Chapter 71 I Can Invest in You

The sun had just climbed up the horizon and had not yet illuminated the dark Latin community. A van turned out of the T-junction and rushed into the narrow community road. With the glaring eyes of countless people, it finally stopped in front of a dilapidated building.
The person in the co-pilot picked up his cell phone and dialed a number, and said loudly, "Boss, the car has arrived, you guys get out."
The phone call seemed to be the opening prelude. The originally quiet building was instantly boiling, and strong men walked out of the building carrying packed boxes.
The last one came out was a Latin man with a dense tattoo on his hands. He shouted, "You all have to pay attention to me, take it lightly, the box is full of works of art!"
"Boss..." A bald black man walked to the back door of the truck, handed the box to another person on it, turned around and pulled out a smile, "You just keep your heart in your stomach. Can this little thing stump us?"
The sun emerged from a small building behind the truck, and thousands of lights shone on the black man's forehead, reflecting a little starlight. The black man smiled and his teeth looked particularly white. "Boss, I didn't expect you to really know the boss of the film company. Tell Mr. Stanton when will we show up in the movie?"
Murphy walked out of the building with a briefcase, "If you want, you can do it next month."
Hearing this, the black man was stunned. Murphy walked to Rose and said, "But without salary and lines, he would be dismissed."
There was a burst of laughter around, and the black man touched his head embarrassedly.
The crowds were crowded and the power was strong. The boxes were moved quickly. The truck slowly started and drove out of the Latin community and headed towards the newly found house Murphy.
It has been almost a week since I returned to Los Angeles. Apart from completely completing the transaction with Miramax Pictures, Murphy spent most of his time looking at the house with the real estate agent introduced to Robert. He had a lot of requirements. The house should be used for office work and serve as his temporary residence. The price should not be too expensive. It took me a while to search for it, and then I just signed a formal lease contract yesterday.
This house is located on the border between Santa Monica and West Hollywood. On the outskirts of the valley area, it is an independent two-story building with an area of about 150 square meters on the first floor. There are two separate bedrooms with bathrooms and a study room on the second floor, which fully meets Murphy's requirements.
Located in a relatively good section of the road, the house is not small in size, and of course the rent is not cheap. Murphy has to pay 5,500 US dollars a month, which is based on Robert's friendly price.
Another thing that can make Murphy like is that the house was originally the office of a small company. The company had just moved to the office building not long ago. Many old office desks, chairs and equipment were left behind. They were originally to be disposed of as scrap, but Murphy bought it at an extremely low price.
The truck passed through West Hollywood, passed through Santa Monica Green Zone, heading west along the palm-filled road, and finally stopped in front of the separate house. Murphy's Ford followed him. He parked the car and greeted Rose, who was driving another car, and directed his men to unload the truck.
Pushing open the iron gate and passing through the stone road less than thirty feet long, Murphy walked up the high steps, took out the key and opened the door, waved to the back, and walked in first.
Through the entrance hall, there is a living room with a large floor area. However, there is no furniture such as sofas in the living room, but it is occupied by more than a dozen office desks with partitions. These are the office equipment collected by Murphy, which looks a bit outdated. However, before moving, he asked the housekeeping company to clean it, which looks neat and orderly.
"Here..."
He walked to the stairs leading to the second floor of the living room and opened a door, which was an underground storage room with an area of almost the same size as the living room.
Except for a few other things that are useful, such as laptops, you may not be able to use them in a short time or even in the future.
These things can be put into the storage room first, and he will slowly tidy them up later.
The people were crowded and the power was strong. The move was completed quickly. Murphy took them to a nearby restaurant. No matter what, as the owner, he had to take care of the food.
Last night, Ross called him back and heard Murphy talk about his preparations for moving, so he brought the group of people over.
In the restaurant, the others sat together to enjoy the barbecue, while Murphy and Rose sat alone in a booth, eating and chatting.
"So that..."
When he heard Murphy talk about his experience at the St. Dennis Film Festival, Ross looked up in surprise, "You invested more than 300,000 dollars in films and sold one million dollars in the end?"
"Yes," Murphy said vaguely, chewing the fragrant barbecue, "It won't take long to see this movie in the theater."
This film is small in size, so Miramax Film will not invest too much resources. After simple publicity, it will be promoted to the theater market and will be introduced into the TV playback and videotape channels later.
"So high profit?" Ross frowned, and the scarred face showed a thoughtful look. "The input-output ratio is amazing."
Murphy swallowed the food in his mouth, "It's just good luck, but the 300,000 dollars may turn into waste paper."
"No, no," Ross put down his knife and fork, raised his finger and shook it. "If it was luck once, so many times combined, it would not be explained by luck."
Since he met Murphy in prison, Rose has been unable to calculate how many unexpected things he has done.
Murphy smiled, suddenly changed the subject and shouted to several people at the other table, "When my video is released, I'll invite you to watch the movie together."
There was another laughter over there. The bald black man was obviously an active person and asked loudly, "Can you find a few beautiful actresses to accompany you to watch? Don't you say there are many beautiful girls in Hollywood?"
Raising one hand, Murphy raised a middle finger high over there.
The laughter sounded again.
Murphy shook his head and turned around, finding that Rose on the opposite side was still thinking.
"Will you continue to make movies?" Ross looked at him and asked, "Is that right?"
"Didn't I tell you?" Murphy picked up the water cup and took a sip, then changed into his previous tone, "My future is in Hollywood."
Instead of teasing and laughing at me, Ross solemnly asked, “Are there any new video plans?”
"I have some ideas." Murphy has always regarded him as his best friend and did not hide it. "I'm still sorting it out and I'll have to wait for a while."
Nodding slightly, Ross said without any warning, "I can invest in your new movie."
