Chapter 261 Forbidden Land

When developing traditional medicine, Fang Nan did not forget the masterpiece "Compendium of Materia Medica".

The "Compendium of Materia Medica" has a total of 52 volumes, which was written by Li Shizhen from the 31st year of Jiajing (1552) to the end of the sixth year of Wanli (1578). The manuscripts were made in three changes.

This book uses the "Photo Follow the Outline" writing style, so it is based on the famous book "Photo" and uses "Zhenlei Bencao" as a blueprint to change it.

The prefaces in the book are equivalent to the general discussion, which describes the essential books and theories of medicinal properties; Volume 1 "Material Herbs of All Ethnic Dynasties", introduces 41 main material herbs before the Ming Dynasty; the following collections of discussions on the smell of drugs before the Ming Dynasty, the five flavors should be avoided, specimens of yin and yang, rising, falling, floating, nourishing and purging, urging and reporting, and various drug taboos, among which the discussions of Jin and Yuan schools are mostly based on the discussions.

Volumes 3 to 4 are "the main treatment of all diseases", and follow the old example of "General Medicine for All Diseases" in "Symptoms of Mycobacteria" and list the names and main effects of the main treatment drugs based on pathogens, which is equivalent to a clinical medicine manual.

Volumes 5 to 52 are the discussions, and 1,892 kinds of medicines are collected and 1,109 kinds of medicines are attached.

You can almost call "Compendium of Materia Medica" the "encyclopedia" of traditional medicine in this era. As long as you recite "Compendium of Materia Medica", and then conduct a few years of internship under the care of your teacher, you can basically become a teacher.

Other experienced doctors can also read "Compendium of Materia Medica". No matter how experienced doctors are, they cannot know all kinds of diseases.

The "Compendium of Materia Medica" has been published in the Ming Dynasty ruling region, but the scale is still small and not many people know about it. The Military Intelligence Department brought back several copies of "Compendium of Materia Medica" and has been printed in batches and sold in Wenhua Bookstore. It also recommended that the doctor under the jurisdiction and apprentices buy "Compendium of Materia Medica". It is not mandatory, and whether to buy or not is their choice.

When the Medical University is established in the future, students who study traditional medicine will definitely study "Compendium of Materia Medica".

Compared with the slow-developed traditional medicine, modern medicine has developed a little faster. It is not that the knowledge of modern medicine has increased, but that it is a huge increase in people who have studied modern medicine.

In the eyes of most people, acupuncture and decoction belong to traditional medicine, and surgery belongs to modern medicine. In fact, before the Yuan Dynasty, doctors on China had already developed a lot in surgical operations. Unfortunately, in the Ming Dynasty, conservative treatments mainly based on acupuncture and decoction were popular, and surgical operations had declined.

For example, a soldier's arm was cut into a big hole on the battlefield and a lot of blood was leaked. The treatment method was to use Shihui Hemozhan Powder or Golden Sore Medicine to stop bleeding, and then bandage it with a cloth. It would be more cruel when bleeding persists. It needed fire to burn blood vessels to achieve the purpose of stopping bleeding. Because there was no anesthetic medicine, the injured needed to endure severe pain to heal the wound.

There were very few doctors in the Ming army. The soldiers were often not treated effectively when injured. They were seriously injured and were waiting for death. They may die due to minor injuries. Only officers and generals were injured and would have doctors rushed to treat quickly.

As for the wounds being sutured with needles and threads, they were basically invisible in the Ming army.

Compared with the Ming army, there were few military doctors in the People's Army, but there were many health workers. Doctors were used to describe people who master certain medical skills. However, health workers only mastered very little medical knowledge, mainly to heal wounds for injured comrades. Sewing wounds with needles and thread is the most important medical skills that health workers need to master.

These health workers are barely counted as modern medicine. People in the People's Army who truly treat modern medicine are in the "Modern Medicine Research Institute" in Guangzhou City. The director is Luo Yan, a student from Fang Nan.

As early as when the People's Army was still hiding in the mountains, Luo Yan led the medical team to follow the People's Army. The People's Army went to encircle and suppress the bandits, and Luo Yan led his people to study the bandits' bodies.

The Institute of Modern Medicine has at least figured out the general results of the human body and also known that the blood types in the human body are different. Then, the Institute has used death row prisoners to conduct research. The Institute has almost mastered the technology of injecting blood types into people with the same blood type, but this technology cannot be used for the time being. The syringe for blood transfusion is a problem, and it is also a problem to detect human blood models.

The People's Army is more in the research stage of modern medicine and will not use it in a short period of time. For example, injecting another blood into one person, which is something that most people cannot accept.

Fang Nan planned to set up a newspaper in the future and publish a newspaper, and gradually publish some information in the newspaper, so that the public can slowly understand various novel knowledge, and it will not be abrupt when talking about bleeding type knowledge.

At present, the institute has two main tasks: one is to continue researching the human body, and the other is to find practical anesthetic drugs or means.

When performing surgical procedures, the biggest problem is that the patient will feel severe pain. Do you need to be knocked out and then undergo surgery? Patients who are knocked out are also prone to accidents, which will cause more pain to the patient.

Anesthetics are essential for surgery.

In addition, the emergence of microscopes is good news for the medical research of the institute. The addition of microscopes can enable the institute to enter the cellular level of human body research. However, the microscopes just studied and manufactured can barely be used, and more and better microscopes are researched and manufactured.

It is also because the modern medical research institute conducts research on the human body, which is too bloody and is easily misunderstood when discovered, and then demonizes the People's Army. Therefore, the place where the institute is located is a forbidden area, with elite People's Army garrisons, and outsiders cannot enter at all.

The speed of medical development is too slow, and Fang Nan is not paying much attention. Only when the Modern Medical Research Institute reports on any new progress in research will Fang Nan be happy.

Fang Nan felt that it would take about ten years, and the medicine in the People's Army-ruled region could have some development. It would take at least fifteen years to achieve greater development. It would take more than thirty years to make everyone under the People's Army able to go to the hospital to afford medical treatment.

The development of medicine is a longer time than the development of education. Now Fang Nan is paying more attention to military and wars that are not sure when will come.

Basically, starting from the second half of this year, Fang Nan presided over one meeting after another, official dispatch, material preparation, military mobilization, etc., these things made Fang Nan busy.

The next war is too important to the People's Army. It is expected that the People's Army and the Ming court will invest more than one million troops. The People's Army is very confident that it can defeat the Ming army and then occupy more territory. It is a major issue that the People's Army can defeat the Ming army.
