Chapter 231. Rare Books

Lin Yi was in a daze, not knowing what rare books were hidden in this pile of broken books, so that he could smell such a strong fragrance of books.

Li Weimin was a pity to clean up some thread-bound books that were damaged by moisture. For him, although these thread-bound books were old enough, most of them were traditional Chinese and they were not smooth to read. If it was really as Lin Yi said, it would be good to sell them for a high price, but the broken books in front of him would probably be thrown to the scrap station and no one wanted them.

The quality determines the price of the collection.

Unless it is a rare treasure in the Song and Yuan dynasties, otherwise such a broken book is really not worth much.

Seeing that Li Weimin didn't pay attention to him, Lin Yi took a deep breath, followed the strong fragrance of books and began to move a lot of thread-bound books away.

Book after book.

This is not, nor that one.

No, not yet.

Lin Yi moved those thread-bound books one by one. Although they were already very worn, Lin Yi was still careful when moving, trying not to let them "injure them" as much as possible. Because these ancient books looked ragged, they could still be repaired and repaired.

You should know that most thread-bound books are folded into "tube paper" with cotton paper or other paper and then bound. Therefore, when we look at thread-bound books, we will find that each page of thread-bound books can actually be separated to form a tube. If you know how to repair ancient books, you can disassemble the thread-bound books, and then repair those tattered or defective pages with the techniques of "mounting" and "repairing". Repaired thread-bound books are commonly known as the "gold-inlaid jade" version.

In fact, "ancient book restoration" is a very advanced technical task. Often, those very powerful ancient book restoration experts can achieve "a superb skillful rejuvenation" and repair an ancient book, from page decomposition to water spray flattening, hole repair, slipping, staple railings, placing paper twists, line lines and other traditional binding and repair techniques can blind you.

As far as Lin Yi knows, the most famous "master of ancient books restoration" in China is a great man named Dai Mingju of the Shenyang Museum.

This man learned from his father's skills, had excellent mounting skills, and was exquisite and exquisite. No matter how damaged ancient calligraphy and painting were, he immediately became as intact as before after his wonderful hands. His most famous restoration occurred in 1985.

It is said that in 1985, Shenyang discovered the Wudi Jingguang Relic Tower in Tawan, and discovered the "Sutra of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's Original Vow" in the underground palace.

The Wuque Jingguang Relic Tower of Tawan was a building in the Liao Dynasty, but this Buddhist scripture was published in the Ming Dynasty and placed on the altar of the underground palace. This is the earliest ancient book unearthed so far in Shenyang. It is divided into three volumes, middle and lower, with more than 400 pages. When it was unearthed, it was placed on the altar of the underground palace and had been sleeping underground for more than 350 years. Due to the moisture and dirt underground, the covers were corroded, the edges of the book were seriously damaged, the pages were stuck, and the paper was brittle and slag. If it was not repaired immediately, the possibility of this cultural relic being retained would be slim.

In order to show this Buddhist treasure to China and the foreign countries, the Shenyang Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau prepared to hold an exhibition at the Wuque Jingguang Relic Tower. However, as damaged as this, how can we meet the world? After several considerations, we finally decided to repair the "Sutra of the Original Vow of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva" and asked Dai Mingju to come and remedy it.

After decades, Dai Mingju successfully restored nearly a thousand paintings in the collection of the Palace Museum in Shenyang, first and second grades of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. He was already a famous artist in the restoration and mounting of ancient calligraphy and paintings in the country.

Dai Mingju saw the set of Buddhist scriptures, and he was embarrassed. The book was touched with his hand, and the paper turned into powder. The cover was originally decorated with very expensive kesi, but now he could not see the original pattern. The decorative paper box under the kesi became a pool of paper mud. In the past restoration, he did not see the damage to this extent.

When Dai Mingju returned home, he closed his eyes, recalled the appearance of the book one by one, and recalled one secret technique after another that his father had secretly told him during his lifetime.

Just thinking about it and thinking about it.

A master of skill and courage.

First, he decided to immediately soak the book cover, rinse, remove dirt, and then reframe it.

