Chapter 35: Clearing Inventory(1/2)

The "Snowy Owl" troops and the "October-8MG" fleet of the Gaoji Kingdom announced the official start of the first round of aerial strike operations.

Within about an hour, hundreds of coalition fighters and attack aircraft flocked in, two-thirds of which flew to Baghdad.

This is also the key to the first round of attacks.

When formulating the plan, some staff members, especially those of the allies, proposed that since the main purpose is to liberate Kuwait, they should hit the target of attacking Kuwait and southern Iraq, and there is no need to spend too much military force in the direction of Baghdad.

Obviously, Ding Zhennan did not listen to these suggestions at all.

He was too lazy to explain to his Allies' staff.

Any explanation?

The Iraqi army that invaded Kuwait fought on its back and did not defeat Iraq's military system. How could it be possible to eliminate the Iraqi army that invaded Kuwait?

Even if you ignore it now and enter the stage of ground war, you still have to face this problem.

Before this, that is, the air strike stage, we should consider it from the perspective of the overall battle situation, rather than just focusing on the local point.

With the goal of defeating Iraq's military system, we should focus on baghdad!

This tactical idea that starts from the overall situation is common knowledge in the Imperial Army, and officers who graduated from regular military academies all have this understanding.

Looking back, the same is true for the Boei War back then.

If there is any difference, it is only limited by technical means, the Imperial Army is unable to complete all combat missions through high-intensity and high-efficiency aerial strikes.

This combat method that focuses on air strikes has a huge impact on tactics.

Simply put, the main task of the first round of strikes is actually to paralyze the Iraqi Air Force, which is to seize absolute air supremacy.

The result is that 80% of the more than 400 targets locked in the first round of strikes were air bases and air defense positions.

After the battle began, Ding Zhennan never left the command center.

Subsequently, we received war reports from various troops one after another, to be precise, reports after completing the strike operation.

There are early warning command aircraft and several auxiliary aircraft dedicated to communication relays. There is no problem of waiting until the combat aircraft returns to the base before receiving the message.

According to the arrangement, all combat troops must report immediately after completing the attack mission.

In this way, a dedicated reconnaissance aircraft can be arranged to perform screening tasks and confirm whether it is necessary to conduct additional strikes in the next round, or in the future.

Although it is only a unilateral report and has not obtained a more reliable investigation report, the crackdown efficiency is still far beyond previous estimates.

The first few aircraft groups have a bomb hit rate of more than 70%, and the ratio of destroying and paralysis to targets is about 80%.

This is a "ideal" result.

In the previous few wars, the strike efficiency of tactical aviation was up to 40%, and it would be great if the probability of paralysis and destruction of the target could reach 50%.

In addition, the combat loss rate is also lower than expected.

Ten of the 12 "Occurrence-8MG" attacked the air force base in the suburbs of Baghdad have been in contact with the base. One of them was hit by anti-aircraft artillery and may be scrapped after returning. Even if the two of them were not contacted were shot down, the combat loss rate was within an acceptable range.

Previously, Ding Zhennan was mentally prepared to lose 5 to 7 attack aircraft for this air force base!

It was not until after 3 a.m. that I received the first real "war report".

Two "War-11B" carrying out the air control mission left western Baghdad and intercepted two Iraqi fighter jets flying from the north.

Before the "War-11B" opened fire, the two Iraqi fighters turned and flew away.

According to the signal intercepted by the early warning command aircraft, to be precise, the flight speed of the enemy aircraft was measured is likely to be two MG-25 fighter jets introduced from the Democratic Republic of Luosha.

Of course, it is an interceptor to be precise.

The key is that the speed of these two enemy aircraft reached Mach 2.5 when they detached!

That's why the two "War-11Bs" had completed acceleration, the two Iraqi fighters flew out of the detection range of the early warning command aircraft.

Among the Iraqi Air Force fighter jets, only the MG-25 can fly so fast.

However, this is just a small episode.

The air battle officially started after more than an hour.

However, the protagonist is the navy's carrier-based fighter jet.

Over the Posa Bay east of Basra, two "War-9Bs" from the "Xue Yuanzheng" aircraft carrier battle group used long-range missiles to intercept two Iraqi fighters trying to attack attack aircraft. According to the carrier-based early warning aircraft report, it should be two MG-23 fighters deployed in the southern region.

Because they were unable to turn and avoid it in time, or they didn't know that they had been locked, all these two MG-23s were shot down.

This doesn't need to be surprising either.

According to the mission assignment, the Joint Force Command divided Iraq into three theaters, north, middle and south, and the air control missions in the theaters in the southern theater were mainly undertaken by the Navy.

In the words of Ding Zhennan, the navy's aircraft carrier is equipped with more than 100 "War-9A/B" heavy carrier-based fighters, and such fighters cannot be mounted on bombs to perform bombing missions. They cannot be all idle, so they have to arrange air control missions for the naval aviation.

The key is that the Air Force cannot deploy more air-control fighters to the front line.

In fact, this is also the first batch of achievements achieved by the Imperial Navy's carrier-based aviation force after the Boei War!

