up the paper bag, opened the window, called "Qingtao", and threw it over. Qingtao subconsciously took it, and when she held it in her hand, she realized it and squatted in the ditch and vomited again, her face pale, tears flowing, and she was in a mess.

Ahu walked in quickly and saw Qingtao squatting on the edge of the ditch and retching. He was a little confused. He leaned closer to look at Qingtao and whispered, "Are you happy?"

Qingtao glared at him fiercely, picked up the paper bag at his feet and stuffed it into Ahu's hand. Ahu took it, opened it and took it, wrapped it again as if nothing had happened, and asked persistently: "When did it happen? Have you ever asked a Wenpo to see it?"

Qingtao was both ashamed and annoyed and shouted: "Get out!"

Ah Hu muttered a few words, quickly walked into the hall, walked into the study, and said happily: "Congratulations to the prince, congratulations to the prince."

Cao Miao was puzzled. "Why are you happy?"

"Qingtao is happy, and the prince will soon have children."

Cao Miao looked at Ah Hu in surprise, not knowing what to say for a moment. Is this kid smart or stupid? Seeing vomiting means pregnancy. Don’t you know what the thing in your hand is?

"Well, please throw that thing away." Cao Miao pointed at the paper bag in Ah Hu's hand.

"What a pity to throw it away. I'll give it to Lao Song later, let him marinate it with lime, and find an opportunity to return it to the Gao surnamed. Prince, you don't know how happy Lao Song and the others are when they see that Gao surnamed rolling on the ground today."

"What's so happy about this?"

"Hehe, Prince, this man surnamed Gao has bullied the royal family for no time. Since Emperor Wen ascended the throne, scholars have become more powerful, especially those children of aristocratic families. After reading books for a few days, they know a few sentences of poetry, and they feel that they are superior. If you want to study, can the books they read be compared with the king? It's not that they rely on their prominent family background and do not take others seriously. I heard that this man surnamed Gao criticized the royal family behind his back, saying that Qiao Pei was only a famous scholar, Xiahou Taichu, and nothing else is worth mentioning."

"Wait." Cao Miao interrupted Ah Hu. "Who did you hear? When did you hear it? Tell me carefully."

Ah Hu thought about it. "Forgot."

Cao Miao jumped up, kicked Ah Hu down, and scolded: "You should remember what you deserve, you can't remember what you deserve. You should remember what you shouldn't remember. You should remember clearly."
