Chapter 1020 Overall favorable

"Comrade General Secretary, the current situation on the front line is generally beneficial to us..."

Although my heart was already covered with ominous signs of failure, Zhukov still put forward a "overall advantageous" conclusion when reporting the situation of the front line to Stalin.?

This is not because Zhukov reported good news but not bad news. Instead, this Soviet war god showed some changes in the battlefield situation that was beneficial to the Soviet army in the battlefield where the battle was difficult to resolve. This gratifying change is: the difficulties encountered by the armored cluster with tanks as the core in the attack are more serious than any period in history!

In other words, in front of a large number of infantry (mechanized infantry) equipped with anti-tank weapons, tanks have lost their former glory.

This change is undoubtedly beneficial to the Soviet Red Army, which was unable to equip a large number of heavy tanks.

"Comrade General Secretary," said Zhukov, "I have just inspected the front line and know the situation on the front line best. There, our comrades are very brave and do their best to fight. And the reason why they have not achieved very satisfactory (in Zhukov's opinion, the counterattack on the North Line is already very satisfactory, but Stalin's requirements are relatively high) results, in addition to the strength of the enemy, is mainly because the current battlefield exchange rate advantage is shifting from tanks to anti-tank weapons."

"The advantage is shifting to anti-tank weapons?" Stalin frowned slightly, "Comrade Zhukov, what do you mean is the era when tanks dominate the ground battlefield has passed?"

"Yes." Zhukov nodded and said, "In 1942 or even earlier, the anti-tank weapons that infantry could use were very limited and had poor results. But now, infantry has many ways to attack tanks. And there are also tactics that combine infantry and anti-tank-specific armored vehicles... We and the Germans have mastered this tactic, and they also have almost the same weapons, which are very effective."

"Are you talking about iron fist?" Stalin asked.

There is no concept of protecting intellectual property rights on the Soviet and German battlefield, and neither side is interested in plagiarizing the other party's excellent design. The Iron Fist Anti-tank Grenade is a typical example. It is now copied by the Soviet Union, which is at a disadvantage in terms of tank count.

"There is also the su-57!" When talking about this weapon, Zhukov seemed a little excited. "We have the su-57, the White Bandits have the Oliga tank destroyer, and the Germans also have similar weapons, which are 15-ton tank destroyer equipped with 75mm guns. Judging from the battlefield use, this weapon is very effective and is particularly conducive to defensive warfare."

Su-57, "Oliga's Little Hammer" and "Sursuit" have no plagiarism between each other, but they are very similar.

They are all products of the same idea. They all appear as a self-propelled anti-tank gun that can be moved by its own power, and has a considerable degree of armor, powerful and low-cost.

After two years of fighting with tanks and anti-tank guns, Soviet and German weapons experts realized that the combat effectiveness of "self-propelled" and "armored" anti-tank guns is far more effective than towed anti-tank guns. Just study the report and loss exchange ratio of front-line troops.

Therefore, pursuing low-cost tank destroyers has become the common choice of the Soviet and German industrial departments.

The emergence of su-57, "Oliga's little hammer" and "Sursuiter" are obviously more beneficial to the defense side, especially the Soviet Union, which is losing most of its industrial capabilities.

"Comrade General Secretary, on the current northern battlefield, light tank destroyers equipped with infantry equipped with anti-tank rocket launchers and grenade launchers and automatic firearms have shown strong combat effectiveness. Even if we invest in JS-2 to guide infantry attacks, there is a considerable probability of being knocked back... The probability of successful defense is 87.5%.

Ci is not in charge of the army! For a commander like Zhukov, the officers and soldiers below are just a string of cold numbers. Not only will he not feel sad about the heavy losses, but he can also calmly see the changes in the battlefield situation from a series of shocking loss numbers.

He paused and then told Stalin: "In our defensive operations (the coalition forces will also launch counterattacks), the same tactics and force combinations were used, and the defense success rate reached 75%.

In other words, the German army (alliance) launched four attacks, and only 1 could win!

"Only 75%? Not as high as the enemy..." Stalin asked with a frown, "Is it because of no air superiority?"

