Chapter 11 Undercurrent (4)

In a luxuriously decorated club in Moscow.

The marble that can be seen is covered with purely handmade carpets from Iran. It is soft and elastic when stepped on. The walls are full of exquisite reliefs and precious oil paintings. The fire is burning in the closet, and a faint rosin is filled with air. The flames reflect the silver objects everywhere in the room, which is like a palace in the fairy tale world... Don't ask about the price of wine here. Just look at this decoration, you should touch your pocket first. If you don't have a considerable deposit in the Swiss bank, it is recommended that you don't spend in such a place, otherwise, you will likely become a poor person in less than half an hour. The boss behind a club is a Citiian. Only then did he know what the guy thought. He actually opened this club that sold money like money to the Soviet Union, which always emphasized savings. It was similar to running to the Arctic Circle to sell refrigerators to Eski motorbikes! Needless to say, the business of this club was very bleak. Except for the occasional salon held by NATO diplomats in the Soviet Union, the waiters were idle to kill mosquitoes during the rest of the time. It was precisely because of its desertedness that Soviet spies did not keep an eye on it. Unlike foreign embassies, from the Pale dancers who accompanied diplomats to the old ladies who delivered newspapers, they were all Soviet spies!

Yeltsin walked into the club carefully and handed him a fake business card given to him by the diplomat of Citi. The club's service staff lit up his eyes and took him to a private room with excellent sound insulation. The club manager came here in person to serve him. The cautious spirit was like serving a tyrant who was unhappy and would call his head to the ground. This modest attitude made Yeltsin, who was very angry at the end of the military, feel very comfortable. He thought that he should be like this. Being a hooligan who walked sideways everywhere was much better than being a president who was angry everywhere! He opened a bottle of wine that was said to be worth thousands of dollars, poured half a cup for himself, took a sip, and immediately let out a pleasant sigh. Everything here is free to him, and it is useless to drink it.

His secretary looked around and seemed a little uncomfortable. Well, this secretary took office two months ago and had never seen many big scenes. He was forgiven for his poor performance. Yeltsin was about to joke with the young secretary, but the door was knocked, and it was the secret code that the ambassador of Citigroup told him. Yeltsin said to the secretary: "Go and open the door quickly."

The secretary hurried over and opened the door. A white man in his sixties and dressed in a well-dressed face appeared at the door with a smile. He took off his hat with a gentleman and said with a smile: "Wenger, the former head of the Citigroup Think Tank, took the liberty to imitate. I wonder if the gentleman would like to welcome him?"

Wenger, head of the think tank?

Yeltsin frowned. The head of the national think tank is of course an important role. He is in charge of a large number of political elites, provides advice for the head of state, and has a strong influence on national politics. However, this kind of role is generally in hand

There is no power, they can only be responsible for researching and making suggestions. To put it bluntly, this guy is not qualified to talk to him! He thought that the minimum amount of risking to go to Moscow to meet him in secret should be President Reagan's special assistant. Unexpectedly, he came with such a high-ranking and light-hearted role. The title of head of the national think tank is still the same! He reluctantly said: "Mr. Wenger, please come in."

Wenger walked in lightly, and the secretary cleverly closed the door and left the space for these two big men. Wenger sat down opposite Yeltsin, poured a glass of grapes for himself, and took a sip, smiling with a smile: "I have traveled around the world since I stepped down and did nothing. I am so honored to meet with Mr. President."

Yeltsin said: "Mr. Wenger, don't say polite words. I just want to ask you, what is the purpose of leaving me with your ambassador?"

Wenger smiled and said, "Mr. President played an important role in the Soviet Union and was an extraordinary figure. I naturally want to get to know each other, otherwise my life would be wasted."

Still polite words. Yeltsin frowned impatiently. He took the time out of his busy schedule and came here at great risk, not to listen to these beautiful words without nutrition.

It seemed that the big man was unhappy, Wenger took another sip of wine and gently shook the wine glass. The bright red wine rippled gently in the crystal cup, and the bubbles rose like blood. In fact, in the eyes of Christians, wine is the holy blood of Jesus, which is very sacred.

"What do you think of the current situation in Eastern European countries?" When Yeltsin was impatiently trying to stand up and leave, Wenger suddenly said this, and in one sentence, he pressed Yeltsin back on the sofa.

"Eastern Europe?" Yeltsin's expression became a little complicated. Eastern Europe has always been the traditional sphere of influence of the Soviet Union, but now it is in extreme chaos, especially Romania. Even the president was secretly executed. Seeing Eastern Europe becoming like this, it would be impossible to say that it was not touched at all. He sneered: "Eastern Europe is now as chaotic as an ant that has been stabbed into a broken nest. The state machine is paralyzed, and it is even on the verge of civil war. I think there are a lot of contributions to NATO here, right?"

Wenger put down his wine glass and admitted generously: "In fact, all of this was planned and promoted by us."

Yeltsin was surprised when the other party admitted so simply: "What!?"

