Prologue: The Worst Ending (Two)(1/2)
In just three short sentences, Jansen Connellis revealed too much information.
Moreover, when the former Minister spoke, there was a very wonderful smile on his face, which Flitz had never seen before.
So, Flitz decided to start with the most core issue.
"May I ask, are you recruiting me?" Flitz asked straightforwardly: "Sir."
"no."
Conelis put away his smile, sat back on the armchair belonging to the minister, bent down slightly and opened the drawer at the bottom of the table, answering in a natural tone:
"When I was in pre-school, the teacher asked you if you wanted to go to school, and that was recruiting you. Now, I will only order you. When I give orders, you either obey the orders or go to military court."
Flitz was silent.
“However, I prefer to volunteer.”
Conelis took out a red sandalwood box from under the desk, put his hand on the box buckle, and looked at the former student, with a very oppressive look:
“So, I will give you a question in particular.
"Answer me - Suppose there is a young officer who participates in the revolution with passion, but is betrayed and despised by the motherland after the victory of the revolution. Will he want to bury himself in the war history? Or do he want to shine for the motherland again?
"Think carefully about my questions and give a careful answer. Remember, there is only one chance to submit an answer."
"I also have a question, sir." Flitz was unmoved and turned his back: "Can you please answer me first and then I will answer yours?"
"A question?" Cornelis asked.
He pulled open the snap and lifted the lid of the sandalwood box. Inside the box, an old pipe lay quietly on the velvet lining.
Conelis took out a box of tobacco from another drawer, and said, "If you have any questions, let's ask together."
Flitz sorted out his thoughts and decided to confirm the recent rumor: "You just mentioned the 'Southern Front Army', which means that the military headquarters has really decided to use the Jinliu River as the boundary to send a strategic corps to South Paratu and North Paratu?"
"That's right." Conelis meticulously pressed the tobacco into his pipe: "The names have been given, [Western Front] and [Southern Front], one is responsible for destroying the Hongchuan rebels, and the other strangling the Xinkendi Counter-Party Party."
"Fight on both sides?" Flitz frowned.
Hearing the words of the former student, a string of ridiculous sarcasm came from Jansen Conelis's throat, a horrible dry laughter.
He took the lampstand, removed the lampshade, lit the pipe, leaned against the armchair, picked up his arms, took a sip, then turned to look at the former student, his cold and majestic facial features flickered under the light:
"Who told you that forming two frontal armies at the same time means fighting on both sides?"
Confusion appeared on Flitz's face: "I... don't quite understand..."
Conelis snorted softly: "Major, you know that fighting on both sides is a taboo in military strategists, so I don't know? Do the other generals know? And those old guys, so they don't know?"
"You mean..." Flitz slowed down his speech as much as possible, leaving himself time to think: "Is there a front army abandoned his son?"
"Yes." Conelis frowned, and suddenly changed into a tempting tone, but his eyes were full of ridicule: "Use your intelligence analysis skills, Major, tell me, which army is abandoned?"
Flitz discovered that the former Minister was a very impatient person.
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, Conelis took out an ashtray from a drawer, threw it onto the desk, carefully knocked off the ash, and carefully took the pipe back into the sandalwood box.
Then, Conelis opened another drawer without stopping, took out a roll from a dozen paper rolls, flattened it, and pressed it with a sandalwood box and a crystal ashtray - it was a map of two mountains and narrow lands.
Seeing that the minister accurately took out various objects from different drawers, Flitz couldn't help but wonder what else was there in the carved desk in front of him?
The former minister gave a guide on the map: "This is the land in front of the mountain, this is the North Paratu, this is the South Paratu..."
In fact, Flitz can understand it without the other party's guidance.
He carefully observed the map in front of him - it was not big in size, but it was very delicate. It not only painted the main mountains, rivers, urban roads in the two mountains and narrow areas, but also marked the location of many ruins and ancient battlefields.
It seems that the map makers have done their best to make the map information more accurate and rich.
But Flitz still saw a lot of mistakes at a glance: cities that are not in the correct location, coastlines that do not exist, and the proportions between Paratu and the Union Province are not correct. The Union Province has been painted larger, and Paratu has been painted smaller.
Considering the material and color of the map, this is obviously a very old map and is outdated.
"Come on, student, listen."
Cornelis could not refuse to ask Flitz to answer:
"I won't ask you what the disadvantages of the Southern Front are and what the advantages of the Western Front are. This is self-evident nonsense - Jinliujiang is just there, and only the blind and idiots can't see it.
"What I want to ask you is - what are the disadvantages of the Western Front? What are the advantages of the Southern Front?
"Come on, answer me."
The former Minister's question was too jumpy and it took Flitz a little while to keep up.
