Chapter 29 The Suspect(1/2)

When Luke and Kylena arrived at the dungeon, Xuelai and Pisco had already set up the interrogation room. The seven suspects were tied to chairs with their heads covered, and Pisco made a "pop" sound with a whip in his hand.

.

Xue Lai held a gun and was about to interrogate the first person. When he saw Luke coming in, he immediately stood up and saluted.

"Lord Governor!"

Pisco turned around and saw Luke standing up straight in a standard military posture: "Mr. Governor!"

Kylena moved a chair, and Luke sat down and asked Xue Lai, "What are you doing?"

"Interrogating the suspect..." Xue Lai replied: "Sir Governor, you have a distinguished status now. Just let me and Pisco do the interrogation work. I promise to get them to confess within an hour."

Luke sighed in his heart, if Kylena hadn't reported it in time, several suspects would have died.

"This case is related to the safety of Princess Dai'er. From now on, no one can interrogate it privately without my permission. You and Pisco stand on the same side... Kylena, give me the information sent by the headquarters."

Xuelai and Pisco stood aside obediently. Kylena took out a few documents from the briefcase she carried with her. When she handed them to Luke's hands, she said: "The Imperial Secret Service Headquarters has done something about this kid."

After a lot of preliminary work, these seven people are most likely related to the attack on Princess Dai'er. Here are the information on the seven of them, as well as the files compiled by the headquarters."

Luke held the document and looked at it carefully.

After the attack on Princess Dai'er, the Imperial Secret Service has been arresting people in the imperial capital. In addition to casting a wide net, it also aims to alert the attackers so that the participants in the attack will reveal their flaws under pressure.

With Agatha's supervision, the imperial agents were very attentive to this case. All the people arrested were cross-screened, and after careful sifting over and over again, these seven people who may have a major connection with this case were screened out.

No matter how hard they tried to investigate, they couldn't find anything. Regardless of coercion, inducement, or torture, they all denied having anything to do with the attack on Princess Dai'er.

Time passed slowly, and no one in the interrogation room dared to make a sound.

The descriptions of these people in the file are very detailed, including what punishments were used, when they were used, and when they ended. How many whips were used during the flogging, how many minutes they were drowned by waterboarding, how many times they fainted, what injuries they suffered, and what kind of injuries they suffered.

Several mental attacks...

Just by looking at it, Luke couldn't help but sigh that the secret service headquarters was very professional. If nothing could be found out despite such cruel torture, these people were either innocent or had received professional training.

After about an hour, Luke read all the files.

To sum up, on the night Princess Dai'er was attacked, they either appeared near the attack site; or appeared near the attacker's retreat route; or they tried to leave the imperial capital when the whole city was under martial law.

Of course, there are other doubts, so let the Secret Service headquarters screen them out.

"Take off their hoods."

Luke gave the order, and Pisco stepped forward and took off all the suspect's hoods.

The headquarters used a lot of torture on them, but did not slap them in the face. Therefore, even if there are some bruises and scars, their appearance can still be easily distinguished.

While observing the seven suspects, Luke tried his best to recall the NPCs in Saint-Lun City he had seen in the game. He also called up the data on his phone to see if he could make the case a little less difficult.

As a result...there was an unexpected surprise.

Philemon Sam is a salesman for a cosmetics company. Because he sells high-end cosmetics, he often goes in and out of the Imperial City. When Princess Del was attacked, Sam was captured by imperial agents in the grass two blocks away.

.

His explanation was that he had just explained the use of new cosmetics to a lady, so he was delayed in the Imperial City. And because he didn't know what happened, he hid in the grass in fear.

The lady and the servant confirmed Sam's story.

But the Imperial agents did not eliminate their suspicions about Sam.

The attack on Princess Dai'er was a very careful operation. In addition to the assassin who carried out the assassination, there must be people standing guard for the assassin. When the assassin escaped, there must also be someone doing some finishing work.

Therefore, the Imperial Agent felt that Sam might be related to this eucalyptus, but there was no evidence and nothing was asked from him.

But Luke knew Sam.

He is a small character. He doesn't even know who he is working for. He is just a cannon fodder who follows orders. Even if he confesses, there is no way to find the mastermind of the attack. His supervisor should have known that he had been caught long ago.

Ran away, or was disposed of.

In the plot mission of a prince in the Anno game, the player will have several encounters with Philemon Sam. He is a high-end cosmetics salesman who knows the ladies in the Imperial City very well and can provide useful information in some missions.

.

