Chapter 6 The Hessman Report

"Ludwig, what you said to Lenin is really not the judgment of the General Staff?"

"No, I'm sorry, that's not the judgment of the General Staff..."

"Ludwig, can I say you are too much? If the people in the General Staff knew about those words, you would probably have to go to the most dangerous battlefield on the Western Front to be a sergeant!"

"Oscar! You want to report to your superiors? God, how can you do that?"

"Chloe, don't interrupt! What Ludwig and Lenin said is quite harmful!"

"Harm? Maybe it will really happen?"

"That's impossible! Absolutely impossible!"

After dinner at Lenin's residence, Hessman, Etel and Heinsberg left Qiujiweizer and followed the mountain path to Heinsberg's villa under the moonlight. On the way, a quarrel broke out among the three. Etel scolded Hessman and threatened to report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Hessman insisted that his judgment was completely correct - of course, and later history would prove it. Hessberg kept saying good things for Hessman.

In the end, Etel and Heinsberg fought each other endlessly, and Hessman became a bystander.

It seems like a good pastime after dinner to watch people quarrel. The road down the mountain was not lonely for Hessman. When he returned to the villa, it was completely dark. Hessman looked at his watch and it was almost eleven o'clock in the middle of the night. However, he was not sleepy at all. He was in a state of excitement. He had dinner with Comrade Lenin tonight... plus the thoughts of the previous few days, he had vaguely found a road away from the gallows!

As long as the Third Reich did not fight the Soviet Union to the death, at least he could be a socialist revolutionary in the older generation of countries and spend his old age in Switzerland or Berchtesgaden. And the Soviet Union, the evil empire second only to fascist Germany, would not disintegrate tragically at the end of 1991... In fact, the relationship between the Soviet Empire and fascist Germany before June 22, 1941 was beneficial to both sides. The relationship between these two countries was not a life-and-death, but a cold mouth.

The disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991 can be said to be the inevitable result of the demise of the Third Reich of Germany in 1945. With the total economic output of the Soviet Union and several small Eastern European countries to confront the entire capitalist world, it is really not easy to survive for so many years.

If the Third Reich is still there, the capitalist camp will be divided into two large parts, and Germany and the United States, which have most of Europe, can basically be evenly matched. For the Soviet Union, life will naturally be much better - this is the real "Three Kingdoms".

However, it is still difficult to achieve this wishful thinking of Hessman. Not only Comrade Lenin and his revolutionary comrades have great ambitions and are determined to liberate all mankind. In Germany, there are also a few people who hate Russia and the Soviet Union.

For example, the bearded head of Adolf Hitler!

It seems that I have to work hard to perform. If I can make big names like Ludendolf and Hindenburg optimistic, there may be greater room for operation, right?

Hessman touched his neck, and did not say good night to Etel and Heinsberg, and walked straight to his bedroom. However, he did not sleep, but leaned on a desk in the bedroom and began to draft a report to the General Staff - the Report on Lenin and the Bolsheviks, which later became known as "almost changing the course of World War I". This report is also called the "Hessman Report".

...

"Good morning Chloe!"

After staying up all night, Hessman, holding a folder, yawned down the stairs to the hall, and saw Chloe standing next to a long table with an elderly maid preparing breakfast. Seeing Hessman with a tired face, her eyes wide open. "Oh my God, Ludwig, have you not slept all night?"

"Yes, I'm preparing a report to the General Staff Department, and I've written a lot."

"About Lenin?"

“About winning the war.”

"Oh, it's amazing, you'll be the major because of this." Chloe took a few steps, pulled a chair away, and smiled sweetly at Hessman. "Sit down, eat something, and go and have a good sleep...I think we'll stay here for a long time, you have time."

"Thank you." Hessman thanked him, sat down, placed the folder on the table in front of him, picked up a glass of milk and took a sip. "Chloe, we won't stay in Qiujiweizer for a long time, April... Maybe earlier, we will arrive in Russia and be with Lenin!"

Hessman remembers that Lenin published an "April Outline" after the February Revolution, when he had returned to Russia.

"April, go to Russia? How is this possible?" Etel appeared in the hall with a red face. He heard Hessman's speech and immediately retorted. "Do you know how complicated it is to send Lenin back to Russia? Now Lenin has not given any promises, and he also wants to get a lot of goldmarks."

"That's the thinking of your diplomats. The military and His Majesty the Emperor don't have that good patience."

Hessman said: "We have resumed unlimited submarine warfare last month, which shows that the General Staff is already afraid of the indefinite delay in the war and wants to achieve decent peace as soon as possible. The Russian Revolution has given us a godsend opportunity. The General Staff will do its best to seize the opportunity! If there is no result in contact with the Russian Provisional Government, Lenin will immediately set off and return home."

He patted the folder on the table, "Oscar, this is a document I drafted to make full use of Russian resources to win. You can also take a look."

"Use the resources of Russia?" Etel pulled a chair, sat down next to Hessman, then took the folder, opened it and looked at it.

Although Hessmann had no hope for Germany to win a war or get a decent peace, in order to attract the attention of the two great men, Hindenburg and Rudendolf, he still wanted to point out a clear path to the Second German Empire that seemed OK.

"Full support the Bolsheviks so that they can establish a stable rule in the shortest time... This is a necessary condition for the empire to obtain the resources needed to maintain the war from Russia."

Etel whispered one of the documents, then looked up at Hessman, "Ludwig, what do you mean by 'full strength'?"

"All means! military!" said Hessman, "weapons and military advisers can be provided to the Bolsheviks, and soldiers can be sent directly if necessary... because I expect the Western Front will go through a long and arduous war. In order to maintain the frontline and the morale in the rear, we need a lot of things, the most important of which is food. If we want Russian food, we cannot put Russia into long-term turmoil. At least we must help the Bolsheviks stabilize the situation before the winter wheat began to sow in 1917, so that we can get enough food supply in the summer of 1918. With food and backing with a friendly Russia, we can maintain the war on the Western Front. Especially when the United States is likely to join!"

"Isn't it that the US army launched an offensive that completely defeated France before it arrived in Europe?"

Hessmann said in a heavy tone, "No, this cannot be done! Because to some extent, the war is carried out by hope. As long as the hope of victory is large enough, France will persist. Once the United States joins the war, the French will think that they will win, and therefore, no matter how difficult it is, they will not surrender. Therefore, when the United States participates in the war, we should choose to rely on Russia to engage in a protracted war, and give the enemy the greatest damage with strong defense, so that we can seek decent peace. If the United States does not participate in the war, we can use a fierce offensive to make the French desperate."

"It seems to be something," Etel shook his head, "it's just too pessimistic..."

Hessman smacked his lips and stared at Etel, "Oscar, you are a senior diplomat and have been in contact with Lenin for ten years. I hope you can write an analysis report of Lenin and the Bolsheviks... It is best to predict that they will soon gain power in Petersburg!"

"Will they get power soon? How quickly?"

"October or November...after the Russian army on the front line was defeated."

Etel hesitated for a moment, "Ludwig, do you think the Eastern Front will win a great victory soon? But I heard that the Russians are quite capable of fighting."
