Chapter 178 Not Training
Chapter 178: Not training
Chapter 178: Not training
The action started as scheduled at 12:00 on the next night.
Before this operation, we made some preparations in advance. In order to shorten the possibility of being discovered by the Vietnamese army, and to avoid exposing our secret base, the last helicopters were divided into several groups and flew out of the base in secret the night before and arrived at the military base on the border.
This order from the superior is actually easy to understand. After all, things like helicopters flying in the sky are easily discovered by Vietnamese agents or spies. If we dispatch ten helicopters at once and fly towards the border, we are afraid that the Japanese will be able to infer where the headquarters of our special reconnaissance brigade will be located the next day after our surprise attack on the Vietnamese artillery positions.
At dawn the next day, we infantrymen drove to the border with the army of the border troops. This is undoubtedly another wonderful game, because we are not many, all of us have more than one hundred people and four cars, and our military uniforms and equipment are the same as ordinary border soldiers. Some even hold 56 and a half in their hands...
It would be normal for troops like us to rush to the front line, so they would not attract the attention of Vietnamese agents at all.
Our equipment had already arrived at the Sino-Vietnam border with the helicopter last night. The reason why we did not follow the helicopter was because we had just entered a rest state at that time. Considering that the helicopters were operating in batches and had to do many fake actions along the way, we chose to operate separately in order to ensure that the soldiers had enough rest time.
But I soon regretted it. During this period, we have been climbing up and down on the helicopter every day, and have become used to the pleasure of the helicopter. The speed is more than 200 kilometers per hour, which is the upper limit of the speed of modern high-speed trains, and they are still in a straight line distance. Our base is only 20 to 30 kilometers away from the border. If you are taking a helicopter, you will arrive in more than ten minutes. However, now... we are sitting in this car, shaking around the mountain, endlessly turning around...
I have seen what a highway on the mountain is now, that is, climbing the mountain in the shape of "z", first climbing up and then climbing down. The helicopter only needs a few seconds to pass the slightest distance, but the car has to go back and forth for at least a few kilometers. If this is what we used to, we might not feel anything, but now we feel like we are sitting on a snail!
After seven or eight hours of hard work, I finally arrived at the destination. I hurriedly pulled the soldiers out of the car and the whole team. Wang Yunming and their helicopters were already waiting for us in front of the military camp.
The person who came to greet us was a regiment political commissar named Lin from the Border Defense Army. He looked at me and my soldiers with some unwilling gaze, then shook my hand casually and said, "Hello Comrade! Are you Captain Cui?"
"I am!" I nodded, then took out the certificate from my shirt pocket and handed it on.
Political Commissar Lin looked around and nodded and said, "According to the order of the superior... we will meet all your requirements for food, equipment and military strength. If you have any needs, please mention it! However... I advise you not to walk around. This is the front line, and bullets do not have eyes!"
Listening to Political Commissar Lin's words, looking at Xu unhappy on his face, I was still a little confused at first, but after thinking about it, I quickly understood: I think this should be for confidentiality, and my superiors did not tell them what kind of troops we were, let alone what tasks we were here to carry out. I think the superiors simply issued a dead order, requiring Political Commissar Lin and others to unconditionally meet all the requirements we made...
I am also a soldier. Of course, I know what Political Commissar Lin and other soldiers who fight on the battlefield will think. They will naturally curse in their hearts: Damn it! This is definitely the descendant of a leader who came to this battlefield to pay gold. What they want is credit, but what we lose is life!
However, Political Commissar Lin didn't say much. Although he was a little confused in his eyes, he didn't ask until the end. He just arranged the meal and told me that his residence was next to our barracks and walked away. From this point, we can also see that Political Commissar Lin is a smart person, because curiosity will never be a good thing for a soldier. All we need to know is just the orders conveyed by our superiors!
Seeing Political Commissar Lin’s appearance, I didn’t explain much, and followed the soldiers to settle down in the military camp.
After turning on the radio and reporting the situation to Political Commissar Yang of the base, I passed the blueprint of the battle in my mind, thought about every detail carefully, and then I lay on the bed and forced myself to relax without thinking about anything.
Because I know very well that as a commander like me who wants to take soldiers to the battlefield, it is especially important to maintain a clear mind and abundant physical strength.
