Chapter 604 Do you believe in God

"It's great to see you again, Father Costello."

In the reception room of the villa, Murphy saw the religious figure who had met at the wedding of James Franco and Lily Collins.

Gal Gadot also greeted Father Marquez Costello quite politely and sent someone tea.

Father Marquez Costello sat on the sofa next to Murphy and said with a smile, "I came to Beverly Hills this morning to meet an old friend. I didn't expect that he had something to do and happened to pass by your house. I remembered the pleasant meeting in the Caribbean Sea, so I came to see you."

"This is our honor." Murphy exchanged a look with Gal Gadot without a trace.

Those who believe in piously may believe this kind of nonsense, but they just listen to it. Father Marquez Costello is the Catholic archbishop in Southern California. He has busy religious affairs. It is said that as soon as his term of office arrives, he will likely return to the Vatican and be promoted to Cardinal. How can he have the time to pass by Wave Manor?

"I walked all the way through the door of the manor..." Father Marquez Costello always showed a warm smile, "I saw no signs related to religion."

"Ah?" Murphy thought for a moment and said, "The manor was invited by an outside company to decorate it, maybe they ignored it."

In fact, the decoration of the Wave Manor was completely done according to Gal Gadot's meaning. Gal Gadot believes in Judaism, but she knew that Murphy did not believe in illusory things such as religion at all, so she did not have any facilities or decorations related to Judaism in the manor.

Father Marquez Costello's lips curled up slightly and said, "Mr. Stanton, if this residence can be bathed in the Lord..."

"Ahem!" Gal Gadot suddenly let out a cough and continued, "Sorry, I may have caught a cold recently."

Murphy remained silent, looking at the tea cup on the tea table next to Father Marquez Costello's sofa, and made a gesture of invitation, "Father, this is the best Longjing tea imported from the other side of the Pacific Ocean. It is said that the annual output does not even have ten pounds. I commissioned a lot of connections to buy it."

After hearing Murphy say this, Father Marquez Costello had to pick up the teacup, take a sip, and nodded in praise, "It's really good tea."

"It's a pity that I can buy too few." Murphy deliberately talked about the wrong topic, "If the priest is interested, he can take some back and drink it slowly."

Father Marquez Costello quickly raised his hand and shook it, "I'm more used to drinking black tea."

As he spoke, his brows frowned slightly. Just like when he met before, the director opposite him obviously had no interest in talking about religious beliefs, and he didn't seem to be very interested in believing in Catholicism.

But he didn't come here for religious belief.

He picked up the teacup and took a sip. Father Marquez Costello asked tentatively, "I heard that Mr. Stanton's new film is about to be released?"

"Yes." Murphy immediately raised his vigilance, "it will be previewed in a few theaters in Los Angeles and New York starting next month."

Father Marquez Costello nodded slightly, "I heard from several friends in Hollywood recently that there is anything about Catholicism in your video?"

Although the film has not been fully produced and has not been seen by outsiders, it is impossible to keep it completely confidential, not to mention that the crew filmed the outdoor scene in an abandoned Catholic church at that time.

Murphy believed that Father Marquez Costello might have received some uncertain or sensible news and wanted to come and call the front stand, otherwise he would not have been so polite.

“There is a part of the content of Catholics in downtown Los Angeles in the 1980s.” Murphy said the truth, “There is not much content, and the theme of the film is not religion, but crime.”

Hearing these words, Father Marquez Costello glanced at Murphy, feeling that Murphy should be telling the truth, and his smile became even warmer. "Mr. Stanton, if you shoot subjects related to Catholicism in the future, you can say hello to the church, and we will do our best to help you."

"Oh?" Murphy seemed to be unbelievable.

Father Marquez Costello said again, "We are also happy to work with a great director like you."

Murphy nodded, "If I shoot related subjects again, I will notify the priest."

"I will do my best." Father Marquez Costello felt relieved and stood up to say goodbye,"

Oh, I'll go to my old friend's place to check it out, he should be back."

"Then I won't keep it." Murphy didn't say any hypocritical and polite words.

He also stood up and walked out of the villa with Father Marquez Costello with Gal Gadot. No matter what, this was a guest, and they still had basic etiquette.

