Chapter Thirteen Sunshine

Chapter 13 Sunshine

Chapter 13 Sunshine

The sky lit up unknowingly, and the rising sun rose from our left, first like a red ball, then colorful and as bright as a brilliant one. The fiery red light burned the 386 highland that was indistinguishable like a fire!

I have to admit that I am used to night battles and I am still a little uncomfortable with day battles with such high visibility. At night, you can attack enemy high grounds while the enemy is not paying attention, and you can also do some sneak attacks, such as infiltration. But now, all the actions of our army are under the enemy's nose. If you want to sneak attacks, infiltration is almost impossible. This makes this battle almost a strong attack.

"Bang bang..." Two bullets flew out of the rifle in my hand. The two Vietnamese soldiers hiding in trenches on the top of the mountain were tilted and fell into a pool of blood.

There is also an advantage in day combat, that is, you don’t have to guess where your opponent is hiding like at night, especially those Vietnamese troops holding modern weapons in front of you.

The firepower of the Vietnamese army is indeed stronger than ours, so there is no need to mention the machine gun. They each have a AK47. This thing is a world-recognized good gun. It has a fully automatic rifle with a capacity of 30 rounds, and it can be a shuttle for one shot. However, our army is still using the Type 56 semi-automatic, and the capacity of only ten rounds. The gap between them is not enough to know which one is better or worse.

But AK47 also has a disadvantage, that is, it is difficult to hit the target accurately if it exceeds 300 meters. In addition, its recoil is strong and its muzzle jumps severely, which makes it very low shooting accuracy when shooting continuously. It can almost be said that even if this gun falls into the hands of a sharpshooter, it will have to rely on luck to hit the target 300 meters away.

I have a deep understanding of this. I remember when I was in the recruit battalion, I took a Type 56 submachine gun and tried it (The Type 56 submachine gun is a counterfeit AK47, and the performance is not much different in various aspects). The first shot was fine, but I didn't even know where the last few shots went. This is also the reason why I chose the 56 and a half instead of the Type 56 submachine gun.

Actually, as a platoon leader, I am already qualified to use the Type 56 submachine gun, but I don’t like that uncertain feeling, and I don’t think any sniper will like it.

Because we knew the shortcomings of AK47, we stopped moving forward when we attacked more than 300 meters away from the enemy's top position. The soldiers followed my order and spread out to dig foxholes under the cover of mortars, machine guns and rocket launchers. It seemed easy for the soldiers to do this. First, because they had done such training a lot in the recruits, and second, there were craters everywhere on the position, and as long as they were slightly trimmed with engineer shovels, it would be a good position.

With a distance of more than 300 meters, the AK47 in the Vietnamese army seemed to be unable to play any role. Although bullets were flying everywhere on our heads, they were not accurate. On the contrary, the 56 and a half in our hands could fully utilize the characteristics of high shooting accuracy and relatively long range.

In addition, there is a long magazine at the bottom of the ak47, which determines that the Vietnamese army must have a move to step forward and emerge from the trench when shooting. So this is a bargain. I just need to hold a rifle and wait quietly in the trench, waiting for the Vietnamese army to emerge, and then use bullets to "bang..." to knock them down like a gopher.

Two shots of "Bang bang!", two more Vietnamese soldiers fell under my gun.

I could feel that they cooperated with each other, one left and one right apart, but they were almost out of their heads to shoot at the same time. The area they exposed was not large, just a flat straw hat-like helmet, but this was enough for me, and two bullets easily knocked them to the ground.

After hitting, I immediately put away my rifle and retracted my head, and pulled down Hu Shaowen, who was still staring blankly on it.

After fighting a few enemies in Ye Zhan, there may be no need to change positions, and even if you have a fire hat, you can almost say you don’t have to worry about this. But it’s different during the day. Hitting two targets means exposing your position. If you don’t hide it, it seems like you are waiting to die.

Sure enough, I had just retracted my head and the dense bullets were flying towards us like raindrops. Above my head was the roar of bullets flying in the air, in front of the position was the roar of bullets hitting the soil, stone powder and soil blocks were flying everywhere, and everything around seemed to be boiling.

"Platform leader!" Hu Shaowen looked at me blankly, his eyes full of admiration: "You are fighting so accurately! The enemy has not even had time..."

"Boom..." Two mortar shells fell around us, and without thinking, I pressed Hu Shaowen into the soil.

After the sound of cannons, I patted the dust on my head. Hu Shaowen also got up and spitted a few times, cursing the damn Yue Japanese. Only then did I feel relieved, at least he was still alive, and he was not scared to speak.

I observed the surrounding terrain as fast as possible and wanted to find a place to transfer, but unfortunately I found that as soon as I went out, I would expose myself to the enemy's gun. This is the biggest disadvantage of daytime combat, and it is really inconvenient to change positions. I think the Vietnamese army had discovered me as a sniper at this time, so they "care for me" in this direction, so they not only deal with machine guns but also mortars.

Machine guns can seal us tightly in bunkers, and then slowly blow up the mortars... In other words, no matter how powerful I am, it is only a matter of time before I die here...

