Chapter 96: Pretending to Be Stupid

When Xu Zhongyi arrived in Luoyi, it happened to pass the turbulent 1938, and arrived in the turbulent 1939, with strange and even more turbulent 1939.

After the Battle of Jiangcheng, the Japanese army successfully occupied Jiangcheng, but at this time the Japanese army was in an overextended state. Most of its standing and A-level reserve divisions had been put into the front line and failed to destroy the main force of the Chinese army. Although most of the essence areas had been lost, the Shancheng authorities were still not ready to accept the terms of peace talks from Japan. Japan found that they were trapped in the abyss of protracted war that they had always wanted to avoid.

The Japanese army's choice at this time was to stop, consolidate the occupied area, and take local offensives to exert pressure on the government, hoping that the government would agree to the peace talks. This strategy was basically just a re-improvement of the old tune after the fall of Jinling, but the situation was even worse for the Japanese army, and the occupied area was at least twice as large. The Japanese army lacked the strength to fully control the occupied area, and also lacked sufficient reserves.

If it was wise to say that the Japanese army adopted this strategy at the end of 1937, it would be extremely stupid to restart this idea a year later.

After deciding on the strategic concept, the Japanese army began to reorganize its troops at the end of 1938, that is, a large number of newly formed independent brigades and B-class reserve divisions were launched into China, and replaced defenses with the standing divisions and A-class reserve (special) divisions that were originally put into the battlefield. The troops that were replaced may be driven back to the country to release mobilization, or transferred to the Kwantung Army to fight against the threat of the Red Polar Bear.

By early 1939, the Japanese army had adjusted in China (except Northeast), and deployed a total of 24 divisions and 21 independent mixed brigades and two cavalry brigades, with a total of nearly 800,000 ground troops.

The number of these troops is much higher than that of the same period in history. The fundamental reason is that in previous wars, the huge casualties caused to the Japanese army by the Tax Police Corps led by Wu Siren forced Japan to send additional troops.

The number of troops is very large, and the cost of garrisons also makes the Japanese government feel quite pressured. However, the occupied areas are too large, so that although the Japanese army has broken the garrisons into pieces and stationed in a large number of squads and platoon-level strongholds in order to control the occupied areas. Even a division can only maintain the mobile force of one brigade, but the control effect of the occupied areas is still not very good. The guerrillas behind the enemy, the Red Party, not only live well, but also have the mood to "graze" each other.

In addition to striving to control the occupied areas, the Japanese army also hoped to consume the strength of China with local offensives. Since most of the elite troops of the Guofu were deployed in the southwest as reserves, or were arranged around Jiangcheng to wait for an opportunity to counterattack. Therefore, the Japanese army decided to focus the local offensives on the defense zones of the fifth and ninth war zones of China, and to successively attack the direct troops of the Guofu as the top priority.

So, the tax police regiment that was in front and controlled many important places became a spur between the throat of Japan. Unfortunately, they could not draw troops to get rid of this great enemy who was stuck in their throats, and could only send some traitors to Yuzhou to win over and destroy. This is why Dai Chunfeng had the excuse to send the Military Affairs Team led by Xu Zhongyi.

"Mr. Master, student Zhongyi finally meets you again!"

As soon as Xu Zhongyi saw Wu Siren, he wanted to kneel down and cry, as if the child who had been wandering for a long time had finally found the home.

"Stop, you guy will act with me as soon as you come up. Don't do this, tell me, what is the purpose of his Dai Chunfeng sending you here?"

Wu Sairen knew Xu Zhongyi's character well and said straight to the point.

"My mentor is my mentor. As expected, nothing can be hidden from your old man's fire-eyed crystal. In fact, Boss Dai sent me here, one was to hit the eldest son's front station, and the other was to send a secret master's support to the Red Party personnel."

