Chapter 79: The Legend of Cloning
"Swoosh!"
Two thin metal plates swirled over both sides of Eric's body like two sharp razors. The multiple images generated by his speed were shuttled back and forth between metal storms. They stepped on pieces of metal fragments flying by at the speed of nearly half the hour under their feet, like a small boat that was moving upstream, sailing against the wind and waves towards Dr. Octopus in the center of the storm.
Peter and Jessica were both blocked by the storm. The broken pipes and iron sheets were stirred rapidly in this dilapidated laboratory at a speed that ordinary people could not even see. The walls were torn and smashed, and the frame of the roof also merged into part of the storm. The glass slag rose like snowflakes with the howling wind. The two of them were already overwhelmed by dodging around the periphery and could not slow down and counterattacked Dr. Octopus.
Eric tried his best to get closer to the eye of the metal tornado, and Dr. Octopus's four arms danced wildly under his command, like a conductor directing a grand movement. Every step closer to him, Eric felt the pressure multiplied, and the spiraling metal fragments seemed to build a huge network around him, leaving him with more and more limited space to dodge.
Finally, with a muffled "bang", the metal arm shot out like electricity from the gaps between countless parts, and the claws turned into a sharp chainsaw to cut through all obstacles along the way, and suddenly hit the shoulder of the Yamozhuo armor. Eric, who was moving at high speed, took the blow and suddenly retreated. Sparks splashed out from the shoulders like blood. The shoulder armor was cut off completely under the violent impact of the super-speed, and even cut the flesh.
Eric's body rolled to the ground like an armor-piercing bullet and rolled across the layers of iron behind him that were rotating along the wind direction.
"Eric!" Peter shouted as he tried to approach, but had to retreat and avoid another steel pipe shot towards the door.
Eric stood up with his shoulders covering his shoulders, a trace of blood flowed out from his fingers and slid down the shiny shell of the armor. The broken position of the shoulders seemed to extend liquid metal independently, and quickly repaired the gap at a speed visible to the naked eye. It was restored to its original state in just a blink of an eye.
Is the speed slowing down just now because of excessive consumption?
Eric's brain was already feeling a little hypoxia, just like an athlete near the finish line on a marathon. This was also an alarm bell for the high-speed barrier to approach the limit, prompting that his speed mode was almost at its limit.
Since that's the case, it's better to try all the rest and give it a try.
"Output power is 100%...charged."
The golden current spread throughout the armor along the limbs and bones, and even the position of the eyepiece seemed to be ignited. The speed force field instantly expanded to the maximum with its limit power, dragging every flying metal fragment and every grain of dust stirred by the air flow into the field of time, moving at a snail's speed.
The rapid energy charged from the energy core into the right arm and gathered on Eric's right fist, and the arm seemed to turn into a ball of lightning.
At full speed, Eric burst out in an instant. The current wrapped around the afterimage and turned into gold, like a sharp arrow running through the night and broke through the air. This time he stopped dodging and rushed into the whistling storm along a straight line. The golden lightning slashed through layers of obstacles, and the torn iron sheet flew and nailed into the remaining walls on both sides. The broken mouth was charred as black as charred.
Dr. Octopus could not even see where the attack came from. The moment the whirlwind swept to the face, he only subconsciously raised his metal arm - it turned out that it might have saved his life. The alloy's iron fist suddenly slammed his metal arm, and shook back together with his body. The eight-clawed octopus sat down in a mess in the ruins of the metal. The heavy impact penetrated the metal arm and made him squirt blood.
But this also exhausted Eric's last energy. With the prompt of "energy exhaustion", the armor was released back to Eric's back and re-entered the dormant mode.
The storm stopped, and all the metal blocks flying all over the sky fell back to the ground. But before Otto fell, he supported the ground with his metal arms, gritted his teeth and held his body up, and his gums were stained with blood.
"you......"
He seemed to be trying to say something, but Eric didn't have the chance to understand what he was trying to say. Peter and Jessica both flashed in front of him, and punched Dr. Octobac on both sides of the cheeks. Otto raised his head and yelled, fell back to the ground, and finally disappeared from movement with his four claws.
"You'd better lie down, the old octopus demon." Peter said angrily.
"Yes, he's right." Jessica added, "You should go and be with the fish in the aquarium."
So if Jessica completely replicated Spider-Man, her mouth cannon skills should be not weak at all? This man and woman do not look like a superhero team, but rather like a double act. Eric had this strange idea and couldn't help laughing.
"Okay, it looks like it's over." Peter took a deep breath, "Let's go now."
"Where to go?" Jessica asked.
"I promised, I have to listen to them."
"No, that Nick Fury almost killed you!" Jessica objected.
Peter shook his head: "I have to face all this, I can't escape. If I run away, they will come and catch me. The safety of MJ and Aunt May is more important."
"Okay, then you can do it." Jessica turned around, "I don't want to argue with myself."
"Where are you going?"
Her figure disappeared into the darkness and no reply. Peter looked at the direction where she disappeared, and was stunned for a long time without moving.
Eric stood up and said, "How are you?"
“Not very good.”
Peter paused for a moment and added: "Thank you very much, though."
"Don't worry, things are not as bad as you think." Eric patted his shoulder and comforted, "In fact, they just wanted to pull you into the group."
Peter sighed, “Do I have any choice?”
New York Hospital.
The long night left quietly, and the sun carefully exposed half of its head. The dark clouds were like half-open curtains. The sunlight shone on the open rooftop on the top of the hospital.
Richard Parker—or the clone who thought he was—was covered in wrinkles in just one night, as if he had condensed his entire life in these hours. He sat down with a trembling water tank and gasped heavily in the sun.
Tony Stark stood silently beside the old man, watching him struggling to hold his back.
“Is there any help needed?”
"No, I just want to sit here for a while," the clone said, pausing and asking, "Are you... willing to be his friend, Mr. Stark?"
"who?"
"Peter." He said in a low voice, "After going through so much, he will need friends like you. Although he will not turn to people, he has become an orphan, and this is actually very heavy for him. If necessary, would you be his friend?"
Tony's heart moved. This person was just a clone of Peter Parker. Now he knew it in his heart, but only the concerns and love that belonged to his father in his old eyes were real.
Even if it was just a clone, he did have memories and emotions that belonged to Peter's father.
"certainly."
"Thanks."
The clone closed his eyelids heavily and fell to the side of the water tank and fell asleep.
