Chapter 477: Jobs in the Film Industry

Late at night, Gibson and several partners left the theater and walked onto the street. If it weren't for the clear street lights and the surrounding modern buildings, just looking at their dressing, they would have thought they had come to a strange world.

Before they left the theater, they not only made a big purchase at the product store, but also put a lot of the things they bought on them.

For example, Gibson wore a gray spire wizard hat, a quaint wooden walking stick in his hand, and a gray robe. At first glance, it seemed as if Gandalf had arrived on the North American continent.

His companions were not much better. Some were carrying Legolas' short bows, some were holding Aragon's long sword. The most exaggerated one was a girl wearing Arwen's velvet dress...

"What a pity."

The girl named Roshi seemed a little dissatisfied and complained to her companions, "There is no limited edition of the Lord of the Rings jewelry for sale in the theater. I saved up a year's pocket money and just wanted to buy one, but they all sold out."

"Luchi, you're a rich man now!" Gibson joked, and then said seriously, "That's $3,999!"

"I'm happy to buy it!" Luo Xi said indifferently, "I'm willing to contribute all my pocket money to this movie, and I don't care if I spend my credit card!"

Several people made a buzzing voice, and Luo Xi stared at them and said, "Stop talking about me, since the release of the Lord of the Rings, which one of you has bought the surrounding money less than $3,000?"

Gibson and others couldn't help scratching their faces. Not to mention the past, they each threw more than three hundred dollars tonight.

"I won't talk about this anymore." Gibson accelerated his pace a little. "After watching "Return of the King", I remembered the first two movies again. Why don't we go back and watch the disc quickly."

"I agree!" Luo Xi was the first to echo.

Others agreed, their speed was getting faster and faster, and eventually slowly disappeared on the streets of New York.

This weekend is an exciting weekend for many movie fans across the United States and even the world. It is a happy weekend.

But no matter how long the weekend is, there are still times when it is finished.

The sun once again illuminated the west coast of North America. In the small conference room of Pixar Studio in Emoryville, Steve Jobs finished a glass of water, but did not look at Ed Camel, who was preparing the documents next to him, picked up several newspapers placed in front of him and started reading.

After briefly browsing the current affairs and technology version, there was no news that could attract attention. Then he flipped into the entertainment version. As expected, the entertainment version was almost flooded with reports related to "Return of the King".

According to past habits, Steve Jobs put the front page aside for the time being, turned to the back page, and looked at the market experience, just like Apple products. Whether it is computers, players, or movies and other audio-visual products, he first valued the user experience.

Although the user responses in the newspaper may not be all true, they can always reflect some problems.

"Because I have watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I am willing to believe that in this world, at some time, there is really a land called Middle Earth. On the land, there are hobbits with blue eyes walking barefoots, the royal family with dusty faces riding horses with swords, the elves with silver hair and slapped archery, the white robe wizard casting spells and exorcisms on white horses, and the Charles, Lohan, Gondor, and Mordor, who have all truly existed under the sky."

"In 2001, 2002, 2003, three years of worry and nearly nine hours of joy and sorrow, every time there is a seemingly ending clip, I always feel fear, fearing that it is really the end! Only when Frodo closed the parchment book did he finally realize that he had been over for a long time, and his heart was peaceful, but he felt full of melancholy."

"I have seen it in the theater. After "Return of the King", some movie fans stood up and bowed deeply to the screen with tears in their eyes. That's because this is not just a movie, it can make people believe in everything that happens. In this era when dreams are no longer believed in, Duke Rosenberg has weaved a magnificent dream for us!"

Seeing this, Steve Jobs looked up and asked Ed Camel, "Have you watched "Return of the King"?"

The Pixar Studio eO temporarily put down his work, held his glasses and said, "I watched it on Friday, a masterpiece that is completely worthy of greatness! Duke Rosenberg's talent in film is really unparalleled!"

He turned to the other side and said to John Lasette and others, "John and the others went to see it twice."

John Lasset shrugged, "This movie is not just great. Duke Rosenberg's many practical techniques have inspired me. I can raise some of the things he uses, which can be fully used in our animation production, and it will bring a lot of help."

"After watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy, do you want to admire Duke? Rosenberg can't do it."