Fortunately, I am not alone. After the soldiers discovered my danger, machine guns, rifles, mortars and other weapons stepped up their shooting at the enemy's positions, and soon they successfully transferred the enemy's firepower. This fully demonstrates that a person's power on the battlefield is very limited, and only cooperation can he have combat effectiveness, especially during the day.

"Let's go!" While the machine gun was moving, I shouted at Hu Shaowen and rushed to another bullet crater. I stayed in the bullet crater for half a minute, jumped up again and ran for a few steps and entered another hidden point. The bullets kept roaring beside us, roaring at our feet, but fortunately, neither Hu Shaowen nor me was injured.

The purpose of doing this is to confuse the eyes of the Vietnamese army. If someone stares at me, a "sniper", then at least three hiding places may be where the "sniper" is located. Because there are people at each hiding place, they cannot determine whether the "sniper" is running out of the hiding place.

"Hey, hey..." When I heard the call, I realized that I had accidentally gotten into the vicinity of the cover point of Company Commander Li. At this time, he was shouting loudly at the walkie-talkie behind a big stone: "Hey, we were blocked by the enemy! The enemy's firepower is very strong, and all three companies were suppressed! What? Take it down immediately? There is difficulty! Yes! Yes!"

Commander Li hung up the phone in anger. He saw me nearby and climbed over without saying a word: "Planer Commander Cui! The superior ordered us to capture the 386th Highland immediately, otherwise it might affect the interspersed mission of our entire regiment!"

"Catch it right away? How to attack?" I replied with some dissatisfaction: "Would we use our lives to pile up?"

In fact, we had the upper hand at this time. Although the quality of the Vietnamese army was high, they were not prepared for our cannons for half an hour. The number of people was no longer large. Now we have an absolute advantage in the number of people. Using the characteristics of 56 and a half range to shoot against the enemy, the enemy would collapse soon. But now the superiors asked us to attack... Isn't that just let us use our bodies to hit the enemy's bullets?

"There's no way!" Commander Li lost his previous temper and had a little request in his eyes: "This is for the task of the entire regiment. If we do not complete the task on time, it may even affect the strategy of the entire army!"

"Yeah!" I nodded, I understand this principle. What I was dissatisfied with was that my superiors did not formulate combat plans according to the actual situation. Every deficit in combat plans must be filled with the lives of countless warriors.

I have heard of this in modern times. It is said that some troops are required to marching 80 kilometers 24 hours a day. Even if they marching five kilometers per hour, they can only marches more than one hundred kilometers 24 hours a day. What's more, the interspersed troops are not familiar with the terrain, and they are likely to encounter attacks, blocking, and harassment by the Vietnamese army during the interspersion... So this mission is simply a day of the night for the combat troops, but the superiors waved their hands easily: "Order the troops to complete the mission resolutely!"

This is also reflected in the movie "The Wreath Under the Mountain". The company in the film also accepted an almost unfinished interspersive task. As a result, the company lost all the load, and a soldier was exhausted to barely reach the destination!

This may be the kind of unrealistic and exaggerated thing that ten years of *** brought us! So some people say that our army walked onto the battlefield with ten years of *** injuries. I think this sentence is correct at all. This kind of injury is not only reflected in the roughness of the weapons in our hands, but also the commander of the upper level is very happy to make achievements and formulate a combat plan regardless of the actual situation!

What I don’t know is that the task I am accepting now is just a beginning, a very small beginning!

"How is it? Do you have confidence?" Seeing that I was silent, Corps Li asked afterwards.

Although Corps Li said this, I saw helplessness in his eyes.

I know that since the first failure in charge, Commander Li has truly realized what war is, and he truly understood that war is not just about having confidence and enlightenment!

But this is not his fault, because I know he is also on orders! It seems that no one who firmly executes orders on the battlefield is wrong!

But... I have to be responsible for the lives of the warriors!

I looked up at the sunshine in Dongfang, gritted my teeth and said, "Wait a little longer!"

A trace of doubt flashed across Captain Li's face, and he couldn't help but ask: "What's the difference between waiting for a fight and now?"

"Yes!" After saying that, I ignored Captain Li, pulled out the walkie-talkie that was not on his waist and gave an order: "The second row withdraws from the battle and retreats to the second line. The first row and the third row make up the gap in the second row, and continue to restrain the enemy's firepower in the front!"

"yes!"

"yes!"

...

The walkie-talkie came from the walkie-talkie, and Li Shuibo and Yang Songjian's answers were very straightforward.

Commander Li couldn't help but smile bitterly. Although he had known that this company was actually under my control, he did not expect that it had reached this point. However, he still acquiesced to my command. After all, he was very clear that if he was commanding this battle, the current Fifth Company would probably be like the other two companies, half of the people would lie on the battlefield.

The Vietnamese army was obviously insufficient, and the three companies on the front line were hard to distinguish, so we had no time to take care of us, which made us easily retreat from high ground.