Wenger said: "Long before the Soviet army withdrew from Eastern Europe, we made a lot of preparations for this: let the agents spread confusing remarks on various occasions, create some rumors appropriately, hire some well-known figures to criticize the various shortcomings of the communist regime, and promote the beauty of democracy and freedom... A lot of preparations were made. After the Soviet army withdrew, the media, politicians, and writers who received our funding immediately accumulated.

Take action and encourage the people to stand up bravely and regain their own right to vote, personal freedom, and self-speaking from the Communist regime... You also know how cruel the Soviet Union oppressed those countries. After enduring decades of hard work, the patience of hundreds of millions of civilians has reached its limit, and just a little Mars can ignite them. We are very pleased to see that after experiencing decades of destruction of communist autocracy, the people there still have not surrendered and are full of desire for democracy and freedom. Perhaps, this desire has penetrated into the bones of everyone and has become a human instinct."

Yeltsin shouted: "It turns out that it's really your fault! You have disrupted all those countries and even pushed Romania into the vortex of civil war!"

Wenger said tepidly: "That's only temporary. It won't take long to go, the communist regime will be overthrown by the free people, and the flower of democracy blooms in Eastern Europe. All this is just the pain of the Eastern European people's towards democracy and will soon end. What awaits them will be a bright and smooth future."

Yeltsin hummed heavily: "It sounds better than singing!"

Wenger's smile was still the same, but there was a sense of arrogance in his tepid spirit: "Mr. President, do you think we can't do it? No, you underestimate the power of NATO too much. East Germany and West Germany will be reunited. After receiving full support from the extremely developed West Germany, the people of East Germany will get rid of poverty and strive for a well-off society overnight. Romania, the Czech Republic and other countries will be absorbed into the NATO family. NATO will use tens of billions of dollars to help them develop their economy. With our full blood transfusion, how far are these countries from prosperity and strength?"

Yeltsin's eyelids twitched wildly, and his heart also thumped. He took out tens of billions of dollars of funds to help those poor people develop their economy. NATO made a big deal! It would be great if the money was given to Russia. With this aid, why would Russia be so embarrassed? He wanted to refute, but couldn't speak, because he knew that Wenger was not talking big, NATO really had the financial and material resources! For a moment, he actually envied those countries that were still in chaos.

Wenger saw the change of the expression on the President's face. He sneered slightly in his heart, picked up the wine glass and said, "For decades, communism has been clamoring to liberate the whole world, but it is just a clamor. They can't do anything. These fanatical Puritans can't do anything except destroy the country's economy and take the legitimate wealth of merchants for themselves under various excuses! Didn't the Soviet Union keep calling for revolution? Well, now we have to let it see what a real revolution is! The difference is that your revolution comes at the cost of destroying a country's economy, and we..."

Yeltsin said in a deep voice: "Sir, your remarks are very dangerous. If the KGB hears them, I dare not guarantee whether you will spend the night in prison tonight!"

"KGB?" Wenger didn't

A smile without mocking, "Mr. President, do you think the KGB is still the spy organization that was once so daunting to the world? No, no, it has changed, everything has changed. As far as I know, the KGB seems to be more interested in using its own connections to smuggling some goods that are priceless in the Soviet Union, and more and more KGBs are more willing to serve us. How many KGBs are their own people can't even say it, so don't worry, these words will not reach the ears of the KGB. Even if they hear it, they will first forget it."

Yeltsin's lips moved.

"Don't be surprised, the president is advanced." Wenger smiled even more happily. "It's not just the KGB, but even the army you rely on is proud of has changed. Iraqi arms dealers can get two or three hundred original T-72 tanks from the Ukrainian military region for a few small money. The Iranians are even more ruthless. They buy heavy artillery shells at a ton of meter, two thousand dollars per ton. I think the President knows the cost of those heavy artillery shells? The cost of a heavy artillery shell is worth a month's salary of a colonel!"

Yeltsin's face turned pale, and he didn't know whether he was angry or embarrassed. He knew some of these situations, but the military had been denying them all, and he couldn't control them. Thinking that the wealth of the Soviet people was sold at a low price by those resident insects and finally entered the pockets of those guys, he was very angry. These scandals actually made the Soviet enemy know, and he felt even more embarrassed, and he couldn't refute them even though he was full of words!

Wenger changed his tone and said word by word: "These signs indicate that the foundation of the Soviet building has begun to loosen...Communism is an exciting utopian experiment of this century, and the whole world has been involved. Your ideals are great, but lack the necessary material foundation. This experiment is doomed to fail. The Chinese on the other side of the Amur River have realized this and reformed with extraordinary courage and wisdom. Now they have succeeded, and you are still continuing this experiment! I am curious, what makes you so stubborn? Do you have to be left far behind by the whole world so that the Soviets can wake up? The success of the reform of China originates from Deng's wisdom. Where is Deng Xiaoping of the Soviet Union?" His eyes fell on Yeltsin, "or, where is Deng Xiaoping of Russia?"
