Chapter 1 A chance encounter on the plane (Part 1)

Starting from China and want to go to a country like Somalia with war-torn pirates, there are probably only three ways to choose from.

The first method is the easiest. You can board the plane without even applying for a visa. Fly to Yemen, which is only one line away from Somalia. After arriving at Sana'a, the capital airport of Yemen, you can take a long-distance bus to Elmukara, then transfer to the "African Express" airline and fly to Bosasso, a harbor city where the situation is relatively stable.[]

It’s just a pity that Yemen is now in a quagmire and cannot extricate itself, so it simply closed all visa channels, because for a long time, this road entering Somalia was unpassable.

The second method is to fly to Djibouti on the west coast of the Gulf of Aden in northeastern Africa, and then fly to Bosasso.

This route carefully avoided the most severe war in Somalia and was the safest path so far. For its own safety, most people who have to enter Somalia for various reasons will choose the second route, so that the air ticket price will fly upward like China's inflation. It is only a few hundred kilometers from Jibban to Bosasso, and it only takes an hour to take a plane, but the ticket price is more than 2,000 US dollars. It can be said that it has been shattered to my grandma's house. Even so, it is still hard to get a ticket.

The third route requires flying to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, and then transfer from Nairobi to Mogadishu, the southern city of Somalia. The city of Mogadishu is still in war. Foreigners may be shot or kidnapped by terrorists once they leave the airport. If they do not hire a team of bodyguards with live ammunition, they often cannot move in this city. However, for war correspondents who come specifically for danger and pirates, the third route is undoubtedly their best choice.

The travel plan that Sikong Bowen made for herself was quite crazy. She would enter Mogadiga with Shi Shaoying, then take a car or a boat along the Indian Ocean coast, and advance northward until they entered Karakat, the three major pirate towns in Somalia, and then find ways to establish a relatively friendly relationship with the pirates there. After obtaining their consent, take some precious real-life photos. If a pirate leader can find some little-known secrets from the other party, her journey will be successful and triumphant. But if the life is against Tai Sui, the pirates will turn against each other and raise the weapons in their hands, it will rain and mother will get married. Sikong Bowen will try to make himself die a little more calmly.

"Shi Shaoying, if both of us are in Somalia, I will owe you a life. I will be your wife to pay off the debt in the next life." Even Sikong Bowen himself couldn't tell whether she was joking or making a serious promise to Shi Shaoying: "Even if you are a mistress for the rest of your life."

With Sikong Bowen's "promise", the two of them took a plane that crossed the boundless Indian Ocean and entered the equator above North Africa. They opened the sun visor and looked down from a height of several thousand meters from the ground through the string window. They could be clearly seen with the naked eye. A shocking crack, like a crack caused by a tomahawk chop, spread across the entire continent. That is the "East Africa Rift Valley" that is world-famous, more than 200 kilometers wide, two thousand meters deep, and one-sixth of the circumference of the earth!

This rift caused by strong crust movement 30 million years ago is one of the birthplaces of the oldest human civilization. As early as 3.5 million years ago, humans who could walk upright appeared, and it was a land with brilliant ancient civilizations. The first transit station of Shi Shaoying and his friends on this trip, Kenya, was located next to this East Africa Rift Valley full of magical texture.

As the only urban-level primitive ecological park in the world, Kenya's capital Nairobi receives more than 2 million tourists every year. It already has all the characteristics of a modern city. The capital airport is magnificently built. On the booth in the lounge area, luxury cars such as Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, Porsches fully display their delicate assembly lines under the light. No matter what the situation is facing, the staff at the airport smile before speaking, revealing their white teeth that they can shoot toothpaste advertisements, and at the same time, they undoubtedly show the quality of a world tourist city.

The tour guide waved the little red flag in his hand and gathered all the members of the tour group together. He has begun to introduce the bustling and beautiful city in front of the tour group members: "Nairobi is located on the plateau in the south-central and southern Kenya territory. It has a population of two million. It is the most prosperous metropolis in East Africa. In the local language, 'Nairobi' means cold water. After more than ten years of development, this beautiful city with an average annual temperature of only 17 degrees Celsius has developed into a world-famous summer resort. The most distinctive thing is that the surrounding area of this modern city still retains a large area of primeval forests, making it the only urban-level safari in the world."

Shi Shaoying and Sikong Bowen, who walked out of the airport, listened to the tour guide's explanation and smiled at each other, and walked towards the hotel they booked in advance through the Internet.