However, the soldiers sleeping beside me toss and turns and couldn't sleep. One of them asked quietly: "Battery Commander! Are we going to fight?"
Although the sound was small, it quickly spread throughout every corner of the military camp like a magic. All the soldiers immediately became quiet and all of them stood up and waited for my answer.
"Yes!" My answer caused quite a stir in the military camp. At this time, I didn't want to hide it from them anymore. I should give them some time to prepare mentally.
The soldiers had different expressions, some were nervous and some were excited, and some had rolled up their sleeves and were eager to try.
I nodded secretly with satisfaction. Although I knew that all of my soldiers had fought and performed well on the battlefield, I was very clear that not being afraid of going to the battlefield for the first time does not mean not being afraid of going to the battlefield for the second time. Many soldiers were willing to fight and kill hard for the first time. However, when they walked off the battlefield, they became more and more afraid of it. This would lead to a strange phenomenon, that is, they would not be afraid of the second time, but instead they would be afraid of fighting.
If you really know that you want to go to the battlefield, you will be afraid that there will be only veterans like me who have experienced many battle formations. However, the soldiers under me are not veterans. They only have more than ten days of war on the battlefield. Although they perform very well, the time they roll on the battlefield is still short, and now is the time for them to be afraid.
Fortunately, however, they were not as worried as I was.
"I just said..." Al Ziri sat up from the bed and said, "I have been in the car for so long and have arrived at the border. Isn't this going to fight or why?"
"Good guy!" Li Zhifu waved his fist and said, "We have been training for so long and suffered so much. The only thing we have done is to give this to the Vietnamese devils today! Battalion Commander, where are we going to fight?"
"Shut up!" I ordered unhappily: "Everyone closes my eyes and sleeps, keeps my spirits and prepares for the task!"
"Yes!" The soldiers responded and all lay back on the bed without moving. Then, a sound of snoring sounded in the military camp in a short while.
When it is time to fight, you must rest when it is time to rest. This is also one of the training subjects of our special reconnaissance brigade.
After resting for four hours, at 11 o'clock, all the soldiers jumped from the bed to the warehouse next door to collect their equipment at almost the same time. Ten minutes later, we all finished the dress and made corresponding disguises. The soldiers were wearing helmets of mini radio stations, their faces and bodies were covered with mud for disguise, and even their weapons were wrapped in rags. Not to mention the members of the shooting team, all of them were covered with weeds.
Political Commissar Lin was also awakened by us. When he saw us suddenly, he suddenly became like this. When he looked at the equipment on us, his face suddenly turned bloodless. He was also a person who had been on the battlefield, so he knew very well what kind of equipment the svd sniper rifle was in his hands.
However, this is secondarily. When I ordered the soldiers to turn on the micro radio and try to see if the call was smooth, I was even more shocked. Political Commissar Lin was stunned... Although there were not many SVD sniper rifles, they could always get a few fights against the Vietnamese army on the battlefield, while the mini radios we put on the helmets were unheard of...
"Standing at the sight! Looking forward! Rest..." As I called out the orders one after another, the soldiers responded in unison. The neat movements and the uneven military posture made Political Commissar Lin understand that we were not an ordinary army, and they stood aside and didn't even dare to say anything.
"Now assign a combat mission!" I said to the soldiers: "We will pass through a section of road before we enter the target. At this time, the helicopter slows down. Each of you has three mines on you. Use the fastest speed to activate the mine and throw it down. Do you understand?"
"I understand!"
"Fifth Company, the troops are divided into two groups to be responsible for occupying the 303 and 217 highlands!" I distributed the maps that had been prepared to several company commanders, and then ordered: "Fourth Company is from the east and the Sixth Company is from the west, and at the same time, launching a raid on the enemy artillery positions in the low-lying areas of the highlands, requiring the enemy to be wiped out and all the artillery in the position. Be sure to end the battle within fifteen minutes and arrive at the assembly point and board the helicopter and return. Are you clear about the mission?"
"I'm clear!" The soldiers answered like wolves and tigers, wishing they could go to the battlefield and kill.
After a pause, I emphasized again: "This is not a training, nor is it an exercise! Helicopters can only wait for two minutes at most. Those who cannot reach the assembly point and board the helicopter will stay in Vietnam forever. Do you understand?"
"Understood!"