As the director of Pixar Studios' recent animated film, Andrew Stanton said gladly, "Disney is not dazed yet, and the release date of "Looking for Nemo" is far enough away from "Return of the King."

"Michael Eisner has not been infected by that idiot Michael Orwitz." John Lasette said, then looked at Jobs and asked, "Steve, did the box office come out on the first weekend?"

"It should be counted." Jobs turned the newspaper to the front page of the entertainment edition, looked at the extremely conspicuous figures, and said, "I got $42.11 million on Sunday!"

"$42.11 million!" John Lasette was not only as simple as watching the movie twice, but obviously a fan of this series. He immediately started to calculate it while his mouth was flipped. "Friday is $40.35 million, Saturday is $44.21 million, plus Sunday is $42.11 million, three days on the first weekend are..."

Jobs said directly, "$126.67 million! New North American weekend box office record!"

John Lasette added a sentence after him, "Including the early stage, the box office of "Return of the King" in North America has exceeded 130 million US dollars... Well, it is 133.28 million US dollars!"

Ed Camel and Andrew Stanton looked at each other and smiled helplessly. Duke Rosenberg is still as powerful as ever in the summer season!

Putting down the newspaper, Steve Jobs couldn't help but think of the young director who was always plain. He rarely felt admiration in his heart. Although the two parties were destined to be friends because of business relationships, he admired all capable people. There is no doubt that the guy named Duke Rosenberg was the best in his industry.

Even Jobs thought Duke Rosenberg was definitely the most outstanding person to the film industry, just like himself in the computer industry!

As Brad Bird and others arrived at the conference room, the giants of Pixar Studios finally arrived and the meeting kicked off.

"Ed," said Jobs directly, "talk about contact with Warner Bros. and the Duke Studio."

"I have talked with Duke Rosenberg's senior assistant Tina Fey and Warner Bros. representatives, four times in the past month."

In this dynamic and creative company, even if there is a meeting with Jobs, the atmosphere will not be serious. Ed Camel's speech speed is not very fast, and he tried to say as concisely as possible, "I can feel the sincerity of Duke and Warner. They really want Pixar to join Warner's system, and the conditions offered are much better than Disney and Michael Eisner."

"The specific terms are all in the information in front of you." Ed Kaml sighed softly, "It's really touching."

"What about Disney?" Jobs asked again.

"They made some concessions." Ed Kaml shook his head, "and agreed to give up another 30% of the box office gain."

"I don't want the box office!"

Jobs knew very well what the profit points of animated movies were, "Is it still unwilling to give in?"

"Yes."

Hearing Ed Camel's words, Jobs thought for a while and said slowly, "The negotiations between the two sides continue to drag on. We are not in a hurry. Pixar has enough capital now, and Pixar can change the situation in Hollywood!"

There is also a contract for an animated feature film between Pixar Studio and Walt Disney. There is no need to worry about negotiations. Jobs is still observing. What he wants is the most favorable result for Pixar and him, Steve Jobs!

The closed-door meeting was not completely over in the afternoon, and Steve Jobs left Pixar Studio and flew to Los Angeles by plane to attend a reception at Sony Entertainment.

Before entering the banquet, Jobs received another data report from his secretary. Seeing the even more terrifying numbers on it, he had the idea again. Duke Rosenberg was Steve Jobs in the film industry.

Jobs was a half-believers of the deceased Akio Morita, which was the biggest reason why he was invited to participate in the cocktail party.

But Sony Entertainment invited him over, obviously not because of this. The person representing Sony Entertainment quickly approached him.

"Steve, are you interested in working with Sony Entertainment?"

The one who faced Jobs was Michael Orwitz, who helped Sony win Columbia Pictures. This obviously acted as a broker again. "Sony really wanted to cooperate with Pixar Studios."

“Sony Entertainment?”

For people like Jobs, he would not hide it too much and shook his head directly, "Sony Entertainment is not worthy of Pixar Studio!"

Indeed, Pixar Studios must have a huge media platform to shine, but Sony Entertainment can only rank last among the six major Hollywood companies. For Pixar Studios, which is now a hot item, Sony Entertainment is really not worthy!

Michael Orwitz knew more about Jobs, but he didn't care, and said, "Steve, I promise..."

"You promise?"

Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by Jobs, "Is your guarantee trustworthy?" (To be continued)
