Chapter 93 Finale (Part 1)(1/3)

The South Highland Fortress, which once belonged to the Paratus, is now quiet.

The man was very good at learning, not lighting the lights or raising fires, so that the attackers could not see the arrangements on the walls. However, they arranged the fires in the open space outside the trench, making it impossible for them to hide.

The Palathus must regain the Southern Highlands, and the Huds knew this too.

Under the night, the dark tide surging.

A meteor dragged its long trail through the air and disappeared in an instant.

"Kill!" A man's roar in despair came from somewhere.

The snare drum rumbled, and the trumpet stinged everyone's eardrums.

A group of humans leaped out of the darkness, carrying a simple wooden ladder, and roared towards the fortress: "Uukhai!"

The red light of the North Highland Fortress flashed, and fragmented gunshots came.

However, the range of the musket is not enough to attack from the northern highlands to the southern highlands, and the troops there can only give friendly forces a strong momentum.

Among the deafening shouts and drums, the fortress was like a wild beast lying dormant in the shadows, still quietly.

The moment the Palatus crossed the fire, the beast stretched out its fangs.

A series of vibrations of bowstrings sounded on the wall, and the Paratus who rushed in the front were shot down one after another.

The fire was quickly put out, and everyone in the dark turned into a blurred shadow.

The Palatu soldier with a shaved hair and a red belt tied with his left arm crossed his comrade's body and rushed towards the trench with shouts.

The battle had begun, but Winters remained silent.

He lay on the slope, tilting his head to listen to the movement of the battle in another place.

Gendarmerie and flag bearer Charles Heinrich was guarding behind Winters, followed by two other soldiers from the Centenarians, and then Andre and Mason's troops.

The Jeska Brigade ambushed two hundred meters away from the southeast corner of the fortress, and further forward will be exposed.

According to the original plan, the death row camp took the lead in feinting the northeast corner of the fortress.

It was only after the Barbarian's attention was attracted to him that it was the turn of Jieshika's brigade to start.

The shouts of killing gradually disappeared - this is normal.

Because once you start a face-to-face fight, everyone grits their teeth and purses their lips, and even the shortest scolding can't be heard.

Replacing the shouting of killing is the dull and screaming of a blunt weapon hitting the human body.

Winters gently rubs the hilt with his thumb, and he still gets nervous, excited, and scared, but he has learned to be patient.

Except for the Musketeer, everyone under his command had replaced one-handed swords and shields, wearing all the armor they could find.

The super long spear is useless in night battles, and the same is true for the long spear.

Lieutenant Colonel Jeska bent over and walked up from behind.

Winters turned around and gave a small salute.

The lieutenant colonel patted Winters on the shoulder and asked in a low voice: "Did you see where the cannon is?"

"No...it's okay, it's there anyway."

Nominally, the raid on the South Highland Fort was commanded by Colonel Laslow.

However, Colonel Laslow is currently basically a walking corpse, so the combat plan was actually formulated by Lieutenant Colonel Jeska and Lieutenant Colonel Robert.

The two lieutenant colonels agreed that occupying the South Highland Fortress was an impossible task.

If you occupy it tonight, the Hedes will be able to take it away tomorrow. The troops at hand alone cannot fight for the war of attrition.

But we can change our thinking: the threat of the fortress in the South Highlands is not the fortress, but the cannons on the high ground.

After capturing the fortress, the white lion immediately pushed the cannon to the high ground and crossed the Palatou camp to bombard the "floating bridge".

Just a test shot before dusk, two floating boxes were sunk. This was an unbearable threat for the Paratus.

But on the other hand, as long as the cannon can be destroyed, it doesn't matter even if the highland fortress is given to the barbarians.

What the Palatus needs most now is time. As long as you can buy another two days, the bridge can be built across the river.

The front bridge pile is less than fifty meters away from the east coast, and it is really just a little bit away.

Someone waved a torch under the hillside, but disappeared in the blink of an eye.