But what should I do if the pages of the book are too difficult, and each page is glued together and becomes a piece of paper.

The experienced Dai Mingju picked up the needle cone and carefully picked up the paper balls one by one, then held his breath, took them down with small tweezers, and placed them on a piece of paper backing. After putting them down every page, he breathed a sigh of relief. Because in this process, the fragile books were not broken. This was half the success. At this time, he was equivalent to holding the "bull's nose" that repaired this set of ancient Buddhist scriptures. Not only did it not run away, it would follow every step in the next steps.

The restoration and mounting master dipped a small brush into slurry water, wet the loose pages bit by bit, and then cleverly put a layer of rice paper behind him. He found that a few pages had fallen off, so he quickly picked up them up and glued them together one by one. After doing all this, he lined a few layers of rice paper to absorb water. Finally, he removed the front line paper and dried it in the shade to level it.

The entire repair process took three months. During this period, Dai Mingju stayed behind closed doors and used all the skills he had given to him by his father.

In September 1985, the "Sutra of the Original Vow of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva" was fully presented to the world. What people saw was a set of antique "new Buddhist scriptures", and the cultural relics circles at home and abroad exclaimed "miracle". After the restoration, this cultural relics was rated as a national first-class cultural relic.

Therefore, for many precious ancient books, if they are broken, they may not lose their value. They must be thrown away. As long as they meet someone who is interested, they can be repaired well and rejuvenated.

Of course, for Lin Yi, Lin Yi has a secret skill, which is to use his spiritual energy to repair and regeneration of ancient books. He has repaired the "Tea Sutra" and "Buddhist Sutra" before, and the effect is quite good. But for Lin Yi, it is also very energy-consuming and spiritual energy. Although he can occasionally use the spiritual energy of ancient books to nourish the spiritual energy during the restoration, there are not many rare books like this after all.

Therefore, Lin Yi did not intend to use his precious spiritual energy to collectively repair them - in other words, even if he had the will, he could not do it. After all, seven or eight thousand books, such a large amount of tiredness could make him exhausted to death.

So Lin Yi’s plan is very simple, which is to find rare ancient books, lonely ancient books that are valuable in these online books, or those he likes very much, and then use his own superpowers to repair them.

Lin Yi's plan is perfect, so now it depends on what kind of treasures are worth his attack in this pile of rags.

...

After finally moving the scattered, off-lined, and broken paper-page thread-bound books away, Lin Yi saw at a glance that there seemed to be a large-broken book underneath - the broken book.

The moment the book was revealed, Lin Yi immediately smelled an extraordinary fragrance of books, and various scenes of ancient craftsmen carrying activities were transformed in front of him.

A man was wearing cow shorts and stood naked on the large jar, sweating profusely dyeing cloth.

A woman was wearing a brocade dress and a headdress. She was squatting on a small stool, rolling up her sleeves and polishing her jade.

An old lady was combed in her ancient bun and wearing her ancient outfit, and was sitting in front of a spinning wheel slowly weaving cloth.

A group of black-faced men shouted horns and milled in the valley, smelted iron in the factory, watered the fields, and brewed wine in the winery...

Lens conversion---

A large group of people in ancient costumes crowded on an arch bridge, all looking up at the sky, and saw a circular object flying out of the sky, floating in the air, like the sun, shining everywhere.

Then a line of text appeared in Lin Yi's mind: In Jiayou, there is a very large pearl in Yangzhou, which is often seen in the sky. First, it came out of the pond in Tianchang County, and then turned into the Kishang Lake... As the day shone, it was shining in the distance, but the sky was red like wildfire. It suddenly went away, and it was walking like flying, floating in the waves..."

...

Everything was so full of vitality and weird that these things suddenly appeared in Lin Yi's mind, as if they had been stored for a long time, and now they only emerged.

"Jiayou, isn't it the reign of the Song Dynasty? Then this book is..." Lin Yi took the book up without hesitation, and was stunned after reading it. This ancient book is the famous - "Dream Xi Bi Tan"!