But this cannot be used as evidence to prove that the prince was the mastermind behind the attack on Princess Daier. Should he take out his cell phone and let Augustine see it?

Moreover...it doesn't seem to prove that the prince is related to the eucalyptus. There is indeed a possibility that Sam happened to pass by there.

As for the other people... their information was not found on the phone, but it cannot be said that they have nothing to do with Eucalyptus.

Very tricky!

Luke said to everyone in the interrogation room: "I am Meteor, your Majesty's newly appointed acting governor of Raging Waves City, and also the director of Secret Service Six of the Imperial Secret Service. I am now fully responsible for the attack on Princess Del, and I will give you a chance.

, Telling what I want to know can reduce the crime..."

"Mr. Governor." A suspect immediately cried: "I am innocent! I have a factory outside the city. That night some workers came back and told me that there was a fire in the factory warehouse, so I hurried out of the city.

My workers can prove what I said. Please let me go, my family is still waiting for me."

"My Lord Governor, you are innocent..."

There were cries of begging for mercy in the interrogation room, and even Philemon Sam burst into tears, as if he had really been wronged.

Seeing that it had no effect, Luke said: "Okay, since no one said anything, let's start the interrogation!"

Seeing that these people were still crying, Pisco whipped his whip and shouted: "Shut up! Didn't you hear what my governor said! Whoever makes a sound, I will twist his head

Come down!"

Pisco's image was indeed better at scaring people than Luke, and the interrogation room suddenly became quiet.

Luke cast an appreciative look at Pisco, and then said to the suspects: "Now I ask questions, and whoever I ask will answer them. Snow comes..."

Xue Lai replied respectfully: "What are the governor's orders?"

"Anyone who speaks without my permission...will be killed immediately!"

Xue Lai replied loudly and vigorously: "As you command, Governor!"

"Philemon Sam" Luke looked at the second young man on his left and asked, "Tell me again in detail what you did in the Imperial City that night, who you met, and what you said."

Being called out first made Sam show a fleeting expression of surprise, but he quickly adjusted his attitude and said again what he had said countless times to the imperial agents.

After it was over, Luke didn't say anything, but asked the next person the same question.

After asking all seven people.

"Philemon Sam" Luke called Sam's name again: "Where do you live, how many people are in your family, what is your name, and what is your relationship to you?"

Sam continued to answer. He was very confident in his disguised identity. An orphan from a remote area, he was admitted to a school in the imperial capital with his own efforts. After graduation, he has been selling cosmetics. His performance is not top-notch but he also has a good income.

.I just got married last year, and my wife’s family background is very ordinary.

Everything can be verified, and I am a very ordinary citizen of St. Lun City.

After Sam finished speaking, Luke continued to ask the next person.

Wait until all seven people have asked it.

"Philemon Sam" Luke called Sam's name again: "When I arrested you, you carried some cosmetics with you. Please tell me the type, name and function of the cosmetics."

This time Sam was a little unsure.

It wasn't that he was nervous because of Qiuxing's questions, but he didn't know why Qiuxing started asking questions from himself three times in a row. If he had asked questions in order, it would have been nothing, but for the next six people, he asked questions out of order.

Only I was the first three times in a row.

Is this a coincidence?

Luke's question was not difficult for Sam. After he answered it easily, he turned his attention to the others.

They are also very simple questions, but the order of naming is irregular.

After a round of questions...

"Philemon Sam" Luke stared at Sam and asked, "You often go to and from the Imperial City. You should have seen many distinguished people. Do you know any members of the royal family?"

"I, I don't know the royal family." Sam's voice was trembling.

It is true that he does not know any members of the royal family, he is just sure that his identity has been exposed. If the question is randomly asked, he will be ranked first among the seven people four times in a row, and the chance of coincidence is extremely slim.

But this is impossible!

After so many days at the Secret Intelligence Service headquarters and so many punishments, I didn't reveal any evidence. How could he, a man from Raging Wave City, who had just met me, find out my identity?

After Luke got the answer from Sam, he asked the next person without stopping.

Six people asked questions in random order. After one round...

"Philemon Sam. Did you know that Princess Del went to Miss Clear Sky's museum that night?"

Sam, who was already determined to die, answered calmly this time: "I don't know."

The questions continue.

Luke asked ten rounds of questions in total, and Philemon Sam was named first in each round. In the end, even the other six suspects who were questioned noticed something strange and looked at Sam with different eyes.

Although Sam continued to deny and cover up, his expression was no longer disguised. When he found out that the attacker was Princess Dai'er that night, he knew that he was an outcast and had no chance of making meritorious deeds.
To be continued...
