Chapter 21 Shaolin Temple

Xiao Feng has been to Li's house for a few days. In the past few days, he has done nothing. He just lived leisurely in the government office. He took Li Yuanwai to taste tea, play chess, and practiced the Yijing bone-making chapter, never mentioning the serious matter. He ignored Mr. Li as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, and wandered around him all day long.

After living there for a few more days, Xiao Feng began to walk around Dengfeng County with Mr. Li. During this period, he fell in love with several houses and asked Mr. Li to go out and buy them at a low price, as if he was going to settle in Dengfeng County.

Is Xiao Feng not anxious? No, in fact, he is much more anxious than Mr. Li. He wishes to go to Shaolin to trick the Nine Yang scriptures immediately. But he still has a concern in his heart. Although he can get the Nine Yang Divine Art, in order to avoid others discovering his purpose of coming here, he is accompanying Mr. Li to travel around. He can cause less trouble in the world and try to cause as little trouble as possible. In the future, the Nine Yang Divine Art will definitely be discovered by people from Shaolin Temple, so he blew up smoke in Dengfeng, and bought a house and made others think that he came here for fun.

Xiao Feng spent half a month in Dengfeng, and bought six or seven thousand taels of silver for the house. These silver was basically wasted. However, he did not feel sorry for these thousands of taels of silver as an early investment in the Nine Yang scriptures. Anyway, as long as the Nine Yang gets it, this little silver will be fine. On this day, Xiao Feng finally felt that the time was almost over, and others would definitely think that he was just having fun, so he invited Mr. Li to come over.

The two of them took a seat and Xiao Feng said, "Mr. Li! I have been so warmly treated to you this half month. I am very grateful. Thank you here."

Xiao Feng hurriedly stood up and bowed, saying repeatedly: "I dare not, Xiao Yingxiong is willing to live here for a few days, but it is my blessing. What else should I say to thank you there? Xiao Yingxiong is so polite."

"Actually, I have one thing that I need to do for Mr. Li to help me."

"Ah? My Yingxiong Xiao! You are finally going to talk about the important matter. Tell me quickly, I'll do it for you right away." Mr. Li asked with surprise. He still hoped to send it away early for Xiao Feng, the great god. Although he is a wealthy man from Dengfeng, he is not a person in the martial arts world, but it is not something that ordinary people can do when Xiao Feng can break a stone lion with one palm. At least he is a first-class master in the world.

"Mr. Li will do this and I can leave immediately. But if this matter cannot be done well... I'm afraid..." Xiao Feng did not finish his words and left half of the sentence.

When he was so intentionally scared at the end, the fat meat on Mr. Li's face immediately trembled. He reached out to take out a scarf and wiped the sweat beads on his forehead. He asked carefully: "Xiao Yingxiong! I wonder what this last thing is? No matter how difficult it is, the officials will do their best to do it and do their best!"

With a smile, Xiao Feng said, "Mr. Li doesn't have to be afraid. This matter is not difficult, as long as..." He lowered his voice and said the matter. Mr. Li nodded while listening, and said a few words from time to time.

Shaolin Temple, also known as the Monk Temple, is known as the "Zen ancestral temple, the world's number one temple". It is the ancestral temple of Chinese Han Buddhism. It was built in 495 (the 19th year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty). 32 years later, the famous Indian monk Bodhidharma came to Shaolin Temple to teach Zen, and ordered Shaoshi Mountain to set up a temple for the Buddha to provide food and clothing. Since then, the temple gradually expanded, and the number of monks increased day by day, and Shaolin Temple has become famous. Bodhidharma is known as the first ancestor of Chinese Buddhist Zen Buddhism, and Shaolin Temple is called the ancestral courtyard of Zen Buddhism.

Songshan Shaolin Temple was founded in the 19th year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty (495 AD). It is located in the heart of the Central Plains, with developed transportation and across the mountain from the capital Luoyang. In order to resettle the Indian monk Batu, he admired, Emperor Xiaowen ordered the construction of Shaolin Temple on the northern foot of Shaoshi Mountain in Songshan.

Since the construction of Shaolin Temple, it has experienced a tortuous history of the rise of numbers and destruction.

In 574 (the third year of Jiande in the Northern Zhou Dynasty), Emperor Wu banned Buddhas and the temple was destroyed. It was rebuilt during the Daxiang period and was renamed Zhikao Temple. He summoned 120 people including Huiyuan and Hong Zun to live in the temple, named "Bodhisattva monk". In the Sui Dynasty, Buddhism was promoted and ordered to restore Shaolin to the name of Shaolin and give 100 hectares of fertile land in Baiguwu, becoming a large Zen temple in the north. When King Li Shimin of Qin destroyed Wang Shichong's separatist forces in the early Tang Dynasty, he received assistance from the temple monks, and Shaolin monks became famous. Emperor Gaozong and Wu Zetian also often visited the temple and gave him generous rewards. During the Huichang period of the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Wu banned Buddhas and most of the temples were destroyed. Until the end of the Tang Dynasty, the temple gradually declined. In the Song Dynasty, the temple was slightly repaired.

