Chapter 1 The hero behind the scenes

The Battle of Wanjialing was successfully concluded. The Battle of Wuhan ended with the defeat of our army and the loss of Wuhan. Although we lost this unprecedented battle, the Japanese invaders were also not easy.

After the war, the number of casualties recognized by the Japanese army was 35,000, while the National Army counted 257,000 casualties of the Japanese invaders. The Military Commission counted 400,000 casualties of the National Army! Regardless of the huge differences in the statistics of the Japanese invaders between the two sides, in a Wuhan Battle, our military and civilians made great sacrifices, but they also achieved a certain strategic goal, which was to delay the crazy attack of the Japanese invaders.

As we all know, Japan is a resource-scarce country. The Battle of Wuhan in Wuhan caused the Japanese invaders to suffer a large loss of troops and consume huge materials and gold reserves. They no longer had the ability to launch another super-large battle like Songhu, Xuzhou and Wuhan with the purpose of conquering cities and territories. Since then, the Anti-Japanese War has entered a strategic stalemate stage.

Our country invested millions of soldiers and countless money, grain and materials to fight this unprecedented decisive battle with the Japanese invaders, but the result ended with the fall of Wuhan. Such a war result inevitably made the Chinese people depressed.

Ordinary civilians can be frustrated, but the National Government cannot be frustrated, the Military Commission cannot be frustrated, and the Chairman cannot be frustrated! They must find ways to make the military and civilians across the country get out of this frustration as soon as possible, regain their spirits, pick up their weapons and fight against the Japanese invaders!

The best way to boost the morale of the army is of course to have a refreshing victory, but the time is obviously not yet ripe. In addition, it becomes necessary to find some highlights in the just-concluded Wuhan Campaign and vigorously reward a group of officers, soldiers and generals who have made great contributions in fighting, killed the enemy, and even achieved local victory.

The Wanjialing victory was obviously the most dazzling star in the Battle of Wuhan. It would be an unprecedented victory to almost wipe out a Japanese division. The first hero of this battle was naturally the commander-in-chief of the Wanjialing Battle!

In terms of merit, Xue Yue was promoted to acting commander-in-chief of the Ninth War Zone, and was later appointed as chairman of the Hunan Provincial Government; Yu Jishi, the commander of the 74th Army, was first promoted to commander-in-chief of the Zhuzhou Garrison in Changsha, and the second year was again promoted to deputy commander-in-chief of the 20th Army; Wang Yaowu, the commander of the 51st Division, was promoted to deputy commander-in-chief of the 74th Army.

As for Zhang Lingfu, who made a great contribution in the Battle of Zhang Gushan, after receiving the fourth-class Yunhui Medal, he was compiled into the drama "The Great Victory of De'an" by Tian Han, the lyricist of "The March of the Volunteers", and became famous all over the world!

Another leader in the Battle of Zhang Gushan, Hu Fei, the leader of the Tenderson Regiment, became the hero behind the scenes. Others received meritorious service, promoted and made money, and even filmed dramas, but Hu Fei seemed to have been forgotten by everyone. If you insist on finding it, there is an officer in the drama "The Great Victory of De'an" whose age and position are somewhat similar to Hu Fei.

After the operation, Hu Fei was resting. The De'an Viet, which was known to everyone in the world, seemed to have nothing to do with him. The officers of the Third Regiment were naturally dissatisfied, but everyone didn't know who to seek treatment for them, and they didn't want to disturb Hu Fei because of these things.

Doctor Zhang Zhonglin once sternly warned all generals that Hu Fei needs to maintain an absolute calm mind during his recovery period and strictly prohibited from being stimulated!

Hu Fei lies in a separate room every day. Apart from the doctor and nurse who come to perform routine treatment examinations, only two women, Xu Yajun and Feng Yi, took turns to take care of him.

Xu Yajun is a woman who has had a close relationship with him, and it is a bit difficult to understand that Feng Yi is also guarding her.

Time passed day by day. In the past two months, except for a few core generals such as Liu Dong and others who came to visit him, Hu Fei was the only two women, Feng Yi and Xu Yajun. Hu Fei had also inquired about the situation of the troops from those who visited him, and the answers he got were always well. If he asked in detail, he would find excuses to change the topic.

Hu Fei was naturally suspicious of this, but he couldn't move his body and couldn't ask, so he had to take care of it. Of course, there was a good news. That day, when Ji Jinbiao was jumping around to see him, Hu Fei was really happy.

The comrades were together. After less than two minutes of talking loudly, Zhang Zhonglin came in with a stern face. Doctor Zhang didn't say anything, and just stared at him and glanced around. The iron-blooded soldiers in the room were all depressed and lost their energy. Hu Fei wondered, when did Zhang Zhonglin have such great lethality? Even Xiong Wei, who couldn't stab the needle, was afraid of him?

In fact, he didn't know that in the first half month after his injury, all of the generals who came, except Ji Jinbiao, had been ridiculed and sarcastic by Dr. Zhang countless times.

Originally, these people didn’t buy Zhang Zhonglin’s account, but wasn’t Fei Ge in the hands of others? He had no choice but to bow his head. Who would have thought that after many times, it would become a habit. Now these people are under psychological pressure when they see Zhang Zhonglin!

Hu Fei's good physical fitness is surprising. At the beginning, Zhang Zhonglin judged that it would take at least half a year to recover from his injury; a month later, Dr. Zhang modified Hu Fei's recovery time, thinking that Hu Fei could walk as usual in at most five months; a month and a half later, Zhang Zhonglin told Liu Dong and others who came to visit the disease that Brother Fei would be able to recover in at most two and a half months!

In two and five days, Hu Fei began to try to go to the ground. In ten days, he could walk slowly in the ward. After two and a half months, Hu Fei walked out of the ward to breathe the fresh air outside the room! It seemed that he could fully recover in less than four months.

Zhang Zhonglin was happy and did not forget to warn Hu Fei, "You have not completely recovered from your injuries yet, so don't do strenuous exercise, so as not to have an accident during the recovery period and affect the recovery time. Dr. Zhang was kind-hearted, so Hu Fei had to follow the doctor's instructions. Therefore, he just went around the ward and talked to the two women, and his life was leisurely.

On this day, Xu Yajun and Feng Yi were not there. While Hu Fei was walking in the yard alone, he suddenly saw Tosang circling under a tree. Hu Fei raised his hand and shouted the person, "Tosang, you are spinning around there like a donkey with a head pulled. What's the matter?"

"It's okay. I'm idle and exercise." Tosang shook his head repeatedly, but looking at his expression, it didn't look like he was exercising. Besides, is there any way he exercised around a tree?

"You guys have gained abilities? I ask you, you dare not tell the truth, right?" Hu Fei's eyebrows were raised and his face changed. He used to be scary when he glared at him, but now he is just recovering from a serious illness. He is wearing a hospital gown and a pair of cotton slippers on his feet. With his pale face, he can't get involved in the battle with the iron-blooded general.