However, it only took a little while, and he spoke quickly. He was a little hesitant at first, but the more he spoke, the more he became smoother:
"The disadvantage of the Western Front is... Although the border between the mountain and North Paratu is almost no danger to defend, the deeper the inside of North Paratu, the higher the terrain, the more inconvenient the transportation will be. The more forward it will be, the more difficult it will be to replenish...
"The advantage of the Southern Front is that although the Jinliu River is a geographical barrier, it is also a good waterway. As the capital of Paratu, I don't know much about its port..."
"The Kings Fort is the wool distribution center of Paratu." Connelis explained coldly: "The water level is deep, there are many berths, and the facilities are all. Continue."

"As for the question itself, you have answered it correctly." Conelis commented mercilessly: "But you only see the first floor, not the second floor."
His fingers crossed the Jinliu River on the map and pointed out the former student: "The Jinliu River does not only have a port on the south bank, but the Western Front Army can also use the Jinliu River to replenish supplies."
Flitz opposed: "But Hongchuan, Ishimori, Trench Fort... the enemy's heartland is located in the inland and mountainous areas."
"Take the water route first, then the land route. You can first capture the coastal towns and then go deep into the inland of North Paratu." Conelis clicked the bottom left of the map: "What's more, the heart of the enemy of the Southern Front is also inland."
Flitz fell into deep thought. After thinking it through, he nodded and admitted his "mistake".
Conelis snorted lightly, this time he seemed to be satisfied.
He rarely explained patiently: "All your presumptions are based on one premise, that is, 'The Jinliu River waterway can be used for us, and only for us'."
Flitz was stunned at first, then trembled with a terrifying sensation: "You mean, the Venetta people will..."
"Are you a Venetta?" Conelis glared.
"I..." Flitz didn't understand what the former minister wanted to say: "No."
"Am I?"
“Not it.”
"How do you know, how do I know, what the Venettas are going to do?"
Cornelis stared at Flitz, his eyes lit up, and his tone became strangely stern:
“But I can tell you, students.
“If you blindly believe that the enemy will not make some action and make your plan based on that.
"Then one day, you will take you and your subordinates together into the endless disaster."
Flitz was silent for a moment, stood up, bowed and bowed: "I'm sure to be taught."
Conelis sneered: "With your ears, you may not be relieved if you walk a hundred times; if you walk your left chest, you can go to your heart in one go. Unfortunately, the latter will generally not have a second chance."
"Forget it, sit down." Conelis waved his hand and returned to the topic: "So, now you understand why although two fronts have been formed, they are not fighting on both sides?"
"I understand." Flitz quickly replied: "If the possibility of Veneta joining the war is taken into consideration, only the strategic goals of the Western Front are possible."
"The general strategy set by the Army Headquarters is called 'attack and defense of the west and south'."
Jansen Connellis introduced the students seriously:
"The Western Front can be said to be 'strong and powerful, and there are many heroes'.
“[Pure],[Political], the two main forces of the National Guard, put them in together.
"It seems that it is not enough, and he draws backbones from the Goddess of Victory and the River of Running to strengthen them to [Holy] and [Justice], and then stuffs [Holy] and [Justice] into them.
"Guns, armor, cannons, and ammunition can be given with great force.
"Youth, middle-aged, old-fashioned, anyone who wants to jump up is snatching his head and squeezes in.
"There are also the Montas and the Vanes, who were also ordered by the military headquarters to send troops to assist in the war."
"North Paratu." Connelis concluded: "The military is bound to win."
"Since [purity], [steadfast], [holy], and [just] have all been incorporated into the Western Front." Flitz suddenly frowned: "Where can there be troops for the Southern Front?"
"Why didn't it?" Jansen Conelist paused, and a sarcastic smile climbed to the corner of his mouth: "Fifth National Guard Corps, [tolerance]; Sixth National Guard Corps, [to be cautious]; Seventh League, [tolerant]; Eighth League, [to temperance]."
Even though Flitz had already experienced the training of the War History Department, he was still stunned: "Eighth Legion? Eight Legion?"
His speech became as fast as the rats burned by the butt: "When did the National Guard expand from four legions to eight legions? Tolerate, cautious, tough, restrained... I haven't heard anyone say it?!"
"Have you heard of it?" Conelis smiled with an unknown smile: "Then you heard of it now."
"Where are so many soldiers in front of the mountain!"
"Recruitment, recruitment, pulling, and pitting." Cornelis replied casually: "There are also some municipal guards... Anyway, there are no need to really fill the organization."
Flitz was a little anxious: "This... what kind of battle can this be fought?!"
"Very good, now you know the truth, Major." Conelis suddenly put away his cynical and sarcastic attitude and said solemnly: "The Southern Front can't fight at all!
"It is said that one front army is responsible for eliminating the Hongchuan military government, and the other front army is responsible for reclaiming the new land.
