Chapter VII, The Paris Commune

On April 15, 1882, on the same day as the international conference was held, several French revolutionary organizations jointly launched an uprising, publicly proposing the socialist Blancé as the leader.

The rebel army captured the police station, seized the arsenal of the city defense force, controlled the embassy area, and swept over half of Paris.

The war burned to Versailles Palace. Napoleon IV fled out of Paris overnight with the palace guards, and remotely commanded the army that was still loyal to the emperor to suppress the rebellion.

Upon receiving this news, Franz was shocked. His first reaction after waking up was: When did the combat effectiveness of the revolutionary party become so strong? Is the French government just a piece of paper?

No one can answer this question. Like the previous Paris Revolution, as long as the first shot is successful, it can quickly sweep the whole city.

The Revolutionary Army occupied Paris, and this international conference became a joke.

During the day, we were still discussing how to curb the spread of revolutionary ideas, but at night it fell into the hands of the revolutionary party. I guess the delegates attending the meeting are now confused.

After experiencing strong winds and waves, Franz quickly recovered and asked with concern: "How many troops can Napoleon IV control? Do you have the ability to suppress the rebellion?"

"Unsure!" Foreign Minister Wesenberg shook his head and gave a negative answer. He then explained: "Except for the First Division, Second Division, Third Division, and Seventh Division, these direct troops can be confirmed to be supporting the emperor, other troops have not yet had a clear position.

The Paris Revolution has just happened, and everyone has not prepared in advance. I guess many people will wait and see the situation first and will not make their position for the time being.

Ignoring the army that did not show its position, the army controlled by Napoleon IV still had an advantage, and the Paris Revolution was able to succeed because the army loyal to the emperor was not in Paris.

The Seventh Division was suppressing the Lyon rebellion, the First and Second Divisions were suppressing the Italian independence movement, and the Third Division was stationed outside the city of Paris.

On the same day when the Paris Revolution broke out, a rebellion broke out in Gones in the suburbs, and the time was only five hours ahead of schedule. The main force of the Third Division was sent out to suppress it.

The city defense forces left behind in Paris were mostly composed of locals in Paris and they sympathized with the revolution. After the rebellion broke out, the city defense forces did not send troops to suppress them in time, which was also an important reason for the expansion of the rebellion.

The success of this Paris Revolution was full of too many coincidences, as if someone was manipulating it behind the scenes, deliberately creating opportunities for the rebels.

It is said that the war burned to the Palace of Versailles, and Napoleon IV was reported to be rebelled.

If you have the ability to open the army and intercept the news, you will definitely have considerable strength in the government and the army.

The French Revolutionary Party has not yet had the ability to penetrate this point, and has the strength and motivation to do so, most of the restoration forces of the Orleans and the Bourbon dynasties."

Franz rubbed his forehead and walked to the window to look into the distance. Now he had to sweat for Napoleon IV.

Outside, there were revolutionary parties plundering, and within the government, there were former royal restoration forces, and consortium forces that could cause damage at any time.

In such a complex situation, it is not easy to sit firmly on the throne. It can be said that this is the hottest throne in the world, no doubt about it.

Prime Minister Felix: "It's not that serious, there are many contradictions within the Revolutionary Party, and there are at least ten groups of forces controlling Paris.

There were also many royalist restoration forces mixed in this. They reached an agreement on overthrowing the rule of the Bonaparte dynasty and barely united.

When the political system is involved, when the interests are distributed, the original allies become enemies.

Perhaps under pressure from the government forces, they will not turn against each other for the time being, but they cannot expect them to work closely together.

Napoleon IV has now left Paris. With the prestige of his father Napoleon III and the gold and gold in his hands, it is not difficult to gain support from the military.

If there is no accident, I think the Paris Revolution will end in less than a month.”

"Optimists vs. pessimists", from Franz's personal standpoint, naturally hopes that Napoleon IV can suppress the rebellion as soon as possible.