Xu Zhongyi told the truth without any scruples. On the one hand, he knew Wu Siren's ability and believed that Dai Chunfeng's thoughts would never be hidden from his mentor; on the other hand, he believed that Wu Siren would never harm him. After all, when he was in a slight state, Wu Siren took good care of him a lot.

"My uncle! I have too many thoughts. It's really a pity for Dai Chunfeng to test me. I can't just say anything about the family."

Wu Siren sighed infinitely, and Xu Zhongyi was frightened.

"That mentor, if you have anything to do, Zhongyi will give me instructions. I will come here to take a vacation this time. I will turn a blind eye to the things outside the window and only read the books of sages."

Xu Zhongyi's words mean that he will never intervene in the game between the big guys, and will not look at it, ask or inquire, and will slap his butt and leave when the time comes.

"Zhongyi, it's definitely not OK if you want to be a harmless 'waiter' this time. The deputy stationmaster who comes with you is Lu Qiaoshan, he won't allow you to be a salted fish. I know this person from Lu Qiaoshan. He is a fellow villager of Zheng Tingbing. He is good at calculating and insidious. You are just the cover of Dai Chunfeng pushing him to the front desk. He is actually the person who actually investigates my tax police team." Wu Siren said with a smile.

After hearing Wu Siren's words, Xu Zhongyi immediately exploded and cursed: "If there is no background in the Military Control Commission, there will be no human rights. I will use me as a shield and take the blame. He is Li Weigong and Dai Chunfeng are too bad. The rabbit is anxious and biting people!"

After cursing, seeing Wu Siren unmoved, Xu Zhongyi immediately changed his face and said aggrievedly: "Mr., you have to give me an honest student a clear way, otherwise I might let these bastards die of shame."

"Don't be so clever with me. You guys are full of tricks. Don't tell me you can't think of a way to protect yourself." Wu Siren quipped.

"It's my teacher who knows me." Xu Zhongyi licked his face and said, "Mr., look at what difficult Japanese spy cases are in the jurisdiction. The more difficult it is, the better. Let me investigate him for a hundred and eighty years. In this way, I can explain to the Shangfeng. Failure to complete the task only means that I am incompetent and will not say that I am neglecting my duties."

Wu Siren asked hypocritically: "Then why don't you check the Red Party members in my jurisdiction? Wouldn't it be better to win Dai Chunfeng's favor?"

Xu Zhongyi's face was solemn and said extremely serious: "Mr., I know you have always opposed civil war. I dare to tell you these words. Although I don't know much about the Red Party, I know that they are sincere in fighting the war. Although Xu Zhongyi likes to take advantage of small gains and achieve nothing, I will never do anything that my relatives are happy with their enemies. Zhongyi has no big ambitions, so I just want to be a warm-hearted wife and children, and have enough food and clothing for three meals."

"Loyalty and righteousness, I'm afraid your ideal is destined to be unfulfilled. The tree wants to be quiet but the wind does not stop. Among all the students in Wuhu class, only Yu Xiuning can compete with you in his mind. It is difficult to pretend to be smart, and it is even more difficult to pretend to be stupid. Loyalty and righteousness, you are destined to be unable to spend your life in an ordinary way. The wind and rain of this era will force you to become a trendsetter." Wu Siren said firmly.

Xu Zhongyi was stunned for a moment, then said happily: "I didn't expect that I was so powerful in the eyes of my mentor. Can my mentor be able to calculate? I know which path I will take in the future? Then calculate for me, can I win Gu Yufei's favor in the future and make her my wife?"

"If you and Gu Yufei get together in the future, there is a destined person who will make you regret it for life. Watch the mountains and rivers, touch the scenery and enter the homesickness, ask you to follow the flow, and when will the sorrow be stopped, remember yourself and do not think about desires, do yourself and do your own righteousness, don't forget each other, and cherish each other when you walk."

Wu Sirenyun's words made Xu Zhongyi stunned. At this moment, he really regarded this former mentor as a fortune teller.