The towering Songshan Mountain, a thousand-year-old temple, and in front of the gate of Shaolin Temple, more than a dozen guests were welcomed on this day. The identities of these dozen people were different from those of ordinary tourists. These people all had the identity of the Li family. The leader was Li Yuanwai of Dengfeng, and more than ten servants and others came with him.

After the news, a monk about thirty years old came out of the temple and stepped forward to Li Yuanwai to salute him, saying, "I am a monk who is in heaven. I have seen Li Yuanwai and all donors here. Please invite all donors."

After saying this, the monk Wutian reached out to Suke in the temple. Mr. Li nodded and said a few words to him. The group followed Wutian into Shaolin Temple.

Wutian took everyone to a side hall to invite everyone to sit down. The young monk in the temple presented incense tea to the guests. After everyone used it, Wutian asked about everyone’s purpose.

Mr. Li smiled and said, "What I asked for is not a big deal. But I have heard in the past that Master Bodhidharma has been facing the wall in this Shaolin Temple for nine years. Not only did he leave Shaolin with a world-famous magical skill, but he also wrote many Buddhist classics with his own handwriting. The martial arts are not related to me, so I don't have to worry about it. I just want to borrow a few books written by Master Bodhidharma and look at the handwriting of the senior monks. I hope the master can accept it." After saying that, he took out the silver notes to bring enough "sincerity" to the people in Shaolin. A silver note worth 100,000 is real. As long as you go to the money house, you can exchange the full amount of silver immediately.

Just praying for a blessing, the Shaolin monks were a little dumbfounded? Could it be that they were coveting my 72 Shaolin skills, it would never be possible.

But when he watched the hundred thousand silver notes floating in the wind, the monks could not speak out.

"Master, don't worry, my master was seriously ill and almost died. He suddenly realized the truth of life between life and death. This time, he came to Shaolin because he really admired Zen teachings. He just wanted to copy some ordinary Buddhist scriptures and recite them. He was definitely not coveting the martial arts books of your temple." The servant next to Mr. Li said.

"This..." The monks discussed it and finally agreed. There was no way. The royal family of Jin Kingdom believed in Taoism and ignored Shaolin Temple. The high-ranking officials and nobles learned and were very enthusiastic about Taoism, which also led to the strong incense of Taoism. Chongyang Palace was even more hidden as the leader of the Taoist sect in the world.

Over the past century, the taxes under the Jin Dynasty were heavy, the people's livelihood was in decline, and the people had no spare money to offer. The incense in Shaolin Temple was shrinking, and the monks lived a very difficult life, and most of them were barely maintained by the "tuition fees" of lay disciples.

It is rare to see stupid birds like Mr. Li, how can you let them go!

As for Mr. Li's character, the people from Shaolin Temple also know that he is the richest man in Dengfeng. He has no martial arts skills and is famous in the world, so he should not have any bad intentions.

Besides, even if you have a ghost in your heart, you will be impatient to live if you dare to make trouble under the noses of so many masters in Shaolin Temple.

His words and deeds were appropriate, and he soon gained the trust of the monks. After praying for himself solemnly, after his followers gave him 1,000 taels of silver notes, Li Yuanwai proposed to go to the Sutra Library to copy the scriptures.

Two monks accompanied him, one fat and the other thin. The two looked at each other. The fat monk clasped his hands together and said, "Amitabha, donor doesn't know anything. The Sutra Pavilion is the important place of my Shaolin Sutra. In principle, outsiders are not allowed to enter..."

Damn, if you really don't allow it, why didn't you say it earlier? Mr. Li scolded the bald donkeys in his heart, but his face was full of piety, and he clasped his hands and said, "I'm just looking at the style of the Buddha this time. I heard that the seventy-two unique skills of the temple are on the second floor of the Sutra Pavilion. I'm just copying scriptures on the first floor. I will never take a step on the second floor. Master can be relieved!"

As he said that, he took out another 500 taels of silver bill and presented it to him. When the two bald donkeys saw that there was another silver bill, their eyes flashed and said, "It's so good, donor, please come here."

Afterwards, several monks guarded the entrance of the Sutra Pavilion, and one monk guarded the entrance of the second floor, leaving only Mr. Li to copy it on the first floor.

Mr. Li walked around the other floor at will, and took one ordinary Buddhist scriptures such as the Lotus Sutra, the Agama Sutra, and the Miscellaneous Agama Sutra. However, he did not dare to neglect Xiao Feng's instructions to copy a few sutras.
