Chapter 91 War and Cooperation

Mikhail Markovic Borotin is one of the many celebrities whom Hessman knew in history who would die undestined since his rebirth in this time and space.∽↗He would be arrested in 1949 for the Anna Louise Strong spy case and died in a labor camp in May 1951. Ms. Strong herself was also arrested at the same time. However, she was lucky enough to survive until Khrushchev came to power, was released in 1955, came to China in 1958, settled in Beijing, and became a friend of the progressive American writers and Chinese people. She died in 1970 and was buried in the famous Babaoshan Martyrs Cemetery.

In a beautiful British-style villa outside Riga (it turned out to be a British businessman), Hessman met Borotin. The man with thick eyebrows, big eyes and a huge nose and beard seemed a little angry. He protested and threatened as soon as he saw Hessman.

"If you do not give up your policy of hostility to the Russian Soviet Republic," he said. "The Red Army will take decisive measures."

"What decisive measures are taken?" Hessman asked.

"Attack, the Red Army will attack. Estonia and Kurland were originally Russian lands. Now that the Treaty of Brest has been abolished, we can take back Estonia and Kurland at any time. Unless you give up your hostile policy, release all *******, release freedom of speech, and expel the reactionary forces of Belarus." Borotin, who will become a reactionary in the future, said in a very harsh tone, "This is the last warning from the Russian Soviet Republic to you. If you do not accept it, then the war will break out immediately?"

Hessman grinned and turned his head to look at Halde, who had a bitter face. He joined Stasi, responsible for studying military intelligence and was also the deputy chief of staff of the Kurland Defense Forces.

"Major, our war with the Russian Bolsheviks has not yet broken out?"

"There has not been reported in this regard yet," Halder said.

"That's going to break out quickly!" Hessman laughed out loud. "Comrade Borotin, please send a telegram to Comrade Lenin and ask the Red Army to come over quickly and have some conflicts with us on the border of Pskov Prefecture. If you have any trouble, you can shoot a few shots. It is best to issue another statement: It means that Kurland and Estonia are an inseparable part of Russia."

"Mr. Hessman, what do you mean?"

Borodin no longer said threats now - the Belarusian army under Yudenic is not a problem at the moment, but the 100,000 German troops in Kurland are not a joke. Their training and equipment are first-class, and the officers are active German officers. They really have to be devoted to fighting for the Tsar, and the Red Army in Petrograd could not handle it.

Although the Red Army is now claiming to have more than one million and hundreds of thousands, their combat effectiveness is really not very good. Otherwise, they would not have not defeated less than one-third of the number, and the White Guards are in trouble.

Now is the critical moment of the civil war. The main forces of the Red Army are fighting against Kolchak (he is now the commander of the Urals and the Siberian White Army, with 150,000 troops) and are preparing to attack Ukraine on a large scale. They cannot draw too many troops to attack the United Principality of Polo.

Moreover, on the Western Front, the Red Army's enemies were not just Polo's family. Poland's Pisusky also showed hostility to the Soviet Union. He had publicly expressed his desire to seize Ukraine's land and bloody suppression of the Bolshevik organization in Lithuania.

"It means we are going to fight you!" Hessman said, "We are fighting with you under the orders of His Majesty Oliga, the eldest Duke of Russia, so this is a civil war between us Russians! Comrade Borotin, do you understand what I mean?"

Borodin seemed to understand a little. "We do not recognize the Treaty of Brest, nor do you recognize the treaty, right?"

"Yes," Hessman nodded. "The government of the Grand Duke does not recognize the legitimacy of this treaty, nor will the Allies recognize it."

“That means that Kurland and Estonia are still part of Russia.”

"Yes, it's legally said." Hessman nodded with a smile. This is a legal basis for the United Principality of Polo to evade the Treaty of Versailles. The Allies certainly do not recognize the Treaty of Brest, and the governments of the Bolsheviks and Polo's United Principality also do not recognize it. In this way, the United Principality of Polo is part of Russia from the perspective of international law - just like Taiwan after 1949! No matter how much the Americans think, they cannot regard it as part of Japan and send troops to occupy it.

Moreover, there was still hope for restoring the Russian Empire. On the way to meet Borotin, Chloe told him: Denikin, Flanger, Kolchak and Semenov all sent congratulatory messages to the monarch of the United Principality who took office as Polo, and expressed his loyalty to His Majesty the Tsar and His Majesty the Grand Duke.

Considering that the Russian civil war is still undecided, the female grand duke is very likely to become the real Russian Empress! He humiliated the future Russian Empress as the monarch of a defeated country, and even forced her to hand over her principality, which will seriously damage the future relations between Britain, the United States, France and Russia.

From this perspective, it is quite advantageous to put the United Principality of Polo and the Russian Soviet government in a "civil war state".

"So we are compatriots now?" Borotin felt amused.

"Yes, my dear fellow!" Hessman replied in Russian. "I think... the battlefield of civil war between us should be at the junction of Livornia and Pskov."

"Pretending to fight a civil war?" Borotin asked.

"Yes." Hessman smiled and shrugged, "But we can't control Tallinn now... Yudenic's army will probably fight really, you have to be careful."

"But what are the benefits of doing this?" Borotin asked back with a frown.

"The benefits...well, this is very obvious." Hessman said, turning his fingers, "First of all, we won't really fight you. The 100,000 regular troops and the 100,000 people's stormtroopers will remain neutral in the Russian civil war."

Borotin rolled his eyelids, that's nothing nonsense! What's the relationship between you Germans and the Russian civil war? What's the benefit of winning? Really become a Russian?

"Secondly, we will continue to support the struggle of the Hungarian Bolsheviks. By the way... have they established a party?"

"not yet."

"Have you a little hurry," said Hessman. "I hope they can come to power as soon as possible to establish a Soviet state."

"What help can you give them?" Borotin looked at Hessman with a bright look. This is the real key thing! As long as the red flag of Hungary does not fall, the Allies will not be able to send a large number of interference troops to Russia.

"Weapons and ammunition, military advisers, and access to and from Hungary," said Hessman. "Of course, there is also the victory of the Hungarian Revolution!"

"The victory of the Hungarian Revolution? How do you give it?"

Hessman frowned slightly: "Comrade Borotin, have you ever heard of a major general named Paul von Letovin Elbeck?"

"who is he?"

Hessman said slowly: "He is the commander of the German East African security forces! In the past four years, he has led an army mainly composed of blacks, using the old Mauser 1871 rifle, 67 machine guns and 31 light field guns, and moved to German East Africa, British East Africa and Portuguese Mozambique with complete disconnection of support. The British army with a population of tens of thousands had no way to deal with him. If he and his soldiers went to Hungary... I promise that the war there would continue. The Hungarians could fight as long as they wanted!"
