Volume 7 Peninsula Smoke Chapter 138 Absolute firepower advantage

January 11, 25, at 4:30 am...

The 2476 large-caliber howitzers and 864 long-range rocket launchers of 15 direct artillery brigades deployed along the 38th Line roared at the same time, and threw 20,000 shells and 18,000 rockets at the South Korean military defense positions south of the 38th Line within 15 minutes. Then, at the speed of 120,000 shells and rockets were fired for 2 hours at 120,000 shells every 30 minutes. The shelling continued until 7:15, which was at dawn.

"God of War" opened the curtain of the third battle with a wonderful and unparalleled majestic performance.

In the 165-minute shelling, a total of ammunition was dropped, equivalent to the carrying capacity of 50,000 tonnes of wheels, or 2,050 trains with buzzers; the average ammunition was dropped per minute was close to 300, which was equivalent to dispatching 12 H-9 bombers full of bombs per minute, or 50 J-15 series fighter jets full of bombs. If calculated based on the amount of ammunition thrown per unit time, this shelling was definitely the "world's best" after World War II.

In fact, it was not the artillery that fired the first shot.

Long before the artillery force showed its power, the Air Force and HNA were engaged in the battle.

In addition to the battle to seize air supremacy, the first thing that was dispatched was the Air Force and HNA bombers, and not the H-99, but the H-6m that was about to be retired. What is even more incredible is that the H-6m uses not air-launched cruise missiles and gliding guided bombs, but ordinary aviation bombs!

The development of the h-99 was successfully carried out, and the Republic Air Force and HNA successively eliminated the H-66 series bombers that had been in service for more than half a century.

Because the production capacity of h-99 cannot be increased, the price cannot be reduced, because the Air Force and HNA did not immediately eliminate all h-6m but retained part of it. Most of them were allocated to second-line troops for teaching and training, and a small part was converted into various test aircraft. For example, when developing h-99, 2h-6m was equipped with turbofan engines developed for h-9, and 2h-6m was equipped with electronic equipment.

The h-6m is enough to play after more than 60 years of service, mainly because South Korea has lost its national air defense capabilities.

During the "State Island Battle", the Air Force and HNA had only one mission: to seize absolute air supremacy on the Korean Peninsula.

Air and HNA not only concentrated their efforts to attack the South Korean Air Force, but repeatedly bombed South Korean air force bases. They also focused on bombing South Korea's national air defense systems.

In order to minimize the air defense capabilities of the South Korean military and local governments, the Air Force and HNA formed a "Wild? Rat" force.

To be precise, it should be the "air defense and suppression force". "Wild Weasel" is the name of the US Air Force for the air force to perform air defense and suppression missions.

Although "air defense suppression" is a very dangerous task, the rewards are very generous.

As long as the enemy's air defense capabilities are destroyed, fighter jets can freely enter and exit the enemy's sky and use all means to attack the enemy's ground forces.

Performing air defense suppression missions does not require too advanced fighter jets, but advanced combat systems.

The DJ-11b of the army and the DJ-13b of HNA were successfully completed with the third battle. When the third battle started, all the South Korean army's long-range air defense alert radars, air search radars, theater air defense systems, long-range air defense systems, and most military-level mobile air defense systems suffered devastating blows.

In the words of Air Force Commander Yan Yuqing: When the H-6m participated in the war, the South Korean army only had shoulder-mounted air defense missiles!

Although the situation was not so extreme, the actual situation was not much different. By the early morning of the 11th, no air defense weapon in the South Korean army could pose a threat to combat institutions above 5 meters.

Let h-6m come on the stage and let this veteran who has defended the Republic's airspace for more than 60 years perform a curtain call, and can consume a large amount of inventory ammunition that is about to exceed the "shelf life", especially those aviation bombs that are about to be eliminated. Therefore, h-6m uses aviation bombs without carrying advanced ammunition!

A gorgeous, terrifying bombardment.

The first thing that was attacked was Kaesong, which was stationed nearly 1 Korean army. 60h-6m lined up in dense formations, dropping 540 tons of aviation bombs at a height of 5,500 meters, and blowing the city about a kilometer east of Kaesong into flat ground. In the entire third battle -6m attacked at a speed of 2 times a day, dropping hundreds or thousands of tons of bombs to the Korean army positions in Kaesong, Seoul, Incheon, Wonju, Suwon and other places. Before the end of the third battle, h-6m attacked continuously with extremely high strength, and dropped the last batch of inventory of ammunition to the Korean army positions in Cheongju.

I'm afraid no one can tell what the bombing effect of h--6m is.

After the war, when the Republic Army and the Korean army cleared the battlefield, they found several unexploded aviation bombs. During the entire battle, the H-6m dropped a total of 120,000 250-gram-level aviation bombs and 500-kilogram-level aviation bombs, which means that about 25% of the bombs did not explode!

From a purely military perspective, the impact of "carpet bombing" is not obvious.

The South Korean army died in the H-66m bombing, and there were only about 10,000 wounded.

From another perspective, "carpet bombing" is an ideal means to destroy the morale and fighting spirit of the Korean army. Because they could not bear the fear caused by "carpet bombing", tens of thousands of Korean troops surrendered on the battlefield.

For civilians, "carpet bombing" is definitely a "humanitarian disaster."