As for "secret manipulation, let the revolutionary party and the government continue to kill and disrupt France." Just think about it, there is no feasibility at all.

This was determined by France's special national conditions. The three royal families split the most powerful royalists, which led to the government's loss of the ability to fight for a long time.

In other words, as long as Napoleon IV did not suppress the rebellion in a short period of time, the Bonaparte dynasty would be over.

It doesn't matter if there is another dynasty. Franz doesn't care which dynasty in France is in charge, but if the French regime falls into the hands of the revolutionary party, it won't work.

There is such a successful precedent in that the European revolutionary wave must not reach a new level, and then don’t think about attacking the Ottomans, and it is too late to put out the fire.

After pondering for a while, Franz made a decision: "It's best, but we still have to plan the worst.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs communicates with Britain and Russia, and they probably don’t want to see the situation in France get out of control. They can organize interference in the coalition forces if necessary.”

"Europe is the foundation", Franz has never recognized it before, and now he has to admit that this sentence is still very reasonable.

As a European country, no matter what its strategic core is, it has to be affected by the situation in Europe.

On the surface, civil strife broke out in France, and now Austria sends troops to unify the German region is the best choice.

However, so many politicians in the Vienna government have not raised this question.

Obviously, things are not that simple. Now the German region is also surging, with revolutionary waves one after another.

At this time, sending troops to unify the German region was equivalent to introducing the revolutionary wave into Austria. For a long time in the future, the Vienna government would sort out the conflicts between the children's internal departments.

Open the map and you will know that the strategic situation in Austria is not beautiful at all, and it can be said that a strong enemy looks around.

To the east is a greedy bear, to the west is awesome France, to the south is a feudal Ottoman Empire. If the German region is unified, the northern part will face the Nordic Federation and Britain.

On the surface, France is in civil strife, the Russians are still licking their wounds, and Austria has the ability to take action first and can solve the threat in advance.

However, France and Russia are both great powers, and they can't be killed at all at once. If they don't die, they will recover one day. Under the trend of hatred, everyone will fall into long-term confrontation.

Politics is not simply a game of distinguishing enemies and friends. There is no eternal enemy and friends between countries. In the face of interests, the relationship between "enemy and friends" may be reversed at any time.

If a country blindly launches war against others because of potential threats to its neighbors, then the days when the world is enemies will not be far away.

In addition to strategic needs, the Vienna government chose the Ottoman Empire as a breakthrough, and a big reason for their weakerness, they can solve the problem once and for all.

...

Tour, this ancient city, once again became the political center of France after the Renaissance.

After escaping Paris, Napoleon IV ran to Tours in one breath, which became the temporary office of the French Empire government.

Frankly speaking, the Bonaparte dynasty is quite popular. Napoleon far away was France's pride, and Napoleon III, the recent one was also France's hero.

Although Napoleon IV did not have any great achievements, he had no bad records. Ordinary people did not have much disgust towards him, the emperor.

The endless rebellions in China do not mean that everyone is going to rebel. Many rebellions are caused by capitalists.

In the economic crisis, hedges goods, raises prices, and forces the lower class to survive, so that they can't rebel.

Among the many rebellions in France, a large part of them were people rushing to grab food, and after the robbery, they scattered.

Only small and medium-sized cities like Paris and Tours are rich in revolutionary ideas, and the people's enthusiasm for revolution is not very high.

The best evidence is that Napoleon IV was warmly welcomed by the residents of Tours. Of course, this has something to do with the news of the Paris Revolution that did not spread.

"Have the Fifth and Sixth Divisions set out?" asked Napoleon IV.

Army Secretary Luskinia Hafez replied: "The Fifth Division had already begun yesterday morning, and the Sixth Division also set out this morning. They will arrive in Paris in three days at most to suppress the rebellion."

When Napoleon IV heard this news, he breathed a sigh of relief. The willingness of the army to accept the order means that the situation is not yet uncontrollable.
