Chapter 5 First Impressions of Ice Peak Fortress

The hairless griffin struggled in the distance, trying to extinguish the alchemy flames that were still burning on the flesh. The sharp stones on the ground added more flesh-dripping wounds, and made its wailing waves one after another. But for Fitch, the most dangerous moment seemed to have passed, at least he would not be caught by this flying beast into the sky.
Get up from the ground and pull Eddie up. Feich looked at the constantly flapping griffin from afar. It can be said that this time, the explosion of alchemy potion played the most important role, especially the green flame that can be firmly stuck to the flesh. Feich tried hard to recall, but neither the past memories nor the records in the alchemy formula notebook, this kind of alchemy flame had been mentioned.
"How can I know the recipe?" Feiqi thought.
Eddie covered his nostrils with a handkerchief and finally stopped the bleeding from his nose. He recovered from his horror and immediately realized that it was Feige who saved him. If he hadn't been pulled off the horse with force before, he might have become a skewers that the griffin claws passed through and died with the pack horse.
"Young Master, thank you for saving my life."
"No need to thank you." Feiqi smiled at him, then pointed to the Bingfeng Fortress and said, "Look, the city gate is open and someone is coming."
A man came on a horse, and behind him was a slow flat carriage driven by two teenagers. The knight was wearing light leather armor, and his body was undulating with the horse's movement posture, rushing down from the steep hillside, and was obviously an excellent rider. If his head was not bare, it affected his overall image, and this riding alone could trigger screams from the noble ladies.
The horse stopped beside the master and servant, and the dust that stirred up along the way was blown by the wind, but no trace of it was stained on Feiqi. The rider jumped down, and his light golden pupils looked at the two of them, and there was no emotional fluctuation on his serious face.
"Businessman?" he asked, "or a traveler?"
"None of them, I'm going to go to the Ice Peak Fortress and get a new identity there."
"Criminal?" He looked at Fitch from head to toe, then looked at Eddie again: "Sin guilty, but still with a maid, it seems you are a nobleman."
"I'm a man!" Eddie screamed like a cat trampled on his tail.
The Knight still had no expression, and a finger pointed to him and said his name: "Gilles."
"Oh, I'm Feige Hall, from... Why do you leave when you raise your feet? Don't listen to me? What are you going to do?"
Giles passed between Feige and Eddie and pulled out the long sword at his waist. "Griffin, not dead yet."
The griffin was still struggling on the ground, which was actually the most dangerous at this time. When it saw the reflection of the metal on the long sword, it suddenly turned over and faced Giles. Its wingspan was nearly ten meters, its sharp bird's beak was nearly one meter long, and its four strong legs with short sword-like claws, all of which were fatal weapons.
Fortunately it couldn't fly.
Giles bent down slightly, staring at the griffin with his eyes, carefully controlling the distance with it. Taking advantage of this time, Feiqi and Eddie hurriedly retreated a little. Since they couldn't help, at least don't cause trouble, right? When they arrived at a safe position (thinking that they were), Feiqi immediately began to pay attention to the observation: how the soldiers of the Ice Peak Fortress fought, and why did he carry two crossbows?
The griffin kept making warning calls, and its claws grabbed the ground and sparked sparks on the stones. Giles calmed down and maintained a steady rhythm. He turned his sword, and his sharp blade and amazingly long hilt were circled in the air. The griffin's attention was attracted by the shining reflection of the sword, so he did not notice that Giles had taken off the heavy crossbow hanging on his back.
The crossbow arrow was installed in advance and fired with the action of raising his hand. The griffin did not expect this situation at all and could not react at all. Almost a palm-long crossbow arrow penetrated its eyes accurately. After the eyeball burst, it spewed out a shiny splash of water, and then a mixed blood liquid flowed down.
The griffin was crazy, and he thrust his four claws and even his wings climbed on the ground. In order to pounce on it as fast as possible, he bit the hunter in front of him to death. Giles took two steps back, threw away the heavy crossbow, and then held the long sword in both hands. He pulled the hilt with both arms and actually turned it longer!
The long hilt of the sword turned out to have a mechanism that could stretch and retract, and it could be more than a spear after being lengthened. Giles suddenly rushed forward and handed out nearly three meters of weapon. I don't know if this should be a spear or a long sword, but Feiqi only knew that the sharp sword tip was spiraling forward in the air and then accurately pierced into the griffin's throat.
The charger's griffin could not stop itself, and his neck was directly stabbed. Its head was raised high, trying to straighten its front paws to make the final revenge. However, with the advantage of the length of the weapon, Giles safely hid outside the attack range of the griffin, and could also control the monster's movements through the weapon.
The griffin grabbed the air a few times, then fell to the ground and died.
Giles waited for a while before slowly pulling out his weapon. Just as Feige was about to come forward to congratulate him - by the way, he saw Giles holding a spear (spoke naming randomly) and stabbing the griffin a few more times.