This was a sign of agreement, and Lieutenant Colonel Winters and Lieutenant Colonel Jeska had a last look at each other.

"Go!" Winters ordered softly.

He took off his shield, lowered his body as much as possible, and approached the trench.

Shire carried five spare weapons on his back, Heinrich rolled up the military flag, and the two followed closely behind Winters.

Winters' actions were a silent signal, and his warriors came out of the hidden place.

Unlike the death row camp, the Montagne team does not whistle, beats drums, or shouts to kill, but just lowers their bodies and walks quickly.

More than a hundred infantrymen pulled into two loose straight lines on the hillside, and their footsteps were rustling.

The wall was still silent.

The quieter it was, the more nervous Winters became.

It was less than ten meters away from the fire, and now it could not even hide its body.

"Wet blanket!" Winters whispered, reaching out without looking back.

Shire unfolded the wet blanket, ignored Winters' request, and stepped forward to extinguish the fire.

There was a sound of sore teeth arching from the wall.

"Rise the shield!" Winters rushed over and pulled Charles behind him, and immediately shouted with amplification technique: "Be careful of the bow and arrow!"

Before he finished speaking, the arrows came over like rain.

Winters raised his shield to protect his armor. Three crisp sounds, and three arrows were bounced away by his shield and his breastplate.

He felt like he was hit by a stone three times, and it was nothing serious.

Other nearby fires have also been suffocated.

Winters shouted: "Attack!"

There was no longer any need to hide it, Heinrich spread his military flag and a shrill charge rang.

"Uukhai!" The Montane team let go and shouted and rushed towards the wall.

The Palathus had considered the loss of the fortress, so the walls facing the camp side of the fortress were shorter and the trenches were shallower.

But it is still a daunting fortification that needs to be filled with life.

After running twenty steps forward, another rain of arrows was heard.

This time Winters only heard a crisp sound. He was not afraid of bows and arrows, he was waiting for the gunshots.

All the Montagne teams were in armor, and some even put on another piece of armor outside the plate armor. Unless they were shot by accident or aimed accurately, the bow and arrow could not cause damage.

Less than ten meters away from the trench, Winters saw a flash of red light on the wall in front of him.

"Rise the shield!" He yelled, subconsciously raising the shield.

This chapter is not finished yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content later! The sound of gunfire sounds like beans on the wall.

"Bang!"

Winters only felt his left arm being numb, and the lead bullet penetrated the outer iron sheet and inner wood of the shield, and finally smashed into pieces on his left chest armor.

Even though his breastplate was not penetrated, Winters still felt stuffy in his chest.

What he was most worried about was that only the Chihe tribe of the Baishi's coalition forces would be equipped with a large number of muskets, and only the Chihe tribe had reserved enough gunpowder.

Having musketeers on the wall means that they will fight against Akawa tonight.

The Montagne team, which had no casualties in the bow and arrow, was instantly knocked down by muskets.

"Cloud ladder!" Winters' eyes were so bloody that he could only move forward bravely: "Grenade!"

"Uukhai!" The soldiers carried the ladders across the trench.

There is an iron hook at the top of the ladder, and it cannot be pushed off if it is stuck.

The Montagne warrior began to climb up with his shield.

"Uukhai!" Eighteen grenadiers shook their arms and threw the hissing iron-shell bomb into the wall.

A series of dull explosions rang out inside the fortress.

The grenadier was a strong man selected from the entire squad. Winters gave them a simple command: drop all four grenades in one minute.

The two-pound iron shell bombs drew an arc and flew behind the wall, but failed to effectively kill the enemies on the wall as Winters expected.

Meanwhile, the musketeers and archers on the wall are fighting back.

Lead bullets and arrows flew across the board. Even though Winters' deflection technique had achieved some results, he still could not deal with so many stray arrows and stray bullets.

He simply stopped maintaining the deflection technique and waved his arms and shouted: "Climb the wall! Climb..."
