After Raptor Airways completed the reorganization of its core leadership, except for all security personnel being replaced by Zhang Meng's subordinates, no other departments were adjusted. Instead, because Zhang Meng's investment of $10 million has enabled the company to quickly introduce the most advanced equipment, technology and cutting-edge talents in Europe to create their dream aircraft.
The reason why advanced equipment and technology were introduced from Europe was because during World War I, few US aircraft were designed in Europe, such as fighter jets, such as France's SPADS.13 and Nieuport17.
In the 1920s and 1930s between the two wars, European aviation technology continued to lead, especially Germany and Britain. Although the United States established the National Aviation Advisory Committee (NACA, the predecessor of today's NASA) in 1915 and invented engine enclosures and pitch propellers, in terms of the fighter jet field, which represents the forefront of aviation technology, American aviation technology even lags behind Japan, so that during the Pearl Harbor incident, the United States did not technically surpass Japan's "zero" fighter jets.
Fighters represent the forefront of aviation technology. In the 20s and 30s, the domestic fighter market in the United States was very small, and the aircraft company's batch of fighter jets was only a few dozen. In 1924, only 80 of the more than 1,400 aircraft of the US Army Air Force were fighter jets. The US fighter market in the 20s and 30s was basically shared by Curtis and Boeing. Its biplane, an open cockpit like a convertible car, and a fixed landing gear configuration that cannot be retracted and placed became the standard model.
This type of aircraft standard is already behind the ranks of elimination in Europe.
In this case, if small and medium-sized aircraft companies like Raptor want to break the monopoly of Curtis and Boeing and to surpass them to open up the US market, they must introduce more advanced technologies, equipment and talents from Europe.
Zhang Meng knew that even without his participation, Martin, MacDonald, and Bell would do that, and would surpass Curtis and Boeing in one fell swoop in ten years and become the top aircraft manufacturing company in the United States and even the world.
Zhang Meng also knew that the fighter jets, bombers and helicopters designed by these people in the future will shock the world. During World War II, Boeing's monopoly on the United States and became the main aircraft manufacturing company of the US Air Force, and has been dominating and becoming a world-class aircraft manufacturing company for the enduring time.
Now Zhang Meng has included them in the Raptor Airline, with the purpose of letting them get into the role in advance, avoid detours, and become the strongest support for the Tang Empire Air Force to dominate the world in the future.
In terms of introducing advanced European aircraft manufacturing technology, Zhang Meng pointed out the direction for them.
Zhang Meng knew that the current leaders in the world's aviation field are the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan. These three countries are far ahead of other countries in aircraft design and manufacturing, engine research and development and production. Before World War II, the three most powerful fighter jets in the world were the Spitfire from the United Kingdom, the BF-109 from Germany, and the Zero from Japan.
The Japanese are good at absorbing advanced Western technologies. When they surpass their teachers, they will never tell them advanced technologies.
Especially aviation technology, the Japanese have long realized the importance of aircraft in future wars. They built the world's first standard aircraft carrier, the Fengxiang, in 1922. It can be seen that their importance to the aviation field is based on the United States as the main imaginary enemy. Therefore, it is impossible for Zhang Meng to obtain aviation technology from Japan.
Although I can't get the key engine technology of Japanese aircraft, I believe that as long as I prepare in advance, it is not impossible to defeat Zero fighter jets in the future.
Therefore, Zhang Meng was not discouraged, but instead actively guided Raptor General Manager Martin to go to the United Kingdom and Germany in Europe to negotiate with the British Rolls-Royce and the Bavarian aircraft manufacturer in Germany to introduce their aircraft design and core technologies for aircraft engines.
Among them, the Grayback Falcon 63 water-cooled aviation engine produced by Rolls-Royce, the UK and the S.6 racing aircraft design drawings designed by the famous aircraft designer Reginald Mitchell, as well as the core technology of the DB600A aircraft engine of Daimler-Benz in Germany and the production and processing technology of the aero alloy aluminum material of the Bavarian aircraft manufacturer.
Zhang Meng knew that these technologies were the core key technologies of the future British Air Force's main Spitfire fighter and the Luftwaffe BF109 fighter. If these two World War II-class fighter jets that have advantages and lengths are concentrated together to develop a new fighter, then there will be no problem in fighting against the Japanese Zero fighter.