According to the "War Investigation Report" which greatly shrank after the war,

According to the data given, 542,811 people died in Seoul alone, and 2.5 million people lost their homes. According to the assessment data released by the US government, large-scale bombing using ordinary bombs took away at least 250,000 South Korean civilians' lives, resulting in 12.5 million Koreans becoming war refugees.

Although the Republic has never admitted to deliberately opening fire on civilians during the Peninsula War, in 2045, 20 years after the end of the Peninsula War, the Republic gradually lifted the relevant files one after another, and then apologized in an unofficial form to North Korean friends who were hurt in the war and promised to provide reasonable economic compensation to the victims of the war.

Because the sealing period of the "Strategic Bombing" related archives is 1 year. No one can say clearly whether the top leaders of the Republic ordered strategic aviation troops to bomb civilian targets in the third battle.

h-6m performs the "carpet bombing" task, and h-99 performs the "acupuncture bombing" task.

Because it is confirmed that Japan will not participate in the war, the H-99 aircraft fleet that had previously performed the "Strategic Patrol" mission participated in the war again, and became the most ideal "air strike platform" with its missile load capacity far exceeding the tactical fighter jets.

Like the H-6m using ordinary aviation, the H-9 does not use expensive cruise missiles, but cheaper guided bombs.

At the beginning of the battle, the main task of -99 was to bomb the command and communication facilities of the South Korean army, to attack the command capabilities of the South Korean army, and to weaken the combat effectiveness of the South Korean army.

Subsequently, the h-99's mission changed and began to perform the "battlefield call" mission.

"Battlefield Call" is the nickname given by the Army for "battlefield support". When performing this mission, h-99 carries bombs and patrols near the front line. After receiving an air support request from ground troops, they immediately drop bombs according to the battlefield information provided by ground troops or information provided by reconnaissance aircraft.

The h-99's air stagnation capability and bomb loading capability make it an ideal model for performing this task.

If tactical fighter jets perform "battlefield call" missions, three echelons of 12j-14 or 18j-15 are required to match one h-99.

The color performance of h-99 left a very deep impression on the Army.

In the subsequent battle, many army commanders even called for air support provided by H-99!

At the beginning of the battle, the tactical fighter that acted as a "vanguard" before landed behind.

During the bombing in the previous few hours, the main targets of fighter jets were not military targets, such as bridges, tunnels, railway stations, material transfer centers, and other railway and highway transportation infrastructure.

Because the infrastructure is relatively scattered, high-precision laser-guided munitions are needed to use so that the combat efficiency of bombers is not as good as that of fighter jets.

Just like the Air Force and HNA arrangements, the South Korean Air Force poses no threat to the bombing operation.

In the early morning of the 11th, the army and HNA dispatched a total of 24j-14 series fighter jets of two squadrons to perform air control missions. After dawn, HNA's 12j-14b mounted a bomb to perform bombing missions, leaving only the Air Force's 12j-14 to continue patrolling the battlefield. By the 13th, the Air Force canceled the air control mission, only allowing all fighter jets performing bombing missions to carry at least 1 interceptor missile and 2 fighting missiles to prevent accidents.

Pei Chengyi specifically mentioned in the battle report that the key factor in winning the third battle is "absolute air supremacy".

Having air superiority means taking the initiative in the battle.

For the South Korean army that lost air supremacy, if they remain on the position, they can only be divided and surrounded by the Republic's army and will be wiped out one by one; if they leave the defensive position, they will be subjected to fierce bombing and lose their combat capabilities before fighting with their opponents.

Move is death, and not moving is death!

Because air supremacy is essentially an absolute embodiment of "firepower", it can be seen from this that the importance of firepower in mobile warfare.

Absolute air supremacy equals absolute firepower advantage.

The battle has not yet begun, and the Korean army has been defeated.

The fierce shelling was just a manifestation of the army's firepower to prove its own performance.

When preparing for artillery fire, the 38th Army and the 39th Army, which were mainly attacking on the ground, entered the offensive positions one after another.

Although the 38th Army, the 39th Army, and even the Army did not admit that the real main force was not the ace army of the Republic, in fact, the real main force was indeed the air assault forces and the 77th Army.

Before dawn, more than 1c00 armed helicopters and transport helicopters from five aerial assault brigades were ready to take off at two airports and field airports.

The three rapid response brigades of the 77th Army deployed in Jinhua (Kumhwa, south of the 38th parallel) took the lead in embarking on the journey.

Before dawn, the 771st Brigade, which was in the forefront, advanced more than 60 kilometers and reached Dongpingli, northeast of Seoul. At this point, the three brigades of the 77th Army divided into three routes and launched deep assaults in three directions.

After dawn, the 1511th Brigade of the Air Turkish 1511, the 1611th Brigade of the Air Turkish 1711th Brigade of the Air Turkish 1711th Brigade caught up with the three assault troops of the 77th Army and began to clear away the Korean strongholds along the way. At the same time, three brigades of low-altitude assault troops were dispatched, and they would open the way in front of the 77th Army to speed up the assault speed of the 77th Army.

It was not until this time that the armored forces of the 38th Army and the 39th Army set out from the offensive positions.

The ground battle of the third battle officially begins! (To be continued,)