Due to the war, the flight from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, to Mogadishu, Somalia, only once a week. Shi Shaoying and Sikong Bowen stayed in Nairobi for four days before finally boarding a dilapidated Douglas passenger plane on a pretty sunny weekend.

According to Shi Shaoying's judgment, this aircraft was visually measured to be 32 meters long, with a wingspan of 35 meters and a height of nearly nine meters. The four propeller engines were all erected outside, which was obviously domineering. Because it was in service for too long and was not well maintained, the rusty game on the fuselage may be the legendary McDonald DC-6 passenger aircraft!

The reason why Shi Shaoying recognized this passenger plane was because the original design of the DC-6 was for military purposes. After the end of World War II, Douglas changed it to civil aviation transportation.

The most glorious years of this kind of aircraft that once shone brightly during World War II, dropping a large number of paratroopers to enemy positions were from 1946 to 1958. However, as early as thirty years ago, the company was reorganized into "McDoom" due to internal funding issues and officially announced the suspension of production across the board.

In other words, this passenger plane that appeared in front of them has a long history of at least thirty years!

Looking at the outer cabin of the plane, a piece of patent leather shaking in the wind, and the yellow-brown rust that spread throughout the fuselage, when I thought of flying to a height of thousands of meters without a parachute, even a bold figure like Shi Shaoying was shocked.

As soon as he walked onto the ladder of the passenger plane, a "kick" came from the feet of Shi Shaoying. "kick" seemed to be overwhelmed with metal moans. Fortunately, Shi Shaoying was so shocked that he was very skilled. He stretched out his hands to hold the escalator guardrail, and pushed it hard to cross the last few steps, and flew directly into the cabin with a beautiful movement like a lacquer swallow throwing into the forest.

As Shi Shaoying, a man weighing more than 100 pounds flew down, Shi Shaoying could clearly feel that the giant was obviously sinking and sank. Then there was a "slam" sound in the cabin, and a back of an aviation chair that looked as stable as Mount Tai actually lay down directly backwards.

Everyone's eyes fell on Shi Shaoying. Looking at the collapsed aviation chair back, Shi Shaoying raised his hands and shouted: "It's not my business, I haven't touched it."

Sikong Bowen, who was used to storms, was relatively calm. She passed Shi Shaoying quietly and walked to the last row at the rear of the plane. The aviation chairs here are close to the cabin. Even if they are disrepaired, it is impossible for the chair back to collapse. She sat on it in a big way, and enjoyed the treatment of a sleeper with the price of a soft seat.

Seeing Shi Shaoying standing there stupidly, the corner of her mouth raised slightly, "National-level airlines have long banned Somalia, and they dare to direct planes to drill into the war-torn areas of Somalia, are private small airlines that usually lack passenger sources and can only seek wealth and danger. Think about it, in our China, we have only one bus a day, and they are essentially no different."

Shi Shaoying couldn't help but feel silent. The old antique aircraft in front of him was similar to those buses that had already passed the scrapping period but were still active among the mountains of China. The problem is that if the car broke down halfway, everyone can still get off and wait for the next day's car. If he really didn't want to wait, he could also drive the "11th" to walk home. If the plane broke in mid-air, even if Shi Shaoying had three heads and six arms, he would not be able to take Sikong Bowen to change the plane halfway, or simply fly to the destination with his arms open, right?!

The back of the aviation chair can be pushed down, and the seat belt has certainly disappeared in the long river of history. However, Sikong Bowen is definitely an expert who has experienced many battles. Seeing her smilingly fixing herself on a chair with a mountain rope, Shi Shaoying gave Sikong Bowen a thumbs up in conscience: "High, it's really high."

Only three of the four engines of the plane can operate normally, but it is not bad, at least three, not one. The faster the long propeller blades, the faster it makes, making a rumbling roar. At this time, Sikong Bowen had already taken out an mp3 and stuffed his ears into her ears. While listening to the song, she was chewing gum in her mouth. It is said that this can protect her ears.

Driven by three engines, the Douglas airliner roared and sprinted on the runway. Finally, the Douglas airliner actually flew up!

Shi Shaoying sat in the last row of the plane by the window, allowing Sikong Bowen to regard his thighs as the most comfortable pillow. He just widened his eyes and stared at the outside of the window. It was not that he liked to appreciate the unchanging scenery outside. If the plane really flew over the sea and suddenly lost control and fell head-on, he could at least know where the island closest to the place where the plane crashed was.