As for Father Marquez Costello's words of greeting the Catholic Church, he naturally threw it aside. Even if he was shooting subjects about such religions, he would not bother these people. To say hello to them, wouldn't he add a pair of big scissors to his head?

When he arrived at the door of the villa, Father Marquez Costello's driver had already driven the car. He walked out of the villa and was about to get in, but suddenly stopped.

"What's wrong?"

Seeing Father Marquez Costello stop, Gal Gadot, who was following Murphy, walked to him, stopped, frowned slightly, and said in a low voice, "Is there anything he has to do?"

Murphy shook his head, "Who knows."

After all, Father Marquez Costello is the archbishop of the region. If he doesn't leave, Murphy, as the master, can't he be blown out, right?

"Mr. Stanton." Father Marquez Costello turned around and looked at Murphy and asked, "Do you believe in heaven?"

Although he didn't know what the intention of Father Marquez Costello asked, Murphy still told the truth, "I don't believe in heaven."

Father Marquez Costello was stunned for a moment and asked, "Why?"

"Because my life is a hundred times better than heaven." Murphy looked to the side, "For me, where there is Gale is heaven."

He spread his hands, "I am living in a real paradise now, why should I believe in a paradise of nothingness?"

Gal Gadot quietly stretched out his right hand and held Murphy's left hand hard.

With his eyes slightly moved, Father Marquez Costello glanced at Gal Gadot, and seemed unable to believe that a Hollywood director would be so obsessed with a woman.

Father Marquez Costello paused and asked, "Do you believe in God?"

"It's useless to believe in God or not..." Murphy said without any concealment, "because God never believed us."

After hearing what Murphy said, Father Marquez Costello gradually understood something and knew that he wanted to develop this Hollywood director to become a Catholic believer.

This is simply a typical atheist.

Father Marquez Costello stopped stopping and turned around and, under the sight of Murphy and Gal Gadot, the car bypassed the fountain and drove out of the Wave Manor along the road opposite the villa.

"He seemed to have heard something." Gal Gadot said, "I just don't know the specific content."

"Don't worry about him." Murphy knew that after the film was released, it would definitely attract a lot of criticism like the original "Child Abuse Suspicion", and the criticism and the voice of the Catholic Church may be even louder. After all, his fame and status are much greater than that of John Patrick Stanley. He took the lead in turning back to the villa and said to Gal Gadot, who followed up, "Hollywood has the freedom to make movies, which is the most basic rule in the circle. If the voice of the Catholic Church is too loud, it will be good for me."

Are there few very controversial films in Hollywood? There are not one or two films about the Catholic scandal. If the Catholic Church really attacks him, he will definitely become the target of support from the entire Hollywood circle.

This is America, California, not European countries such as the Northeastern United States and Italy.

After returning to the room to change his clothes, Murphy and Gal Gadot took a bus to Fox Building and Stanton Studio respectively. Murphy had handed over the daily affairs of Stanton Studio to Gal Gadot, so that he could spend most of his energy on filming and production of the movie.

If a director is energetic for too many things, it will definitely affect the quality of his works.

Murphy mainly deals with the dubbing synthesis work. After all the dialogues and selected music are completed, the sound effects editors will match the film with various sound effects. At this point, all the factors of the sound part of "Diego Ross" have been prepared. There is also a process behind it, which is to add the front and back subtitles to the film.

After completing these, Murphy made two final edited versions of the film, one was a digital copy for later DVD suppression, online platform on-demand downloads, TV broadcasts, etc.; the other was a film copy. After this copy was handed to the 20th Century Fox, it was immediately sent to the printing factory to prepare for printing the copy for cinema screening.

By Sunday night, all the post-production of the film "Diego Ross" was completed, and Murphy completed the planned work on time. Although the process was a bit rush and the pressure was relatively high, he finally did not miss the original pre-show in December.

Before preview, the film will be sent to MPAA for rating. There is basically no problem with this film being rated as R-rated. Twentieth Century Fox itself also has enough influence within MPAA, and the overall scale of the film is not particularly large, not as good as Murphy's previous filming of "Wolf of Wall Street".

In this way, Murphy's remaining is to cooperate with Twentieth Century Fox to promote the film, and then wait for previews before Christmas.
