Chapter 60 Accidents

Manhattan, Broadway.

Gwen followed the three girls, walking slowly in the bustling crowd. New York at night was like a city that never sleeps. People in the business district were coming and going, surrounded by colorful neon lights, and TV shows, advertising and news were played on the large hanging electronic screens.

The three girls who were traveling with each other chatted all the way, and they never stopped talking for almost a moment. According to Gwen's observation, their topics seemed to be nothing more than a scandal between someone and someone on campus, or the movements of a Hollywood movie star and a rock singer, or clothing, shoes, cosmetics and other things.

While listening to their conversation, Gwen whispered a few words from time to time to show her presence. In fact, she was not interested in these topics, just as she was not very enthusiastic about going shopping with her classmates. The reason why she came here was purely because she didn't want to act alternatively and was regarded as a "strange girl" by her classmates.

Another reason is that she doesn't want to go home too early. If she goes back, she actually has nothing to do, so she can only stare at her exaggeratedly large top apartment.

As the girls were chatting, they somehow rarely mentioned physics knowledge. They argued about a certain issue for a while, and then turned back unanimously and decided to ask for advice from the "authoritative person".

"Hey, genius," a girl asked, "remember what does the second universe speed mean?"

"That refers to the lowest speed at which an object finally escapes from the gravity of the earth, which is seven miles per second." Gwen replied.

A red-haired girl whistled loudly: "Did you see it? I said it!"

"You just happened to be right..."

"But to be honest, Gwen, why do you remember all these things?" asked the red-haired girl.

"...You might as well ask her why she has the highest score in the class every time she tests."

Gwen raised his eyebrows: "Well... read more books, do more questions, listen carefully in class?"

She told a small lie, but in fact she didn't do any of the three above.

Sometimes Gwen felt that she was not only given Spider-Man's superpowers in that cloning experiment, but also gained similar brain-stimulating abilities - especially in class. She found that she was in a state of divergent thinking and wandering around the world most of the time in high school classes, and she didn't really take what she said to the teacher too much.

She didn't spend more time studying when she went home at night. After she returned home, she either watched TV to pass the time, or just lay alone in bed and stared at the empty bedroom until the lights were turned off and to go to bed.

Speaking of which, the most fulfilling time she spends every week is probably when she goes to the nearby Tianjian branch base to receive the system's field agent course training. Her special training instructor is a fierce and unkind guy all day long. He is very tall and has a metal arm (Gwen thinks it's quite cool). She doesn't know the instructor's name, but only knows that his code name seems to be "Winter Soldier".

Following the instructor's training class was probably the only class she could not travel outside the world every week, because he always had some methods that Gwen didn't like to ensure that his students could not be distracted.

Having said that, Gwen thought that the so-called "academic master" should be like this. She clearly didn't put in much effort to read books, but the scores she got inexplicably the first place. But whenever someone asked her about the secrets of learning, she never told the truth. One reason was that she probably wouldn't believe it, and the other was that she felt that it might hurt others' confidence.

She guessed that maybe others might feel better when they heard that she was working hard and studying hard to get such good grades.

A girl poked Gwen with her elbow: "Hey, Gwen. Do you remember Brent Gardner?"

"The boys in the class? Remember, what?"

The girl smirked: "We just discussed it a little. We guess he will have to send you a love letter in the next two days."

"Me?" Gwen pointed at himself, "Serious?"

The three girls all booed.

"Come on, of course it's you. Look, you are smart and so beautiful, which boy can't like it?"

"And your family must be super rich, right?" the red-haired girl added.

Gwen smiled bitterly and was too lazy to explain.

I don’t know who spread the news first, saying that this new transfer student Gwen Grophne took a lengthened version of the Cadillac when she came to school on the first day. In addition, she was dressed in a world-famous brand that seemed casual but actually paid attention to the extreme (in fact, all the clothes she wore were prepared by Elizabeth), so the rumors that the transfer student girl was actually a little princess from a wealthy family spread.

"Why don't you consider having a boyfriend?" Her companions continued to instigate, "Although most boys are stupid, some are actually quite good."

The red-haired girl curled her lips: "How did you know Gwen doesn't have a boyfriend yet?"

"Hey? Do you have one?"

Gwen said: "I didn't..."

"Ha, that must be someone you like?"

Gwen was about to say nothing, but he subconsciously paused before he said that. And her natural reaction was naturally keenly captured by several classmates who had an unusually sensitive sense of gossip.

"Wow, Gwen really has a sweetheart!"

"Really and false? Who is it? Is it from our school?"

“…”

Gwen was about to defend himself, but was interrupted by a sudden and violent sting.

She was becoming more and more familiar with this tingling feeling. She knew that this was also one of the superpowers derived from Spider-Man, called "Spider Sensing", which could help her keenly sense dangers nearby.

But now she is located in the bustling heart of Manhattan, with people coming and going around. What triggered her spider sensing?

Several girls were still arguing about the gossip topic just now. They even began to guess whether Gwen's crush would be a public figure such as a superstar. But Gwen's mind was no longer in this conversation. Her eyes swept around with clever eyes, like a spider entrenched in the center of a spider web she made, chasing the direction where the silk thread was being pulled to look for prey.

Most people in the square look very ordinary. Children who are having trouble with their parents in front of the toy shop, lovers who are hugging and kissing under neon lights, and young Shamatts who are smoking on the railings on the edge of the square with their legs hanging down... Well, these guys look a little more dangerous than others, but they shouldn't trigger spider sensing.

Until she looked through the crowd and noticed two men about two hundred yards away from them.

One of the men held his arms tightly and sat on a public bench, looking like a patient with a cold and fever. A man in a shaved suit walked to the bench with a black suitcase, whispered a few words to the man, and then put the box down.

Then the bald man in the suit walked away. The man on the bench couldn't wait to pick up the box, took out something from it, put it to his mouth and sucked it hard, like an addict with a drug addiction attack.

The stinging became more and more intense, almost rising to an unbearable level, and the spider sensed like an alarm clock that could not be closed and sounded violently in Gwen's mind.

"Uh, guys," she turned her head and interrupted several companions' arguments, "I think...we'd better leave quickly."

"What? Gwen? Don't try to change the topic..."

"Okay, let's talk about these later," Gwen said without hesitation and grabbed a girl and walked quickly outside the square. "This place makes me uncomfortable, let's get out of here quickly."

Her friends noticed her malfunction: "What's wrong with you? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Gwen did not answer. She led the three of them out of the square as quickly as possible, crossing the road to the opposite side of the street. The tingling sensation rose to the highest point in that moment. She instinctively shouted "Let's go down" and used brute force to knock the ground with these companions.

The next second, the deafening bombing swallowed everything.

The man holding the suitcase exploded from the inside out, and the flames were released with the impact of red heat, as if they were about to evaporate the entire world.