The carrier-based aircraft dispatched by the navy mainly bombed the outskirts of Basra and the Iraqi troops invading Kuwait. Only a few "Ocamp-5" with a sufficiently large combat radius flew to Baghdad, and they also mainly bombed secondary targets to reduce the combat loss rate as much as possible.

Among the combat aircraft participating in the war, the tactical aircraft that served the longest time was the "Occasion-5" of the Imperial Navy.

In fact, it can be seen from the number.

If the carrier-based aircraft project of "Ocamp-8" had not failed in the middle of the process, it was actually not completing the weight reduction indicators, and the "Ocamp-5" retreated 20 years ago.

According to the naval plan, the "Ocamp-5" will need to fight for at least 10 years. Only when the "Ocamp-X" project is ripe, can it gloriously retreat to the second line. As for the "War-12" that the Navy attaches great importance to, it replaces the "Ocamp-6" light attack aircraft, which is not qualified to replace the heavy attack aircraft.

Fortunately, the Imperial Army has already completed the integration of the command system, and the Air Force's early warning command aircraft can provide support for the Navy's carrier-based aircraft.

He stayed until dawn. After receiving the final summary report, Ding Zhennan returned to the dormitory to rest.

The first round of bombing was declared over at 4:30 am. It was only after the last batch of combat aircraft carrying out the bombing mission returned to the "Zhu Shijian" aircraft carrier around 5:30 am. The Joint Force Command came up with a summary report.

According to preliminary statistics, after the "Kicking the Door Operation", the efficiency of the first round of aerial strikes reached 84%. Among the 422 targets that were calibrated, 234 were completely destroyed or seriously damaged, and the other 86 were paralyzed, and 33 were basically lost to their operating capabilities.

The specific results of the battle need to be confirmed after the reconnaissance aircraft returns, and there must be certain differences.

What Ding Zhennan cares about is actually combat losses.

However, this is also the least worrying thing.

Among all the combat aircraft participating in the combat operations, only 17 did not return or contact the rear. Because the maximum battery life of the tactical aircraft has exceeded, it is reasonable to believe that these 17 combat aircraft were shot down or crashed over Iraq.

In addition, there are 11 combat aircraft returning with injuries, and the possibility of being scrapped is very high.

After returning to the fleet, five carrier-based aircraft were unable to land safely due to failure or damage. Three of them had already landed in an emergency, and the other two flew to Qatar Air Force Base.

Even if all of them were included, only 33 combat aircraft were lost in total, of which 17 were directly damaged.

For the first round of assaults that need to confront the enemy's air defense system, this loss is not serious at all, and it can be said to be very low!

Before this, Ding Zhennan believed that the first round of assault would lose 40 to 50 combat aircraft.

The outside world once believed that the joint forces would lose 100 aircraft on the first day of the war, and at least 80 aircraft!

In any case, Iraq has the most stringent air defense system in the Posa Bay area, and the performance of major air defense weapons, especially air defense missiles, is not bad.

Of course, the specific battle report will not be obtained until the afternoon.

However, the air strike did not end there.

When Ding Zhennan went to sleep, the second round of aerial assault had already begun.

However, this time it was not a tactical aircraft or an aircraft.

Around dawn, more than 60 strategic bombers took off from the empire, the air base of Pakistani Railway, and the Digo Military Base in the central Fanyan Ocean. After more than 8 hours and short 3 hours of flight, all arrived at the scheduled airspace over the Mua Sea.

Subsequently, 62 bombers divided into 4 formations dropped their cruise missiles in turn.

A total of 68 bombers were planned to be dispatched, of which 2 failed to take off, and the other 4 returned due to failure shortly after takeoff.

However, when planning, I had already considered these things, so I arranged a few more bombers.

In just over 20 minutes, these bombers dropped nearly 700 "Snake Spear" cruise missiles.

It has been mentioned before that when developing the "Huaji", it was in conflict with the Navy on issues such as external dimensions, and the Army supported the Navy's plan, so the Air Force withdrew from the "Huaji" project, took the fund from the Ministry of National Defense to start a new job, and invested in the development of a special air-launched cruise missile.

This air-launched cruise missile is the "KD-20" called "Snake Spear".

In fact, the most important difference between "snake spear" and "painted halberd" is the external size.

Because it is an air-launched type, there is no need to consider the issue of acceleration after launch, so the "Snake Spear" does not have a rocket booster, which greatly reduces the length.

To be precise, the space originally equipped with rocket boosters is actually used to increase the fuel tank capacity and expand the warhead.

In addition, in order to cooperate with the bomber's revolver mount, the "Snake Spear" has undergone necessary repairs.

To put it simply, the cross-section of the "Snake Spear" bullet body is actually an isosceles trapezoid with a certain amplitude on both sides of the upper and lower sides, and it can also be said to be a fan shape that cuts off the center. The biggest advantage of doing so is that it can hang a revolver hanger on 6 missiles without increasing space.

This modification allows the "snake spear" to use rotating and folding elastic wings.

In addition, there is another benefit that no one expected.

The RCS value and radar reflection cross-sectional area of the "Snake Spear" are about one order of magnitude lower than the "Hua Ji" using a cylindrical bullet body!

That's why the Imperial Air Force declared the "Snake Spear" the world's first stealth cruise missile.

In fact, this is actually boasting.
