Chapter 63 Yang Fan

"Ta Kung Pao" is a private newspaper headquartered in Hong Kong. Since the July 7 Incident, it has supported the national war of resistance.

The newspapers specially invited Hu Shi, Liang Shuming and others to write for the Ta Kung Pao, and enjoyed a very high reputation in the industry.

During this period, there were very few official newspapers and magazines, including the Kuomintang’s Central Daily News, and the Communist Party founded and published by Xinhua Daily in Wuhan in January 1938.

As a leader in the private newspaper industry, Ta Kung Pao has always been in the leading position in the circulation. As a reporter for this newspaper, the difficulty of work and the speed of news grabbing are also second to none.

Guan Shijie took a bus to Changsha on Saturday night, and found a hotel to stay in not far from the Changsha Security Command.

The next morning, after eating a bowl of hot dry noodles, Guan Shijie came to Changsha Security Command, an office location of a four-story building.

In the police room at the gate, Guan Shijie showed his ID and said that he was looking for Lin Fan, but was told that Yang Fan led his troops to be stationed in the western suburbs of Changsha.

Guan Shijiema took the bus without stopping and rushed to the security headquarters in the western suburbs, the regiment headquarters where Yang Fan was located.

At the guard post at the gate of the regiment headquarters, Guan Shijie still showed his ID and said he wanted to find Yang Fan. Shortly after the sentry called the internal phone, Yang Fan hurriedly rushed from the regiment headquarters to the gate.

"Major Guan, it's really you. Are you on a business trip?" Yang Fan said enthusiastically: "We will sit together at noon and have two drinks."

"To be honest, Captain Yang said, I came here specifically to find you this time." Guan Shijie said with a smile.

"Let's go, come to my office to chat first."

Yang Fan led Guan Shijie to his office.

The office is very simple, with a wooden table, a wooden chair, a camp bed, and an iron filing cabinet.

"Major Guan, I don't know what you are looking for in your brothers."

Yang Fan made a cup of tea for Guan Shijie in a grass-green enamel jar, and asked Guan Shijie to sit on the chair and on the camp bed.

"I heard that a few days ago, your security headquarters didn't know which team had caught some refugees who robbed rice." Guan Shijie said straight to the point: "A friend's cousin, you have also been arrested in prison."

"This incident was captured by my brother. What is your friend's cousin's name?"

"Huang Xiucheng, a journalist in Ta Kung Pao."

"Ah! I know this person. I may be sentenced to prison." Yang Fan said slightly surprised: "Major Guan came here to see this person."

"I want to rescue this person. I don't know what Captain Yang has to do," said Guan Shijie.

"Major Guan, you and I hit it off at first sight, and I am a fellow villager. I won't hide some words from you, I'm afraid this person can't be saved."

"A newspaper reporter was just a reporter who reported some truth and was arrested in prison with false charges. How could he not be rescued?"

Guan Shijie knew that Huang Xiucheng's charge was inciting and instigating refugees to rob Mi Xing. The most important point was that Huang Xiucheng was a Communist. The Kuomintang had already begun to make a big fuss with this matter. It said that the Communists undermined the anti-Japanese war and disrupted social order.

"This person is really a Communist. Although it is a cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, Major Guan should also understand the above meaning." Yang Fan said tactfully.

"Huang Xiucheng personally admitted that he was a Communist"

"He himself did not admit it, it was identified by his accomplices."

"Huang Xiucheng has real evidence to participate in and encourage refugees to grab rice."

"It was also identified by his accomplices. In addition, when we went to perform the mission, Huang Xiucheng was on the scene."

"I understand. When you go to arrest people, you will first get the target order. Therefore, no matter whether Huang Xiucheng incites or instigates or not, as long as he is on the scene, he will definitely be arrested."

It is obvious that Huang Xiucheng was arrested in a planned and premeditated manner.

"Brothers are soldiers. Soldiers are obedient to orders." Yang Fan said: "So, some people want to make a fuss about this matter. Even if Huang Xiucheng is not on the scene, he will be arrested and imprisoned."

"Captain Yang, is there really no room for compatibility in this matter?"

"Major Guan, aren't you afraid of getting into trouble if you save this person?" Yang Fan said: "This matter was done by your secret service chief Changsha station and our security command."

"Of course I'm afraid of getting into trouble. But I'm entrusted by others to be loyal to others. I have to do what I promised my friends to do. Even if I can't do it, I have to do my best."

"Major Guan is a righteous person, but this matter is indeed very difficult, so let me think about it."

"This is a 10,000 yuan silver note. Please help Captain Yang handle the matter and rescue the person no matter what."

"Major Guan, I dare not speak for myself, so I can only do my best." Yang Fan said: "I will accept the money first, and I don't need to say anything if I finish it. If I can't finish it, the money will be returned in full."

"President Yang's words are not bad, but there is still favors in the end. Although favors cannot be measured by money, if you lack money and move less, favors may gradually fade. Money is also a bond between people."

"Maybe." Yang Fan said: "Not everyone is profit-oriented. Let's do it, wait for my news."

"Then thank Captain Yang." Guan Shijie said: "If it really doesn't work, don't let it go, so as not to miss the future of Captain Yang."

"I borrow your words and say that I will be trusted by others and be loyal to others. I should do my best. If I do it, you and I are brothers. If I can't do it, I will still be friends. At that time, Major Guan should not blame me."

The interaction between people also emphasizes fate. Although Guan Shijie did not use handshakes to find out Yang Fan’s inner thoughts, Guan Shijie firmly believed that Yang Fan was the kind of person who did not make promises easily, and would pursue his promises without hesitation and would be willing to rush to his friends.

The feeling of men is sometimes very effective.

Yang Fan initially wanted to meet Guan Shijie, one was a fellow villager in Peking, and the other was a major team leader of the Military Affairs Bureau. There might be a helping hand between the two.

In addition, Yang Fan and his military command have always had cooperation with Changsha Station of the Military Affairs Bureau. After hearing this, they also know some of Guan Shijie's background.

Yang Fan believes that Guan Shijie's future is limitless. One day in the future, he may be able to use this relationship. Based on this, Yang Fan bit the bullet and agreed to help.

On March 27, Guan Shijie waited for the long-awaited news.

As soon as he went to work in the morning, Yuan Xu found Guan Shijie and expressed his gratitude.

"Instructor Guan, thank you. My cousin was released from prison yesterday."

Guan Shijie had not received the news yet, and he couldn't help but feel a little suspicious. If Yang Fan did this, he would definitely notify him in advance.

What's going on? Guan Shijie called Yang Fan in Yuan Xu's office.

Yang Fan's answer made Guan Shijie feel that this matter was too strange.