"Yes," Zhukov said, "but the 75% defense success rate is still very high, and after calculating the results of the air strike, the loss exchange rate between the two sides is still around 1:1... Of course, this is the achievement achieved without the German army investing in Tiger tanks and e-5o tanks."

The numbers Zhukov reported to Stalin were of course different from the actual situation. The losses of the coalition forces were not that great, and the losses of the Germans were even smaller. However, there was nothing wrong in the general direction, and the tanks were indeed not as sharp as they were.

"It's also very good," Stalin thought, "our warriors don't have a strong defensive position to rely on."

"It's very good," Zhukov said. "If we could have such a defense success rate and loss exchange rate in the past two years, the Germans would have been defeated long ago. So I suggest changing the tactics as soon as possible, and combining infantry and anti-tank destroyers as the main combat mode of the Red Army in the future. At the same time, we should also adjust the weapon production plan, mass production of Su-57 tank destroyers, and reduce the production of T-34/85 and JS-2 tanks."

"The anti-tank effect of the su-57 tank destroyer has exceeded the t-34/85 and js-2?" Stalin was a little surprised by Zhukov's proposal.

Although the su-57 is powerful, how can it be with the t-35/85, js-2 with 85mm cannon and 122mm cannon?

"No, this is impossible." Zhukov shook his head, "but the resources used to produce a JS-2 can produce at least three Su-57s. And we now have stocks of 1OOO BT series and T-26 series tanks (because the former Soviet Union completed the T-34 replacement of BT and T-26 series tanks in the world revolution, so there is a large inventory of old tanks). If the Su-57 is modified with these stocks of BT tanks and T-26 tanks, the cost and labor hours will be more than 90% less than the production of a JS-2 tank."

Zhukov made such a suggestion because he knew that the Soviet Union would soon lose the national strength to mass produce and use JS-2 and T-34/85. The modified stock of BT tanks and T-26 tanks were the only way to allow the Soviet army to obtain a sufficient number of armored weapons in the future.

"But where do we have so many zis-2 anti-tank guns?" Stalin asked with some worries.

Due to the fall of Ukraine and Leningrad, the Soviet Union's industrial production capacity has now been greatly reduced. The factories near Moscow and Stalingrad have been transferred to Siberia since the winter of 1943, and production was naturally seriously affected in this process.

Among the major industrial bases in the Soviet Union, only factories in Urals and Siberia can still produce normally.

Moreover, the Ural factory was strategically bombed by German me264 long-range bombers since last winter, and production was seriously affected. Not only did the production of the JS-2 tank and the T-34/85 tanks be lower than expected, but even the production of the Zis-2/1943 anti-tank gun was not satisfactory.

"We don't," Zhukov replied, "but the Americans have enough production, and they will provide us with...Their m1 57mm guns are no worse than our zis-2, and in recent operations we have seized shell-piercing shells produced by the British, and I think we and the Americans can imitate this kind of ammunition."

In fact, many of the 57mm guns used by the Soviet army now are m1 types provided by the United States. This type of gun is the American version of the British 6-pound gun. The two are exactly the same except for the gun stand. Therefore, they can also shoot 6-pound shell-piercing shells from Britain. The Soviet technical department has fired seized 6-pound shell-piercing shells with the American m1 type artillery in recent days, and has also shown the powerful lethality of this shell.

So Zhukov immediately thought of putting together the stock BT tanks and T-26 tanks with the US M1 guns to turn them into Su-57 tank destroyers, and at the same time equipped with shell-piercing shells imitated by the United States and the Soviet Union.

However, even if the ammunition factories of the United States and the Soviet Union could not produce shell-out armor-piercing shells for a while, the US m1 anti-tank gun is still a very excellent anti-tank gun. When using high-performance armor-piercing shells, the right angle piercing depth (homogeneous steel plate) at a distance of 5oo meters is still 1oo-112mm (depending on the type of bullet, the penetration depth is also different). Although it cannot penetrate the front of the Tiger and E-5o, it should be able to penetrate the sides of the Tiger and E-5o tanks.

If the Su-57 is used to cooperate with the Red Army infantry equipped with the Red Iron Fist and Bazukka Bazooka, it will probably cause considerable losses to the German Tiger and E-5o in defensive operations.