In the late 1920s, flying back and forth over the Atlantic Ocean was undoubtedly a fresh and noble thing.
Although Martin was driven out of the position of boss, he found that his new boss seemed to be not ordinary rich. He was not willing to be ordered by Zhang Meng to go to Europe to discuss business in person, but as soon as he heard that there was a special plane for him to use, he immediately agreed.
Undoubtedly, even though Martin was the boss of the aircraft company before, he had never enjoyed the treatment of a Boeing 247D as a special official plane.
It's really too luxurious!
That’s right! Looking around the world, there are only a handful of people who use Boeing 247D as a special plane!
He Martin is honored to be a part of it!
For a moment, Martin thanked Zhang Meng for being his boss, which was so powerful.
Also accompanying McDonald and Bell, they were already very happy as chief engineers, and they were able to use the Boeing 247D as a business plane. Their happiness was no less than that of newlyweds entering the bridal chamber.
Of course, they didn't know their boss Zhang Meng's mood at the moment. He was in pain and joy, and the latter was temporarily greater than the former.
However, Zhang Meng's efforts will be rewarded.
Martin, McDonald and Bell and his group immediately launched an action after arriving in Europe. They successively negotiated technology introduction with Rolls-Royce, Daimler-Benz, Bavarian aircraft manufacturer, and Reginald Mitchell aircraft designers according to the goals guided by Zhang Meng.
Among them, the negotiations on the synthesis of aerospace alloy aluminum materials of Daimler-Benz and the production and processing technology of the Bavarian aircraft manufacturer were relatively smooth. Because Germany was under strict monitoring of the Versailles Peace Treaty, the Weimar Republic did not dare to breach the contract, so it strictly controlled the major military-industrial enterprises in Germany, and strictly implemented the provisions of the Peace Treaty Germany shall not own the navy and air force, nor shall it import and export weapons.
German military-industrial enterprises cannot get military orders, which is already a heavy blow to them, and it is undoubtedly a step further. They have to use civilian projects to secretly develop weapons and equipment and carefully export them for foreign exchange. After all, enterprises want to make money by making money, but unfortunately the great powers have to add an additional 26% mandatory charge to them, which makes their profits almost zero.
Under this situation, German military-industrial enterprises are undoubtedly going crazy, so it is undoubtedly a pleasure for some people to buy their technology. At the same time, Zhang Meng is willing to spend money, so the transaction with the Germans was soon completed. Mercedes-Benz's DB600A aircraft engine core technology and the high-strength thin plate aviation alloy aluminum material production and precision die-casting processing technology of the Bavarian aircraft manufacturer were eventually transferred to Raptor Airlines for package prices of US$3.45 million and US$3.22 million respectively. The packages were accompanied by a production line equipment, which was transported to Datang by the Germans, and professionals were sent to install and teach installation and production technology.
The British Rolls-Royce is more cautious. After dozens of rounds of repeated bargaining negotiations, Rolls-Roycece finally decided to transfer the core technology of the Greyback Falcon 60 water-cooled aircraft engine they developed to Raptor Airlines. The Greyback Falcon 63 aircraft engine they are testing refused to transfer the technology, but Raptor Airlines can purchase relevant production licenses.
To this end, Raptor Airlines spent an additional $600,000 to purchase a production license for the Grayback Falcon 63 aircraft engine.
However, the money was quickly found from the famous aircraft designer Reginald Mitchell, who originally designed the design drawings of the S.6 racing aircraft that he decided not to sell.
But Zhang Meng never got what he wanted, so he simply sent the Blue Fox Special Service team to take Mitchell back to Chang'an and put him under house arrest. The S.6 racing aircraft he designed was handed over to Raptor Airlines, and was studied in detail by McDonald and Bell.
A month later, Raptor Airways took out the design drawings of the first fighter since its establishment, which basically followed the requirements put forward by Zhang Meng, that is, the high flight speed, high cruising speed, high climb rate, and large range performance of future Spitfire fighters, and the powerful firepower of future BF109 fighters, a single wing with all-metal precision die-cast alloy aluminum shell, and a propeller aircraft that can accommodate the landing gear.
Since the prototype has not been produced and has not been tested for flight tests, it is not known how it performs.
