Chapter 174 The end of the Spanish Far East revenge force

According to the combat plan that has been formulated, the Royal Guards Division will set off from Zhanbei, and with the assistance of the engineer column, cross the muddy land between the Indrakiri River and the Gamba River, then attack Pekanbaru, and then attack Medan along the coastline. The First Division will set off from Bengguru and attack Badong along the coast, and eliminate the two artillery regiments and eight infantry regiments deployed by Spain here. The Second Division and the Eleventh Division will land in Banda Aceh and Lansha respectively, and eliminate the strong fortresses built by the Spanish here.

This plan of four-sided siege was obtained when the Ming Dynasty had completely obtained the sea control power. Analyzing the morale, tactical level and equipment level of both sides, the probability of success of this plan is infinitely close to 100%.

At exactly 10:00 a.m. on August 20, 1782, after the Royal Guards Division and the Engineer Column completed the oath of the Monument, they began to march into Medan, preparing to travel more than 300 kilometers on land to attack Medan.

"The combat plan this time is to cross hundreds of kilometers of dense forests and swamps to attack Pekanbaru. At normal speed, we will be able to get there in fifteen days. During this period, I hope you will take good care of your soldiers and minimize unnecessary non-combat casualties. I don't want to let our soldiers go to war when they arrive at the city. Have you heard it clearly?" Before the army set off, Li Degong reminded the lower-level officers at the mobilization meeting.

"I heard it clearly!" said the officers.

"Okay, let's go!" Li Degong announced.

The Royal Guard Division was covered with swamps and dense forests, and their journey was very difficult. However, with experienced engineer columns as auxiliary, their degree of difficulty was greatly reduced.

Although the road was a little more difficult, the Spaniards would never have thought that the Royal Guard Division would pass through this road. Their soldiers were relatively spoiled. They were afraid of the dense forest that could not be seen at a glance and the swamp that could be trapped in with just one step. How could they dare to go deeper into this and take the risk of attacking the Ming Dynasty?

Thirteen days later, on September 2, 1782, two days earlier than the original plan, the Royal Guard Division and the Engineer Column arrived at the Bekanbaru Fortress. This fortress was built by the Spaniards by tens of thousands of local natives overnight. As an important support point on the border with the Ming Dynasty, two infantry regiments were stationed here.

Their highest commander is Francisco, a lieutenant colonel. He is smart and capable, very enthusiastic about his work, and comes to inspect various locations in the fortress every day. If someone is lazy, his whip will be indispensable.

However, his men were not enough, and the Royal Guards Division quickly surrounded him, a simple castle built with sandbags and wood.

If it were in the seventeenth century, this kind of bastion was an extremely difficult for the army to conquer. Even experienced European military strategists still needed to spend a lot of time, manpower and material resources to dig tunnels and build trenches to break through the fortress. However, in the eighteenth century, with the further improvement of artillery performance, the protection ability of this fortress was greatly reduced.

Moreover, the artillery of the Royal Guards Division is decades ahead of this era and is equipped with rockets that are twenty years ahead of them. It is very easy to deal with this kind of suggestion.

Since the early morning of September 3, Li Degong asked the artillery and rocket soldiers directly under the division to bombard the fortress. Rockets and blasting bombs have very destructive power to this simple bastion. The bastion, which originally Francisco estimated to have been broken, has now been broken in only one day.

The battle was very rapid. On the evening of September 3, the Ming army captured the fortress, Francisco died in battle, and more than 300 remaining people inside fought against Bai Qi and surrendered.

Then the Royal Guard Division began to march towards Medan. At noon on September 6, the Royal Guard Division and the Engineer Column surrounded Medan City.

The defenders here were headed by Brigadier General Navarro. From top to bottom, they were very surprised by the arrival of the Ming army and thought they were divine soldiers and generals.

The Royal Guard Division also attacked them fiercely. Compared with Pekanbaru, this bastion was built, which was more sturdy and even compared with the bastions set up in some vital places in Spain.

Li Degong ordered another shelling bombardment and rocket bombardment, blew the bastion up to fire and smoke. After only two days, the Spaniards raised white flags and surrendered.

The mission of the Royal Guard Division has been completed now, and the First Division has completed the mission faster under the leadership of Tien Niu. There were no big rivers blocking them along the way, no swamp traps, only endless tropical rainforests. However, the First Division was the first group of troops to be established, and everyone is already very familiar with the terrain of the tropical rainforest, so the First Division has successfully passed these dense forests. They set out from Bingguru on August 20, and on August 28, they arrived at the periphery of the Badong Fortress and immediately siege it.

The Spanish army stationed here was large in number, and it seemed that they were preparing to attack the Ming Dynasty and made many preparations. Tienniu ordered a three-sided siege to leave the side leading to Banda Aceh. Although the Spanish defenders had a large number of troops, their equipment was relatively poor. They just wanted to use artillery to counterattack, but they were quickly completely destroyed by the heavy artillery of the First Division. Therefore, they quickly decided to escape from this place and fled towards Banda Aceh where General Decas was located.

They fled here on the evening of August 31 and fled towards Banda Aceh, but they did not expect that the First Division immediately followed. During the field battle that night, the Spanish army suffered heavy losses, leaving only more than 200 people surrendered.

The 11th Division, on a transport ship, set off from Dongfanglu on August 24, and landed in Lansha in the early morning of August 28. With the intensive fire support of the Third Fleet, after a day and a half of strong attacks, the 11th Division, which was formed the latest, captured Lansha Fortress, and a few days later, successfully joined forces with the Royal Guard Division, which attacked from Sumatra Island.

The Second Division set out from Chengtian Prefecture on August 20, and under the escort of the First Fleet, it arrived at the coast of Banda Aceh on August 25. General Decas personally led an army of 10,000 people to station here, but in the face of the well-equipped and highly morale Second Division, they were no match for them. After three days of competition, on August 28, Decas personally surrendered with the white flag.