The body shook and it would not be killed again.
"Your martial arts are great!" Feiqi praised repeatedly: "You are so accurate in shooting archery. You were the one who used to operate crossbow machines from the city wall before?"
Giles nodded, without any smug expression. He silently closed the hilt of the sword, then took out a cloth to wipe the blood on the blade. He maintained his weapon very carefully, and there was a rare gentleness in his eyes.
This is a powerful but a little weird guy. Feiqi picked up a heavy crossbow from the ground and handed it to him. He just nodded and didn't say thank you. "The griffin won't live again, right? Can I go and see it?"
"No. It's my trophy."
"Your trophy?" Feiqi blinked, wanting to try what kind of personality this person has and can get along with him in the future, so he said, "It was my alchemy potion that burned all its feathers. If it had any hair, it would have flew away long ago."
"I can shoot it down."
"You've hit it wrong."
"Green fire is caused by crossbow."
"You mean, did you know in advance that the city wall crossbow will trigger my alchemy fire, so that's why it fired?"
Giles frowned and said slowly, "I killed the griffin."
"I don't deny this." Feiqi waved his hand and said, "But the alchemy potion is mine, and without this there is no fire. If you think this spoil is not my share, then you should pay for the loss of the alchemy potion. Oh yes, that horse is mine. It was still alive when it was caught in the air. It was the city crossbow that shot through the neck and killed it, so you have to pay for it."
Giles suddenly turned the sword and then inserted it accurately back into the scabbard: "Okay, you can go and see."
Fitch was startled by the blade, and sweat emerged from his forehead. He glanced at Giles, tilted the corner of his mouth, and then walked towards the griffin corpse. He blocked others' vision with his body, and then summoned the soul dagger, which was less than three minutes before the griffin died.
The soul dagger is made of sharp corners on the top of the Demon's head, dark red, with crystal-like profiles on the surface. The edges of these profiles are as sharp as blades, but they will not hurt Fitch. This reminds him of the Crystal Throne in Hell, which also has a similar sharp profile, which will not hurt him either. Perhaps there is any connection between the two.
The dagger was very sharp and easily pierced the griffin's skin. A warm feeling was transmitted to the palm of the dagger through the dagger, and Feiqi immediately realized that the soul was collected, and the amount was small, but it was better than nothing.
Only the soul of truly intelligent life has great value, and among them, the devil fallen one is the most valuable. Although the griffin has some intelligence, it is still a long way from the generation of wisdom. Its "soul" is actually closer to "spirit", it is just a small amount of money.
Small money is also money, money is life, life is time, time is hope. Although Feiqi doesn't want to pin his hopes on collecting souls, reality is so cruel - who told him to be trapped in hell? After collecting a little money, he hid the dagger again without hesitation. Feiqi turned around and looked at Giles: "How much is this spoil worth?"
Giles shook his head and said nothing. At this time, the carriage from Bingfeng Fortress arrived and two teenagers jumped out of the car. The older ones carried several bundles of ropes, and their black hair tied a short ponytail behind their heads. The younger ones were round faces, smiling, and their slightly fat body sat steadily on the board, controlling the reins with one hand and stroking the horse's butt with the other to avoid the smell of blood irritating these animals.
"You are so lucky that Giles happened to be walking on the wall and saw you being attacked. The beast is very greedy. It will first throw its main prey to death in the valley, then turn its head to catch you, so that there will be several meals of food." The older one took a bundle of ropes off his shoulders and threw them around the griffin corpse for half a circle. "My name is Tron, and the fat guy is Ramsden. Who are you, why are you going to such a remote place?"
"Feige Hall," Fei introduced himself: "I'm in trouble and want to join the Ice Peak Fortress."
Tron's movement suddenly stopped. "Really? You or the two of you?"
"I'm the only one. Eddie will be home in a while."
"That's fine, one less is counted as one." Tronwai said: "It's not rare to come to the castle for indulgences. But the people who asked you to come to the Ice Peak Fortress must hate you."
"Why do you say that?"
"Of course it's because this is not a good place!" Tron did it himself, skillfully tied up the griffin corpse with a rope to facilitate transporting it onto the car. Giles watched the whole time, but only stretched his feet, as if pointing out a mistake in the tie. Tron immediately made adjustments.
"What are you doing when you transport the griffin back?" Feiqi asked.
"Of course it's to eat!" Tron said with a smile: "This time I'm lucky, and a fire saves the trouble of plucking hair."
The slightly fat Ramsden fixed the carriage, then came to help, and said, "But the burnt place cannot be eaten. I see that the flame is green and must be poisonous, so much meat is wasted. And, there is also a horse, so it is."
"Don't worry, at worst, I'll go find Grandpa Kiplin and ask him for a bottle of purifying potion. Meat is a good thing, and it can't be wasted."