But when I returned to the grass on the second line, I encountered some trouble. A young man in a cadre uniform stopped us with a pistol, shouting at us very arrogantly: "What's going on? Why don't you attack? Want to be a deserter? Let me go up! Otherwise I..."

Without saying a word, I gave this guy a butt stock, and the guy fell to the ground and blew his anger. Later I found out that he was the deputy battalion commander of our battalion, and he was accompanying the regiment commander to the front line to observe the enemy situation...

"What are you doing!"

"Don't move!"

...

Several soldiers suddenly stood up from the grass, holding all the 56-type submachine guns, pointing at me without exception. The leader was a bearded man in cadre uniforms, with a pistol on his waist, and his face was thick and heavy, and he knew that he was not a "good guy". At this time, he was staring at me with a pair of hungry tiger-like eyes.

The soldiers under my command were not easy to mess with. When they saw the soldiers pointing guns at me, they surrounded them in the middle, regardless of who they were.

"Put down the gun!" I said to the soldiers.

I don't care who these people in front of me are. I just don't want to cause greater misunderstandings and more trouble. In the same room on the battlefield, it is a matter of the relatives' pain and the enemy's happiness.

So I pointed to the warrior on the ground who had just been knocked out by me, and said in the bearded gaze: "We are fighting, military information is urgent, and anyone who hinders our actions will knock him down without hesitation. If you want to stop me, I will also do it. If you don't believe me, you can try it!"

The bearded man squinted his eyes and stared at me for a while before waved to his subordinates, looked at me with interest, and said, "I will not interfere with your battle, but you can always look around!"

"Yes!" I smiled: "As long as you are not spies from Vietnamese devils!"

"You..." A soldier behind the bearded man seemed a little dissatisfied and wanted to come up to argue with me, but he was soon stopped by the bearded man.

I ignored them and turned around and attracted Li Shuibo and several squad leaders to circle in the thatch, and then grabbed a stone and placed it on the ground: "This is the 386 Heights, our three companies are here, and there is also a fierce battle with the enemy! Now the superiors have given us the order of death, and we must conquer the 386 Heights immediately! To complete this task, a strong attack is not possible! A surprise soldier must go around the rear of the 386 Heights to give them a knife!"

"Does the platoon leader want to take us around the high ground?" Li Shuibo asked.

"Yes!" I nodded.

"But there is a large area of fields to the west, which will inevitably delay our army's actions!" Li Shuibo frowned and said, "If we forcefully break through, we are afraid that the entire army will be wiped out before we reach the rear of the enemy!"

Li Shuibo's analysis is very correct, which also shows that he is a smart person, but he still did not expect what I thought.

"I didn't say we were going around from the west..."

"What?" Li Shuibo and several squad leaders looked at each other in horror, and even the bearded man standing behind me exclaimed, which was obviously beyond his expectations.

Li Shuibo hesitated for a moment and asked with confusion: "That's from the east? But there is only a narrow valley in the east. The enemy just needs to throw grenades at the foot of the mountain..."

"Just because there is only one narrow valley to walk, I have to walk here!" I pointed to a corner on the stone and said, "The enemy's top position is very small on this side of the narrow valley, and they didn't expect that we would break into this place of death, so there are definitely not many troops distributed here. As long as we concentrate mortars and suddenly blast them, and at the same time quickly pass through the narrow valley. As long as we cooperate well with the mortars, a platoon of troops can pass through the narrow valley before the enemy can react and become a surprise soldier behind them!"

I heard the bearded man behind me again, and I couldn't help but turn around and look at him dissatisfiedly. This guy was also fun, picked up his fist and apologized to me, signaling me not to worry about him and continue talking.

I turned my head and continued to say to the soldiers: "More importantly, I think the reason why the Vietnamese army has survived until now is because they use the 'fueling tactic', which is to place the main force on the back slope, and then continue to increase troops on the top of the mountain like adding oil..."

"Oh!" After listening to my words, the soldiers understood:

"No wonder we can't finish it after fighting so much. It turns out that there is this tactic!"

"It's really like adding fuel!"

...

"So..." I glanced at the soldiers and gritted my teeth and said, "We will intersperse this time. It is very likely that we will encounter more Vietnamese devils than us. They are all veterans who have fought for several years. Are you afraid of comrades?"

"Not afraid!"

"Not afraid!"

...

Several squad leaders replied.

Li Shuibo even showed even more fierce eyes: "I'm afraid that they will not die, just fight now!"

I looked up at the sky and said, "No, wait a little longer!"

"Wait a little longer?" Li Shuibo and several squad leaders looked at each other.

I know why they are so strange. They are thinking about the same problem with Captain Li, which is: "What's the difference between fighting now and fighting later?"

There are indeed differences. I pointed to the rising sun in the east: "The sun will be sufficient later. The soldiers should make good use of this when they penetrate the past. When they penetrate the past, they must remember to turn the sun and unleash their troops. The enemy is facing the sun, and the ak47 in their hands is not accurate, so as long as the comrades are not panicked and cooperate well, they will definitely win this battle!"
